  1. How about rain? That would be my biggest concern. The canoes are big trees that are dug out and actually quite stable. If it starts to rain, or if the wind starts blowing . . . that would be more of a concern. The water is all fresh water, rain water actually, but not knowing much about these implants . . . Regards, Richard

Thanks Richard. I can keep them pretty protected from the rain--unless it is a down pour in which case I would remove them (might be something that I would do in the canoe any way) but if I and my belongings fell in that would be more of a concern.

They actually look very similar to hearing aids while on my ears but are much more sophisticated. If you or others are interested in learning about them or know someone who is very hard of hearing and struggling with hearing aids here is some info from the US National Institute of Deafness and Communication Disorders: http://www.nidcd.nih.gov/health/hearing/pages/coch.aspx

    Thanks again,

  2. Thanks! That would be a question for Princess. Unfortunately they may be cutting back on the Port Lecturer positions for ships in the Caribbean. I think they consider the Canal Caribbean. Again, a question for Princess. In general, if there is something you like on board ship, ANY cruise line, maybe something like lecturers, or dance classes, or whatever, you need to let the cruise lines know. In these days when all cruise lines struggle to make a profit anything that they don't think the guests want or enjoy goes away, and what they think guests enjoy and demand get priority.

Regards, and enjoy CORAL and the Canal! Richard

    HI Richard

I have a question about the village trip as well and am hoping you will be on our HAL November 8th trip.

I am profoundly deaf and wear cochlear implants. Cochlea implants and water to not mix. Are these canoes sturdy enough that there is no reason to think one would get wet of fall in--assuming you don't jumb or do something stupid.

Sorry if it sounds like a dumb question.

    Thanks!!!

  3. We just got back from our first cruise (Alaska) and many of the things mentioned were very helpful but the one thing I now wish I had taken/done was kept a diary/journal of the days events. We had several interesting things happen to us on the trip (I was seated at dinner one night next to someone who graduated a year after me from my high school--an Ohio school and we were in Alaska) and I wish I had written them down as I find myself getting all mixed up especially which day which happened but then maybe that is old age.

    Enjoy your trip.

  4. My preference would be to take the Canada Line to Waterfront Station and at Waterfront transfer to the Expo/Millennium line to Burrard Station which is right by the Hyatt.

There probably isn't much difference in the distance you'll have to walk, from the Canada Line (Vancouver City Centre stop) north on Georgia Street to Burrard Street and the Hyatt or if you take the Canada Line to Waterfront Station and walk to the Expo Line departure point.

I'd rather tote my luggage through Waterfront Station between the Skytrain lines than down Georgia Street at night. Even during the day I think I'd prefer to transfer between the Skytrain lines. No trying to pull a heavy suitcase over sidewalks and across streets.

And thinking positively I won't even think about the possibility of hauling a suitcase down Georgia Street in the rain.

Wishing you sunshine and a wonderful vacation.

Thanks for your help. I keep putting the info in on the trip planner and it tells me that we have to take a bus between the Canada Line and the Expo line??? I keep looking and now I think if I am looking correctly there must be an underground walk way between the two?????

I have used Boston's subway system and realize that it makes more sense when you see the signs.

Thanks again and I too hope for sunshine and look forward to visiting your wonderful city.

  5. Can anyone tell me how to take the Canada Line from the airport to the Hyatt Regency. I looked on the website and there are a couple of options but I am not sure whether it is better to get off and walk or if we should transfer.

Our flight arrives from US at 7:15 pm on a Wednesday so not sure how long it will take us with customs etc.

    Thanks!!!!
