  1. Celebrity had to fix something on my Express Pass boarding document. When I went to print it out, it wouldn't. One reason may have been because it is too close to departure but even when I tried to "reprint" the document, the only thing that would print is portions of the cruise history, random codes and general information. My On Board expense account and signature line is not on this paper. When I called Celebrity they told me I did not need my boarding pass. QUESTION: I've been on 100's of cruises and the security people always ask for the boarding pass and passport before you get through security. Has anyone had a similar experience? I know it will take longer at check in. That's not my concern. I have never tried to enter the terminal without my boarding pass however and, even though Celebrity said it would be fine, I am asking CC members who probably have more in person experience. Thanks for any input.

  2. This whole back and forth about the vocal minority and how the whiners won. Reminds me of when they banded smoking on balconys. A lot of people said oh the loudest whiners got their way. But then the anti smoking group insisted that the cruise lines listened and the smokers only make up a hand full of passengers.

Now in the dynamic dinning situation a lot of you insist that it was not Royal Caribbean listening to the guests and that more do want dynamic dinning than not. Funny how when the other sides gets somthing taken away from them they had before and enjoyed during cruise based on possibly lies or extreme exaggeration. They then insist it is not what the majority of passengers wanted.

ex.( Oh we could not use our balcony because the smoke from others balcony was just unbearable and had to move one balcony over because yhe smoke never disapated outside on a moving ship) or Dynamic dinning was the worst experiences out of how ever many cruises we got off at the next port or cancelled this many cruises because of it. Anyway maybe Royal Caribbean should stick with what they know and not try a be like Disney cruise line or ncl with dinning.

  3. Hi,

we will be on the same ship about a month from now, so I have been reading many posts about the ship and the port.

Is the 'max 25" per day or for the parking total for 10 days ?. If per total - that is great ....... if per day......

I would do a little different arrangements for the parking.

You are flying out of Tampa to FLL. The Vision is changing the home port on your cruise and goes Fll to Tampa.

I would park close to Port of Tampa ( some posters listed some parking lots that offer lower rate than the "25" and they will pick you up when you get back to Port of Tampa after the cruise.) You will save some parking money and will be a lot easier to get to your car after the cruise.

Take the taxi from the parking lot to TPA to catch your flight to Fll.

In Fll take taxi to PE .... about 15 dol.

When I say we are parking at the airport I should point out it is at A1 express which is right at the entrance to Tampa International airport. They have a shuttle to the airport and then we are taking a taxi cab from the Port of Tampa to A1 express.

A1 express for our 10 day stay is 81.00$ total and it is a beautiful facility.

The taxi from the Port of Tampa to A1 express or Tampa international airport is a max flat rate of 25$

Thanks to all for your info it is greatly appreciated.

  4. Hi all we book the Vision November 6th cruise last minute and live in fl. We will be flying from Tampa to Fort Lauderdale. I have a question what is the best way to get from the airport in Fort Lauderdale to the port I know they are a hop skip and a jump from each other. We are parking at the airport in Tampa and taking a taxi back from Port of Tampa since it is a max flat rate of 25$ unless any of you know another way.

I have also posted this in the roll call but it does not seem to be very active this close to the cruise.

Thank you all for your help and wish everyone a great cruise and safe travels!.

  5. I know I will get the oh I'm glad your not going to be on my cruise or one less complainer to hear onboard from the cheer leaders. I got to say Bionic bar just seems ridicules. Next thing you know they will have robotic cabin stewards!. I wonder if the 15% gratuity is still charged at the bionic bar when a crew member is not even making the drinks!.

I am Loyal to Royal Diamond member and will still cruise Royal until the day I die. But the Quantum class will not be on my ships sailed list. First they get rid of the Promenade deck, Then the crown lounge, royal promenade, Main dinning room!!. Then add dynamic dinning and all the theme park like attractions like Sky diving, bumper cars etc. Which are very cool and innovative but have no place on a cruise ship!. Also leaves very little room for deck space.

Seems they are trying to attract the people who have bad mouthed cruises by making them feel like they are on a land vacation!. Also I read in the release guests will be able to plan out there vacation before they even get onboard!. Who want to plan out what they will do this day or eat when and where on that day etc!?. I cant believe what direction the cruising industry has gone. Part of the cruising experience use to be being able to view hear be reminded your on the Ocean!.

At least on the Oasis class they gave us the sun deck above the bridge, The seating area by the stern on the Promenade deck, Central park to compensate the no windows in the casino, lounges, etc.

