This is very interesting to read and is new on Celebrity’s page. You might want to read it actually it isn’t new but has been obviously updated.
https://www.celebritycruises.com/company/customer-support/refusal-to-transport
You entitled your thread…”Looks Like You Are Giving Up Your Rights”.
What rights are those?

Just go through all the pages of making a booking. When you get to the
“Confirm Your Choices” page, instead of clicking on “Lock it In”, go up to the far left upper corner and click on “CelebrityXCruise”. The option for courtesy hold will appear.

We have done this departure time, back to Canada in the past, pre-Covid of course. With early self-disembarkation and a pre-arranged car to airport, you will be fine. Just as long as new protocols don’t hang on into next spring.....

A bunch of legal gobbledygook.
Well.....I Have absolutely NO legal education but it certainly is not “gobbledygook” to me. Just plain common sense given the times we are living in....if you want to cruise with all the bases covered....

We have sailed from Le Havre, having stayed in Paris prior. And we have done a private Tour of WW2 Battlefields, Cemetery’s and D-Day Landing Beaches from Le Havre as a port stop. The best tour we have ever done, and best tour guide we have ever had, bar none!

Another vote for Albergo del Senato. For service, location, rooms, breakfast etc. We used this wonderful , authentic Italian hotel prior to our Edge cruise last September and cannot recommend it more highly. If we ever get back to Rome after this nightmare of Covid-19, we will not hesitate to make a booking at Albergo del Senato!

An excellent summary of the current state of affairs and the probable impact on 2021 bookings. I found it balanced and very neutral in tone, quite different than so many of the posts on CC. While it may not cover any new points for consideration, it covers them in a clear, concise and well packaged video.
Precisely. And the only reason I posted it.

Title is incorrect. The video is titled 7 Reasons You Should Delay Booking A 2021 Cruise Now
Thank you for the correction.I apologize. Had just posted it with the title as sent by the TA and I should have
double-checked.

Not everything in Canada is sweetness and light. Montreal in particular stands out as an active center for COVID. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/may/13/coronavirus-montreal-canada-hit-hard
Well aware, it’s not all “sweetness and light” here. With over 90,000 cases and approx 7300 deaths nationally, Montreal having about 25,500 of those cases and almost 3000 deaths, we could say that Montreal is “our New York”. Toronto has also been hard hit.And there are other hotspots too.
My point was, that this worldwide pandemic has not been politicized here in Canada and co-ordinated efforts across the country are being based on what’s best for Public Health. And Governments are entrusting their decisions to the people in charge of that public health, And even though each province (state) is responsible for their responses independently, we mostly seem to be all working on the same page - guided by our Federal Gov’t in a very non-partisan way.
If you look at the overall picture here in Canada, I think you can see that this is working very well for the most part.
With moves to open our economy slowly and carefully taking place as appropriate, it appears that so far we are still able to place the well-being of our citizens first. We are not steam rolling ahead with the economy at the expense of lives.
Yes, I know we can’t stay closed forever. But a unified approach CAN work.
PEI stands to lose many, many millions of dollars by the cancelling of the 2020
cruise season. It’s a lot of money to a small province of about 150,000 people.
But the vast majority are relieved it has been cancelled. We only have 2 small regional hospitals with very few ICU beds. One cruise ship with an outbreak of Covid-19 would be our undoing. So, again, I say thank you to our proactive Canadian Government on Port closures to cruising for 2020.And may 2021 bring safer travel to all.

Not sure the latter part of that statement is true for any country at all - opening or keeping closed both have political nuances (appear to be bold - appear to do the right thing)
But thats a sepreate isssue and not really for these boards
The odd thing is quite how far in advance this is - especially considering how in most countrys the push now seems to (at least appear) to speed things up back to normality ... I suspect here its an easy scapegoat PR (trust me we see them every day in the UK) whilst appearing to move through the phases to keep people happy (and sane tbf) but with no consistency at all...
As I’ve followed the news from both your country and our southern neighbour, daily/hourly now for three months, and daily I’ve also I’ve said a prayer of gratefulness for the privilege of living in a country where politics have been set aside for the most part in dealing with this Pandemic and the decisions made for the health and safety of Canada’s citizens has been based on science and the input of our Public Health Professionals. Here on PEI our government has been following step by step the guidance of our Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Heather Morrison....(google her, she’s a Rhodes Scholar)..Our government stands behind her completely. Proud to say that
B.C.’s Pandemic hero, CMO Dr. Bonnie Henry Is also a PEIslander. (Google her too, what a Wonder Woman).
Canada has been proactive from the start. Slightly behind in the beginning but have done things right, IMO, from late Feb/early March. From what I Can see and have Learned about the UK and US, I do not believe you can put Canada in the same “ship” at all.
Yes, we have politics. But our government has let Science lead the way and not allowed Politics to trump Health.
Closing our Ports to cruise ships until October 31 is proactive and sensible considering everything that’s going on and predicted for fall. I love cruising. But it is certainly not essential at this time or anything close to the near future......IMO.

