  1. I have been trying really hard since the beginning of the year to lose some weight and get back to the gym, so far I have lost only 1 pound. I was so depressed on Friday morning when I got off the scale I wanted to hurl it at the mirror. I did not, I told myself to just keep pushing on. I take a ton of vitamins so I rarely get sick. Just keep pushing on that's all we can do. Have a good week!

  2. Me and the missus walked the Phoenix Japanese Friendship Garden today, along with the Irish Heritage Center and the rose garden at the college. Too perfect of weather to stay indoors.

Hope everyone else has a good weekend!

:) Lovely photos thanks for sharing. I to wish I had some warm weather to walk around in. Cold and snow today here.

  3. I finally dropped a pound this week, I think the fitness band has help remind me to keep moving, I got the DH back on board so that makes it easier since we help each other out. We have a tanner at the gym so I make sure I hit the treadmill or elliptical for at least 20 when I go to tan. After all the holidays we now have family birthdays that are making things hard, who doesn't love cake? luckily for me my son is a small eater so we can split a piece of cake and were both good with that. I have been really good so far about splitting a meal if I do happen to eat out also, sometimes I think it is just a mind set. I hope everyone has a good week. :)

  4. I need to lose 20. I love the marble idea it is so visual I think it could work for me. The husband and I were doing so good until after our last cruise, we lost our sons best friend who was like a son to us and we both fell off the wagon (so to speak) with the eating. We are both ready to get back on track and have started back to the gym and back to good eating habits. Candy jars are filled with almonds and the fruit bowl is filled with fruit. Marble jars will be going later today. Good luck to all of you!

  5. :) Looking good Brooke, I haven't been on cruise critic for a long time. Job was taking up all my spare time, we installed a new system and since I was one of the only ones who understood how it worked I got to train everyone else. Now it is me time and back to exercise and good eating, I was such a slacker for the past several months.:( Now I got some working out to do. I hope all is going good in your life.

  6. I am headed back to work tomorrow. It was really stressful at work since July when we got a new scanning system. I was one of the only ones who understood how it worked so I got to teach everyone else and fix all the screw ups, when we left for holiday break everyone was starting to get how it works. We have a gym at work so hopefully I will be able to use it. I like water so I drink a lot daily, coffee and one maybe one pop. Good luck to all, I have to get my body in motion.

  7. I was in shock this morning when I stepped on the scale, I have been trying to watch what I have been eating and even went all New Years Eve with no drink. I have been going to the gym and doing palates and have gained weight. I am not discouraged just a little surprised, could be muscle mass instead of fat. I do feel toner and have more energy. Good luck to all of you and Happy New Year. I would like to lose about 20 pounds before my cruise in December. I got an app on my phone to track my food and exercise so hopefully this will help me.

  8. This is crazy, I have a wheelchair bound son with Muscular Dystrophy and he exercises daily. I get that you want to jump start your diet because when you see results it makes you want to keep going. I joined this late but I will try the diet because after the holidays and booking a cruise I would like to get back into eating a more healthy diet and I believe this will be a good kick start to it. :) Happy New Year to all and good luck.

  9. :)Tomorrow is your big day, Lucky you have a great trip.

Good luck on the 30 lb. challenge, Brooke!!

I hope everyone is doing well. We have been keeping busy and staying low carb. We bought a grill over the summer, so have been grilling steaks, hamburgers and Italian sausages for some great, low carb meals. I love the Walden Farms no calorie BBQ sauce and use it on hamburgers. I also use the Walden Farms no calorie mayo with my chopped up hard boiled eggs in the morning.

I also made the low carb eggplant parmesan last week and that was a big hit. Keeping with the Italian theme, I did meatballs (ground pork, beef, parmesan cheese and lots of spices) topped with Rao Vodka sauce (4 g of carbs per 1/2 cup).

My one downfall has been the special that Flemings Steakhouse has been running on Sun. night for a 3 course prime rib dinner. DH and I did that a couple of times and they do a chocolate lava cake for dessert that is even better than the WCMC served on Carnival. Well, I've had that cake a couple of times in the past couple of months, but I figure one "treat" once in a while is ok. I know they are national chain and if you have one near you, the 3 course prime rib dinner on Sun nights for $39.95 is wonderful. Sometimes they have specials and have it for $29.95, which was the case for Halloween week.