I hope the crew on Quantum are not even more over worked then on other Royal ships. I know they mentioned the tablets that all crew are going to get and how the stewards/crew will be able to see the guests every need etc. I hope it helps the crew but I have a feeling it is just good PR and the crew will be more stretched thin then on any other ship in the fleet.

    Flame away!

  6. We did express walk of this morning from Allure of the seas. We had a great cruise just putting that out there. We just realized after getting home that we left out Samsung tablet on the sofa in our cabin. The case is very similar in color to the sofa so that might explain why it was overlooked. We called Royal and they acted like there is not much hope of getting it back and told us to wait for few days to see if it shows up. You would think they would be able to just call the ship!

Is there a number I can call the ship and get a hold of a crew member on the ship ?

Does anyone have any advice or have been in a similar situation? It would be greatly appreciated. This was our 58th cruise so just goes to show there is a first time for everything.

  7. good for her for not apologizing. Far too often, people say things intentionally that are either true and/or funny and then wimp out and 'apologize' when a small minority complain about it. She knew it was a bit edgy and possibly 'offensive', so don't bow to pressure and 'apologize' for something you aren't sorry for.

    like!

  8. OMG did you guys even really listen or read the JOKE? Just in case you didn't.

she explained what it was like crashing in her daughter Melissa River's guest room.

"Those women in the basement in Cleveland had more space," she said.

More space she said!! Never said the living condition where better or good etc. It was a Joke! A lot of people laughed I guess they should be banned from the cruise line. Ncl should have known darn well what she is about!. She has said a lot worse then this JOKE in the past which I am sure Ncl knows. Ncl is just doing this as a publicity/$ stunt no more.

She is a comedian I guess people don't understand what a comedian is. I feel extremely bad for this girls who have gone through something so bad/traumatic that there are no words to describe how awful it was/is. But all Joan did was say staying at her daughters house in the guest room was very tiny and had no very little if any space!.

I do understand why some could be upset when they first hear Joan's joke but if you just take a second to read what was said you would realize what the JOKE was really about. She never meant any harm. She does not need to apologies

  9. I sailed on Qm2 on a 7 day Caribbean cruise from port everglades 2005. I will never forget how BEAUTIFUL she was and quality of everything on board. I have read a fair amount of reviews talking about how her appearance is in sad shape [ceilings showing water damage, broken fixtures, etc ]. I understand she is 10 years old. So I don't expect a brand new liner.

So when is she do for her next drydock and for how long? For you recent Qm2 cruisers how was it? I am considering another trip later this year. I really appreciate all of your input.

    Thanks

  10. I totally understand! We are Coke drinkers (addicts, really). Pepsi products are a no go, we don't care for them at all. OP is a Pepsi drinker and RCI only sells Coke products. She isn't wanting to bring on something that can be purchased onboard.

Thanks for looking at the situation for what it is and being reasonable! which is rare nowadays on here. One of the passengers traveling with us on Allure in a couple weeks always take just one Pepsi 6 pack of the little bottles sealed in the plastic it comes with.

They really love there Pepsi and if they don't have a Pepsi once in a while they get migraine etc. They have been on allure 4 times in the past year always had no problem . Does anyone think they will have a chance to bring just One sealed 6 pack of the tiny bottles on sailing April 6th

Also to all you people who are like oh your a one time poster etc. A large amount of people who look on CC do just that look. Some don't create an account until they feel need to mostly because people on here flame posters over the littlest things.

A lot of the time when Poster only post one time is they just wanted to let people know something they might like to be aware of and know what response they will get for posting what ever they post. The reason they don't respond is they don't want to waste there lives defending themselves on a online forum when they could be doing god knows what. We all use to be a first time poster

  11. This is so not true!!! I have been on the Allure 3 times and always bought them on day 1, and took them to my cabin. Also they do not sell cigarettes at any bar on board!!

You are wrong on both counts. Bars sell cigarettes although they are not on display. I too was on Allure and was unable to take cigarettes back to cabin. Instead of being so pompous, maybe you can accept that the person checking you out in the store may not always be the same. You are just wrong about the cigarettes in at least the Casino bar which is where I purchased mine.

P.S. I have been on Allure once a month for the past two years. I don't repeat not having cigarettes on purpose but when I have run out because the cigarettes available in St Martin or St. Thomas are often expired (also not told to OP) I have purchased them in the BAR. They add 15% gratuity to them also.

