  1. Thank you all. these are very helpful and it sounds very attractive. and the description of the people vibe is appealing. It sounds  warm and engaging without being pompous . The enrichment and lectures sound great. I would be delighted without the cheap sales, casinos or people who seem to believe a camera is on them. Do they have things like quizzes or other such entertainments throughout the day?

    Again, I appreciate your contributions.

  2. My husband and I have sailed on princess, celebrity, Royal Caribbean, norwegian and..ahem Carnival. We're looking at QM2 trip. Its so hard to get a feel for what Cunard and The Queen Mary are like. Can someone perhaps offer some insight. If it helps, in comparison and contrast to these other lines.  Thanks so much in advance to anyone who can assist.

  3. Carnival for me is like the Las Vegas of cruising. I like that sometimes lol!

    pretty much.

There is no question that the vibe of princess is quite different from carnival. in talking about both (we've done cruises on many different lines) we've used the terms class, elegance, upscale, professional socioeconomic group, more sedate, older, mature, as more applicable to Princess; rowdy, younger, louder, working class, more tattoos, aggressive partying, tackier to carnival. Having said that we've never had a cruise we didn't enjoy and there are elements to both that are strengths, there are things carnival does better, things princess does better. Its about knowing what you want on the whole, what vibe fits you. I enjoy parties, and i know what kind of parties I will have fun at, what i find boring. You know what you like. Something for everyone basically.

  4. You asked a troll-like question and nineteen people answered it, some of whom were aboard.

    What IS your problem?

guys, no amount of information, including a declaration from up on high, will get a troll to yield. dont try to reason with him (that's why im trying to reason with y'all)

You know we dont have to have all the answers to everything. some times we can just not know.

let be happy everyone is safe.

  5. Just saw more sensationalist reporting from the Weather Channel, with lots of "terrified" and "cruise from hell", et cetera. Funny, but on Monday morning after the storm, from that point until Wednesday night I saw nothing on board but happy smiling people. No one was cowering in a corner in tears, no one was petrified or screaming, "Get me off this ship!!" Funny how the news media always goes out of its' way to make the most of a bad situation. My wife and I have been going out of our way in the opposite direction in spite, telling people who ask us that it was "funny" to try to walk around the cabin during the storm. As we passed all the news media maggots on the pier last night, my wife yelled out, "It wasn't that bad!" as we weaved our way through the carrion-pickers to get to the garage quickly.

obviously i can't say how -ehem- "fair and balanced" the news is since i wasn't on the ship. (I know, dont let that stop you). But i imagine some people felt more nervous than others. people have different levels of anxiety. But regardless of all that, you guys sound like the sort of folks we'd hang with :) thanks for the post.

  6. I am opening this thread for anyone on the Feb 6th Anthem of the Seas cruise to post any of there Storm thoughts pictures or videos. We all went through the something most of us will never forget. Let's save this moments and thoughts here.

so, getting back to the original topic, i was wondering if any one had other pics or video that they were agreeable to sharing? Perhaps when they get back. Glad y'all are safe and well.

  7. I think most of us on the ship right now have a similar view on this. It was scary and during the highest winds there were times you wondered what the outcome would be. But today you look back and realise that the captain did a fantastic job at getting us through what he described as his worst day at sea ever.

The ship has sustained some damage but most of it looks superficial and the crew are already clearing it up with temporary repairs where necessary. The gally crew and housekeeping guys have been great to get things back up and running as quickly as they have not forgetting they've had exactly the same experience we've had so full marks to them as well.

Whether the captain could have avoided this is irrelevant since it's now in the past and if he did anything wrong people with more knowledge and information than anyone on board the ship or on this board will do the analysis and reach the appropriate outcome. So rather than jump to conclusions I'm happy right now to applaud him and his team for getting us through the night as safely as they did.

As has been said there is some uncertainty as to what we will be doing for the rest of this week but whatever that is its unlikely to be as bad as last night so that is a positive in my book.

For those of you not on board the ship that have formulated negative opinions on the rights and wrongs of this situation remember you weren't here so clearly have no idea what you're talking about.

Overall we're alive and well, life has pretty much returned to normal and we have a bit more that 5 days of our holiday left so we're going to make the most of that while we can.

glad youre well and thank you for the reason you are able to bring to bear after an ordeal while so many people no where near the situation can't.

  8. I am on Anthem and there has been no talk about the ship being so badly damaged that we will be disembarking tomorrow.

Captain has said he has been to busy dealing with the storm to figure out what time we will be arriving in Port Canaveral.

What I heard at the muster drill was that the seas are always a little rough around Hattaras so be prepared for it. Never heard we would be going through a storm.. In fact the compass for the day said it was going to be partly cloudy

    Stay safe.

  9. Also on Anthem - I am ex Navy - this storm is no joke Captain is earning his keep. Winds of 100mph and 30ft seas. Ship is doing pretty well but we are listing from strong side winds. Ship is headed back north they say they expect this to last 3 to 4 hours. There is some damage you can see in web cams mostly things not tied down and water coming in. I am ***** deck 11 and a few times my balcony has had several inches of water. The captain and crew are doing there best. I do not think anyone anticipated weather like we are getting now

thanks Navy. All the best to you and yours, and everyone on board.

  10. No need to cruise now; after reading this I am sitting in a pool of tears. We will be on Allure next week. I am 62 and thought i might give the '"FlowRider" a try but fear breaking something. If I get the courage I will do it in honour of Camille. Thanks for sharing. Kudos to Rojda and the RC staff.

We will be on allure next week too. hope to see you there..

    - Glad to hear that the staff and cruisers all entered in to the spirit of what the vacation is about.