Have they opened the US/Canada border? 🍷
Canada/US border remains closed, to all but essential travel, until June 21.
Many Canadians hoping that closure is extended.

Oh, didn't know.
Two summers ago we visited PEI, but not Charlottetown. We traveled with DD, DSiL and 3 DGS. DSiL did lots of research to make sure our day on the island was unique. We visited the Potato Museum and the Glass Bottle Houses! Unfortunately that's all we had time to see as we were based over the bridge in N.B.
I hope you will get back here again. Lots more to our particular slice of heaven. But I really recommend that if you are cruising, you DO come Before the middle of October (IMHO).
I’ve only ever sailed in Alaska, Caribbean and Europe.Would dearly love to sail into our own small and pretty harbour someday.

With respect, this pandemic is nowhere near contained. I, for one, am pleased with the pro-active decision even though it hugely affects our British Columbia ports. 😥
I agree. But the pain is real for our little Island as well.- 2

For 2020, Charlottetown had 11 cruises booked to call between Oct. 16 - 31.- 1

Strange date for cruises out of Canada to be possibly permitted. Alaska & New England/Canada cruises that include a Canadian port are done for the season mid-October latest.
Actually, in 2019, Charlottetown, PEI, had 10 cruises scheduled to call betweenOct. 15 - Nov. 04

There are all kinds of things happening on this planet. More people are dying from cancer, heart disease, obesity, gun violence, terrorism, car accidents, alcoholism, drug abuse, etc. You cannot stop living your life just because things are happening on the planet.
Not one of the terrible things you’ve listed above is contagious, never mind HIGHLY contagious.
Not one of the things you list above would Keep me from a cruise . But,
as long as Covid-19 is rampaging the world without vaccines or treatments, I, Sadly, cannot go on another cruise, to South America or anywhere else.

Actually, many people can travel and just say their travel is essential. It probably is, to them.
Well, for almost 2 months now, anyone arriving to our province by air or via our bridge (only other entry point), who cannot prove they are travelling for approved, essential reasons, have been turned away or sent back on the next flight. Would hope our country’s border is doing the same.- 2

They are definitely never bringing back individual toiletries again. Almost all of the major hotel companies are also doing away with individual toiletries to reduce single use plastic waste.
Now can we use more convenient dispensers? Absolutely. I've seen some hotels use squeeze bottles attached to a wall bracket that's much easier to dispense the product. In fact they've been using those types of dispensers for decades in Europe.
I wouldn’t bet on that kwokpot. Now with high risk of cross-contamination of a much feared virus, I would be willing to Wager that individual toiletries may well be making a return.

What is the reasoning behind no carry-on?
A different article that I had read suggested the carry-ons would be banned to prevent potential cross-contamination from one bag to another as they are crammed into those overhead bins. -

You have to understand in the USA we are free. We are not allowed personalinformation about the health of anyone, including our spouse, without theirapproval. I believe anyone who traveled anywhere in FEB or MAR was incontact with COVID-19.
I do hope that you understand that we, here in Canada, are also Free. And as well, that we may not access any personal health information about anyone else, including our spouse, without their express permission.I believe it is also true that our Country’s governments and public health systems have been extremely diligent and proactive around identifying and containing the Covid-19 virus here and have done a good job, so far, of protecting it’s citizens during this Pandemic.

Our Chief Medical Officer announced today, that the female from PEI with confirmed Covid-19, did indeed sail on the Summit Feb.29th sailing. They were able to get the manifest and know that there are 4 more islanders on that sailing as well and they’ve all been notified.
Correction:There were 4 P.E.Islanders IN TOTAL on that Summit sailing. So far, only one has been confirmed positive.
The information in the posts above is very disturbing....

Stateroom Bar Set Up
in Celebrity Cruises
Posted
We have always gotten this and yes, it is a 1 litre bottle of your choice from whichever level of label you choose, plus 6 cans of mixers per bottle ( your choice - usually from your stateroom attendant upon checking into your cabin ) as well as a box of mixed nuts ( pre-2019 ). Expensive but convenient. And so enjoyable for cocktails on our balcony!
