Today, NCL started refunding ONLY port charges and pre-paid gratuities.  WHAT A JOKE.  They are supposedly waiting until later in June to start cruise refunds.  NCL is such a joke and not a funny one at that.

Questions - Just to clarify - For those that have requested a cash refund NCL is processing their port-charges/pre paid  part of the cash refund and waiting until a later date to refund the rest of the cash?

We were paid in full $6300 for a May 10th NCL cruise. Filed for a refund with NCL on April 13. Filed a billing dispute with my credit card (USAA) about 10 days ago and got a full refund today. I don’t think NCL has paid up yet. The refund appears to come from our bank.

I wish I was so lucky. I have a conditional credit on my account and my CITI Costco card is giving NCL until July 10 to respond.  I have already asked for a full cash refund from NCL and the "90 day" on it is right around July 10 so it feel like a bit of a run around from the credit card company. So... still waiting for cash refund for cruise that was cancelled on March 30th.

I was booked through Costco travel .I canceled April 21 credit card refunded April 25.
I was looking forward to seeing the Panama Canal . Maybe next year.

Where you are on an NCL canceled cruise?  Or did you cancel prior to full payment?  I only ask because I also booked via Costco, NCL cancelled the cruise, I requested a cash refund via NCL. Costco basically instructed me to deal directly with NCl for cash back.

And for what it's worth I also filed with my credit card.

And I had a call from NCL asking me if we were using our FCCs or requested cash back 3 weeks after we filed for cash back w/NCL.

  4.  I can wait until the end of the week.  Just thinking about it it’ll be a huge relief to have the cruise cancelled and money refunded.  Not happy about the 90 days but it’ll lessen the burden of  no more paychecks and balancing our finances for the next few months.
But if NCL remains silent with no updates I am still planning on cancelling but I’ll be waiting until 72 hours before cruise day because I’ll be holding our hope for a full refund because that’s what we need right now. That’s our situation.

  5. If it makes you feel any better I have not heard from my online national membership based TA either.  They helpfully posted links to various bits of info including if you booked with our "brandname" credit card we just want to remind me we discontinued travel insurance benefits last year for cardholders. Although I am pretty sure credit card travel insurance does nothing for this situation anyway but it's the thought that counts. LOL.

But I totally agree with you how hard would it be for either company to send an email at least to acknowledge that clients trips are in a bit of a muddle and please be patient while we work everything out. Every single business that I have ever had anything to do with has sent an email within the last few days letting me know about their Covid 19 protocol.

  6. Just called to cancel Thermal Suite Spa package.  I had assumed that I could call and cancel that anytime up to when we decided to cancel.  The cruise was booked thru online TA so there would have been two different calls either way.  But I’d rather have some cash back right now and be safe then sorry since it does seem like my April spurge vacation money is going to be tied up in FCC for the short term possible long term depending on when we can travel again.

I just called NCL to see about cancelling for a future cruise credit.  Our cruise is April 17th . I was told that they are only doing that for cruises leaving 60 days out or more...I was a little surprised, considering the problem we are having is now....

I totally agree with you. We sail on April 24th. I am not sure I would have started to think about cancelling a June or July Cruise.
But I do want to postpone my April cruise. Maybe they are waiting for the negotiations to be finished with the US government and hoping for a cruise industry bailout before they make any offers. If that’s the case this will be our one and only cruise (assuming we can reschedule) on Norwegian. Disney, RCL and others can have my future business.

  8. I would love it if NCL made this change.

We are currently booked to a “romantic kid free” cruise on the Gem during April school vacation week and just received word that our teen’s overseas school trip during that same time period has been cancelled. (We have been expecting this cancelation for the last two weeks and are just happy to have that info.)

We would be very happy with the option to cancel this cruise and receive future cruise credit.
