I know its easy to say be hopeful and fingers crossed.Only lost luggage once -showed up on day 5. Saw my bag and hubbys on the beltway, one after the other. His bag went to Costa Rico, and mine went to St Kitts. Same tags! Problem was we were staying at a beach resort where there was no shopping! I ended up buying boys soccer shoes in the local grocery store and t-shirts on the beach. Deduced that the local women never wore underwear as I couldn't find any in town shops. Since i didn't speak Spanish well, I had to demonstrate what I needed. Underwear was there but under the table! The joys of travel. I learned never to criticize what people were wearing - their luggage could have bee lost too!

And they keep saying that the Maasdam will be sold! We loved it when we traveled 2 years ago!

Who is Orlando Ashford and what is his address? We are coming back to Florida after a 24 day Med and Adriatic 17 port marathon and I for one was looking forward to a few good reads on the 8 sea days back.
In my opinion, they could jettison some of the HAL themed merchandise if they want to be "lighter".

Have a wonderful time! We did this on the Maasdam in 2013 and took the Veendam on Voyage of the Vikings in 2015. Nice sized ships but tricky getting to the bridge lessons because of no center stairways. Be careful in Rio - we were warned over and over about no jewelry to be worn, etc., but that all changes in the Amazon - another world! Very beautiful and exotic. You won't believe it when you see Mananus arise from the horizon 1,000 miles inland! We didn't see any mosquitos but that sun is really hot. Bon Voyage.:)

Is Captain working for Holland America now? We knew him from Regent then he went to Seaborn.

I have read where due to local environmental issues laundry facilities are closed for passengers ( Alaska, etc.) Are we going to be able to use laundries on this trip? It will make a difference on amount of clothes we take as we are staying on a few more days in Europe. Thanks for the info.:)
Are specialty restaurants on holland america worth it?

Just returned from a 21 day Eastern and Western Eurodam tour. Tamarind is the best - limited menu but done very well. Fast service and wonderful ambiance. Not so good on days ship is rolling (11th deck). Pinnacle is better value at lunch! MDR is hit or miss with food selections and quality - alas sign of the times. Butter slices are counted out per px and so thin you can see through them. However, you will never go hungry on a cruise - finish up at the LIDO, if you can find a seat!