For everyone who is considering buying cigarettes in port, check the codes on the carton. It tells you how old they are. Just FYI

  12. Dexter Fraser (my son) will be back on Allure March 9. Will be in the Diamond Lounge until May 18 (9 weeks) and then back to the CL after that.

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

WOW that is great news We love Dexter we have cruised with him 4 times and he is very Nice. Best DL host in our books. Is he really your son?

  13. Royal Caribbean directly as well as the Cruise Compass stats given, ON THE BRIDGE!:D
True when I was on the bridge of Allure the stats where there clear as day I will scroll through my pics to see if I got one of stats of Allure displayed on the Bridge

Also lets just say my info is wrong on the drydock width for argument sake. The shipyard site states it can lift 150,000 tons. I know the Freedom of the Seas is 154,700 but you can deballasted the water tanks to lighten the load. You can't do that for 225,000 ton ship like Allure. You also are not thinking about why would RCCL, which owns majority in said shipyard, would have Oasis go into a real drydock over in Europe. Just think about it.;)

  14. Take another look .... The Freedom OTS beam is 127 feet at the waterline. Dry Dock #2 has 192 ft between the walls (according the the shipyard's web site.)

The Allure is only 154 at the waterline. Looking at the picture you can see a gangway going from the top[ of the wall to deck one or two, and it looks to be about 25 feet long.

Note that the ship doesn't start to get wider until you reach the lifeboats; Allure is designed similarly.

So, based on your picture, it can be deduced that the Allure will fit into the drydock - she will just hang out over the end(s).

    Aloha,

    John

Your "facts" are wrong. Check the plans for the ship and records which are verifiable. Wikipedia facts on oasis class are flat out wrong the site says freedom class is wider the Allure so there you go Allure is 208 feet at water line and 215 at widest point freedom class is 154 at water line and 184 at bridge wings! BIG difference. As I said, not starting an argument and certainly not responding in a rude manner.

I HAVE TALKED TO CREW MEMBERS ON THE ALLURE's Bridge who will be on during the repair who flat out said to my face she will not fit in drydock due to her width. So I guess the crew on the bridge RCCL hires don't know their own SHIP!! They call ships tin cans as well does not make it right makes you sound uniformed. that pic is not giving the measurements which if you know how to do simple math you would realize it just wont happen

  15. OK, so I'm at work yesterday, I'm an optician. A gentleman came in my office for contact lenses and I noticed that his address was in Freeport. I asked him about what he did in Freeport and he told me he was a marine engineer at a shipyard.

I asked him if he new about the Allure coming to Freeport for repairs and he told me that not only was she coming to his yard, but it was his project.

What he told me was that they would "tilt" the ships stern up by tilting the floating drydock. He never mentioned sponsons but he did say that they were going to build a structure around the area being worked on that could be kept dry.

They will be replacing two of the three azipods for bad bearings. I told him I was on the first cruise scheduled after the repair and as he was leaving he told me not to worry about it, that "my boat was in good hands".

I would love to know how they would achieve this as you can tell by the link I provided to the shipyard itself they do not have a drydock capable of fitting Allure please note width!. Length is not as much of a factor as the freedom class extends over the largest drydock in Freeport they just put barges to over come this. So another [Expert] has spoken in addition to calling the Allure a boat no one with experience in maritime matters would call a 225,000 ton 1180+ft long 215ft wide SHIP a BOAT!!

One more thing if Freeport can handle an Oasis class ship in one of their drydocks even though the shipyards own website says otherwise why would Rccl send Oasis on two transatlantic cruises only 1 1/2 months apart? So we have Officers from Allure who will be on during the repair who say one thing and A [marine engineer] who says another.

We will find out soon enough how the repair will be carried out in Freeport but is wont be carried out on a BOAT :p Not trying to start an argument but the FACTS don't add up to what you have been told

  16. There has been a lot of discussion regarding Allure azipod repair in Freeport. Whether the ship itself would go into a dry-dock or the stern of the ship being lifted out of the water. Just to set the record straight here's what is known .First, Freeport does not has a dry-dock capable of handling Allure even with her rescue vessels lowered look at Freeport shipyard own site http://grandbahamashipyard.com/facilities/drydocks/ Second, if Freeport was able to handle Allure, Rccl would not sail the Oasis on two transatlantic crossings 1 1/2 months apart!! From what I heard from higher up crew on Allure, she will sail in to a wet-slip that is currently being dredged to fit a metal sponson under her hull to create a dry environment around her center pod. This is only needed so the repair can be completed in a shorter time frame.