We leave on a cruise on 11/23/13 so that I will make platinum on Carnival this year. Just a short 5 day one on the Ecstasy out of our home port of Port Canaveral. Thought about squeezing in a 2nd one before 12/31/13 so DH could also make platinum (he is one cruise behind me), but the timing doesn't work out and with Faster to the Fun, I see no need to really stress about it. We had thought if he also made platinum, it would be nice to book him in one room and me in another so the kids could get the platinum benefits. But, for $50 a room, we can buy the kids the platinum benefits. Oddly enough, this close to sailing Faster to the Fun is even still available on our sailing.

As I get older, the phrase "never say never" keeps coming to mind. I always hated sports, especially American Football. Well, DD is a freshman at FSU, so we have been keeping track of the Seminoles Football team and what do you know, once DH explained the game to me, I kind of like watching it!!! Now, I'm ready to go to our local Seminole Booster Club to watch a game at a bar with others to really party during the game! Who would have thought!

    Hope everyone is doing well!!

  10. :) Been super busy 10-12 hour days at work it is just crazy, glad everyone is doing okay. PCrum enjoy your cruise. Brooke, how is the house coming along? Feeling more secure now that you have been there for awhile? My son says I'm a workaholic so I may never get time for another cruise, bet he is wrong. I am still looking when I have a moment. Hope to have more time soon.

  11. Brooke :) How are things going? No post for a while hope all is good and the house is moving along. :) I have been enjoying life also trying to pick a cruise, I am still not sure about Alaska, I love warm hate cold but the beauty might win out my neighbors are due back next week they went to Alaska for a month. I would so love to do Hawaii, no one flies in my house so it would be a really long drive to California then like a 17 day cruise, maybe in a dream I could vacation that long  it is a thought. Post when you have a free moment and tell us how the house is going.

  12. This thread is very quite since Brooke doesn't post that often anymore.

Hope all is well with everyone.

Brooke, I hope all is going well with your house.

:) I agree, it has been a really busy summer for me but I do think about Brooke now and then. Hope it is your house that is keeping you busy.

  13. :) How is everyone doing? Busy with the summer I hope, I have been keeping busy but I do think about you girls on here now and then and I hope all is good with you. Still haven't booked that next cruise, it is still a toss up at our house Bermuda or Alaska I am not a fan of the cold but Alaska looks really pretty, pcrum has let me see her lovely photos. IDK still don't like the cold I live in Michigan and it is to cold here most of the time for me. Brooke I hope your doing okay and your busy with your house. Check in sometime and enjoy the summer.:)

  14. :) You will be so busy when you get your house it will keep you motivated and motivation is a key to all weight loss. My son had a tracheotomy a couple of years ago, it was supposed to be temporary but he can breath so much better he is thinking he might just keep it. He eats and talks normally so it doesn't really bother him at all, just the look of it. When he gets sick it is a big plus because we can keep his lungs cleaned out. Your grandpa will not like it at first but he will be happy with the end result. Try to keep yourself busy and focused. :)

  15. :) Thanks for checking in, glad to hear things are starting to work out for you. Sorry to hear about your grandpa it has to be a strain on all of you. I hope your dad is doing good on his new diet and is healthier for it. Your house will keep you busy that is for sure and a broker. Keep on keeping on.:)

  16. :) nice to see you back on here Brooke, my son lost his best friend on Easter so I haven't been to focused this week. I work out with my daughter and believe me it is much easier when we push each other, hopefully you and your mom can push each other. Good luck with the work promotion always a plus when you like your job. Keep up the good work.:)

  17. :) Hi Rachielnnn glad your focusing on your weight loss, it has been a long cold winter. I have skipped the gym many of nights not wanting to get out in the cold, I have been slowly going back. I use the elliptical machine when i go to the gym. We eat mostly healthy at my house, mostly turkey and chicken very little beef. My DH cooks, a few years ago he was told he had high cholosterol a few years ago and he did not want to take medication to contol it so he went on a health kick and we all eat better and feel better so 3 years later it is just part of our life. Good luck, pcrum has been doing really good with her weight loss also. I am going to try to stay more focused on the gym and loss the few winter pounds I have gained being lazy. :p
