  1. My friend, who has a Peruvian passort, and I sailed to Cozumel in January. He was asked for his passport and S&S card while I only was asked for my S&S card.

This was not entering the ship but rather at the entrance to the dock area.

I'm not saying this is the norm, but more so sharing our experience.

  2. OP

I've stopped booking balcony cabins for the exact reasons that you mentioned.

I now only book OV. I also book them on the Riveria deck, which in my opinion, seems to be a little more quiet.

Everyone has their own opinion on balcony cabins, but I don't miss them one bit.

Additionally, try sailing during late October and right after Thanksgiving. Also certain times in January are less stressful. I sailed on the Paradise January 26 sailing and it was less crowded and crazy compared to Spring break and Summer.

I also enjoy the Fantasy class ships much more than the larger ships with all of the bells & whistles.

Everyone has their favorite class of ship so it's just a matter of what features are most important to the cruiser.

    😊

  3. These 3 hotels all have almost identical cruise pkgs.

    1)

    Holiday Inn Express & Suites

    Phone: (813) 287-8585

Address: 3025 N Rocky Point Dr E, Tampa, FL 33607

    2) Hampton Rocky Point

    3) Chase Suites Rocky Point

I've stayed at the Holiday Inn twice and had a positive experience. I would however, go with the best rate.

All 3 are next to each other with a Bahama Breeze Restaurant adjacent to the parking lot.

They all have an airport shuttle, complimentary breakfast and a roundtrip shuttle to/from the port...Back to the hotel or to Tampa Airport.

Not all cruise hotels have the airport shuttle or the shuttle back after the cruise.

I, personally, like having everything rolled into one package.

Rocky Point Island us 5 minutes from the airport and a 15 min shuttle to the port.

All 3 hotels plus the restaurant overlook Tampa Bay....It's a very pretty view and perfect pre cruise.

  4. If you're arriving late and just want a clean , decent hotel in a good area, try the LaQuinta Tampa Airport. They have a courtesy airport shuttle and complementary breakfast. The hotel is adjacent to a 24 hr IHOP and across from the International Plaza Mall that has lots of restaurants with some open late.

The rates here are very good so for what you save take Uber or a Taxi to the port. I do believe the hotel offers a shuttle to the port for a few $ per person....So just weigh out the cost of that -vs- Uber or a cab.

    Have fun
