  1. I have a question, hopefully you all can help.  We are new to the shareholder business, but my husband has purchased the Carnival shares.  My question, do the names on the cruise and on the shareholder proof have to match?  I am taking my daughters on a quick get away next June to kick off my 60th birthday month!  He isn't going on this trip.  Would they approve the OBC for my cabin, or must it be to his name?  Just curious at this stage of the game.  Thanks!

  2. I teach 4th grade and the Pandemic pushed me into retirement. Education has gotten so political it is taking the fun out of it. My husband watched the stress each day over the past 2-3 years....and told me..."you are done".  I have promised to substitute for my dear friends, because our subs are few and far between due to pandemic. So....June 10, I end 24 yrs in public education! June 13 we sail to Alaska on NCL and next summer, we go on a Viking River cruise in Europe.

  3. I'm hoping all of this is taken off their website April 1.

Travel to Canada: Requirements for vaccinated travellers

Starting April 1, 2022, pre-entry tests will no longer be required for fully vaccinated travellers entering Canada by land, air or water. Until then, follow the pre-entry test requirements.

I think we are all reading the "Until then, follow the pre-entry test requirements"...maybe the Pre-entry test requirement will disappear April 1 and things will be more clear.

  4. I like this part...since we are both fully vaccinated and flying into Canada from the US.  Norwegian has a chart on their Safe Sail part of the website that explains sailing out of a Non-US port test within 3 days. So we embark on Monday, we can test on Friday before leaving Texas.

    Pre-entry testing (accepted types, timing)

Starting April 1, 2022, pre-entry tests will no longer be required for fully vaccinated travellers entering Canada by land, air or water. Until then, follow the pre-entry test requirements.

  5. Before Canada changed their testing rules recently, we were going to need testing for NCL before we boarded.  NCL is partnered with Inspire Diagnostics to do the Proctored Online Home Test....we were going to do it from our hotel room. But now we are just going to use it at home before we fly out...it will still be in the time frame to use for NCL.  You may check with your cruise line...I know emed also offered something similar.  https://testfortravel.com/covid-19-testing-locations/?page=1&coordinates=49.26357%2C-123.13857&location=Vancouver BC%2C Canada&proximity=50&types_of_tests[]=1565&action=filter_locations

  6. We will be staying the overnight in Anchorage on my birthday in June, before flying back to Texas after our cruise. I would love suggestions & recommendations for a special place to have dinner and celebrate my birthday and the end of our Alaskan adventure!  Thanks so much!

  7. We are cruising out of Vancouver, flying in from Texas for a few days before our embarkation. We are getting our PCR test here at home in order to fly into Canada. We are sailing on NCL...and will need a negative result withing 48 hrs of embarkation. I ordered online-proctored test we can do from the Hotel room from NCL recommended Inspire Diagnostics.  We even have our appt scheduled on Sunday AM before we sail on Monday.  It would be nice if all of the testing would be relaxed by June but I'm ready if it isn't!

  8. We rented a car in 2019 and took off toward Totem Bight State Park...went past it and came to the "End" of the road! Literally...road ends...we parked and took off on a beautiful hike...Lunch Falls Trails.

Then worked our way back into town, stopping at Totem Bight...even stopped at the Walmart and picked up a few things we forgot to pack. If I remember we used Alaska Car Rental also.

  9. We booked a June 2022 cruise out of Vancouver thinking the borders would be open by then.  We have cruised from and to Vancouver, but have never actually visited the city itself. Next summer, we plan on arriving a couple of days early and enjoying Vancouver before setting sail to Alaska! Fingers crossed it all works out as planned!

  10. We enjoy our balcony on a 7 day cruise, but in 2019 went on HAL 14 day ....we could have 14 days in an ocean view for same cost of 7 days  with a balcony.  We loved our 14 day adventure.  The only time we were in our room was to sleep.  The ocean view allowed us to see outside in the morning and evening...so we knew which way the ship was moving..lol!  We spent days on deck or inside near a window, if we were at sea.

I say get the most for your money!  You are going to enjoy Alaska wherever you are looking from.

  11. We did two cruise tours, one with RC and one with Princess, then I told my hubby that I could plan our next trip. I've planned 2 after that. Do your research, make your plan,  and go explore. It's not difficult and you are on your own time schedule. Enjoy your tirp!

  12. We've rented cars in Juneau and Skagway. Juneau, we visited the Shrine of St Terese, the Glacial Gardens, and Mendenhall Glacier on our own, plus a stop at Alaska Brewery for my hubby.  Skagway is easy to see on foot, or on their car tour. The NPS offers a walking tour as well.  We rented our car and drove up to Emerald Lake in the Yukon and really enjoyed the beauty of the area.  This summer we have cars rented in Juneau, Ketchikan,  Anchorage, and Kodiak.  It is our 5th time to Alaska, and first trip on HAL for 14 days.  We are looking forward to exploring some new sights.

  13. We are booked on a 14 day cruise on HAL in June. My hubby has fished in Ketichikan and in Seward.  He wants to find a charter in Homer.  We are scheduled to be in port from 8am - 6pm.

Any recommendations are welcome as we do research to try and find a charter.  Thanks so much!
