Is the main dining room open for breakfast and lunch on days when docked at Coco Cay?  We will be on the Enchantment of The Seas January of 2023.

    Thank you for any information.

The main dining rooms are generally closed for lunch on all port days.  I THINK I remember them being open for breakfast, but I won't swear to it.

  2. You can snorkel with your own equipment for absolutely no cost.

It's a nice place to just grab a lounge chair and chill for the day.

The ship brings down food that is no charge.  Of course I'm sure they're charging for certain things now, but I'm good with the food that's free.

  3. These can change at any time. New cruise director, new activity manager, new itinerary, etc.

Yep. The documents are just for reference. Please do NOT expect everything to be the same on your sailing. Even if it's next week. Things change, and there is NO warning.

The documents I provided are just what was on OUR cruise. Your cruise will probably be somewhat different.

  4. The windjammer will also cover a plate with plastic wrap if you want to bring cookies, fruit or a slice of cake back to your room for later.:)

Not always. They just told us to cover the plate with another plate. Weird, and it's the first time that's ever happened, but that's what we were told on the Allure last week. We've been given plate covers (with the hole in the top like the dining room uses) on previous cruises, and plastic wrap on another cruise. We now bring ziploc bags to keep a few cookies in the room (they tend to stop making the sugar free chocolate chip cookies toward the end of the cruise so we hoard a few to get us through) :)

  5. Finally finished! I wanted to upload them directly to CC, but I ended up having to host them and post links. I'll keep these up for the next year or so. I hope someone gets some use out of them!

I will mention that the showtimes schedule is a little different than what we were expecting. Mama Mia was cancelled for our showing, so they rescheduled it for the last sea day. Unfortunately, the two lady cast members were still ill, so we didn't get to see it.

The comedy shows on the last night are something that I didn't expect prior to boarding. There is a family friendly version early, and an adult version later that night. Same comedians as in the Comedy club, but different material. We went to the family and adult shows. The first comic did the same material with stronger language. The second comedian was hilarious and did a completely different show. We were glad that we stayed to see him.

Feel free to comment if you wish to do so! Thanks!

  6. I kept most all of the literature from my cruise with the idea that some of you might want to see it. I know it was nice when I found stuff like this before my cruise.

This is basically just the Compass for every day, and some Diamond literature.

    Enjoy!

(I ask that nobody posts in this thread until I get all of the days (7) posted. I'm having technical difficulty at the moment)

  7. Sorry to ask but what’s DDH mean?

Don't be sorry. I don't understand half of what all of these abbreviations mean. I'm on a dozen other forums, and this is the only forum I'm on that people don't take the time to type out what they mean and expect you to know what their abbreviations mean. Dear Divorced Husband? Dedicated Deck Hand? Who the F**k knows!?!

    Rant over.

    Have a nice day.

    BTW: Hucifer, good stuff!

  8. I respectfully disagree. Our first cruise was in 1998 on Grandeur. At the time there was only the MDR or the Windjammer available (as I remember).

Don't forget about the limited Solarium offerings (Pizza, Burgers, etc...). We were on the Grandeur in 1997 and I believe they had a little food area set up in the corner. We were on it again in 2005, and I remember the same.

  9. I think it was 2007. Day/Night 1 (for about 36 hours or so) we had 42' waves + or - of course. Waves crashing over the bow, etc.... (Explorer OTS)

In my opinion, the first days of a cruise are the best time to have bad weather. By the end of the cruise, everything will be smooth sailing, and THAT'S what they'll remember.

  10. I'm not sure why people can't just spell things out. Half the time I'm wondering what they mean by "DH" "SO" "AOS", etc.... How long does it take to at least spell it out the first time so we know what you're talking about?!

If you're a forum junkie, you might not have a problem, but if you are away for a year or two and come back, it gets crazy with all of the initials.

  11. The last time I wore my tux on a cruise (2015?) I was only one of a handful. I have no plans to bring it or any "dress up" clothes on my Allure cruise in Jan. In fact, we're skipping the whole MDR entirely and just going for a casual trip.

My wife and I are somewhat disappointed in the direction that things are headed, but it is what it is. We have a long list of things that disappoint us on every cruise that we take, but it's not enough to make us stop cruising. We just adapt and remember the "good old years" (I'm only 40 hehe). We have felt that service has gone down hill on just about every cruise since our 2nd or 3rd ( early 2000s). Then we'll get a waiter or some staff member that just blows it out of the park and it's all better. We try not to base our view of the trip on a few people (waiters, assistant waiters, head waiters, cabin stewards, etc...) because we know that they are only 1 of hundreds (thousands?) that are onboard trying to give people what they want.

You can please all of the people some of the time, you can please some of the people all of the time, but you CAN'T please ALL of the people ALL of the time! :)

  12. We just drove from Ohio back in 2015. It really wasn't bad. 2 days of driving, but it still beat all of the hassle and BS associated with flying.

I was going to drive to Ft. Lauderdale this year as well until I found round trip tickets with carry-on and checked bag for $350 TOTAL for the 2 of us. I can't drive for that.

Edit: I see that it was 20 hours for us, 35 for you.... That might be a little long to drive.. :)

  13. Question: Does anyone know if the Windjammer does that on all lobster nights? Fleet wide? We will be on Navigator in January 2018 and we are hoping they do, because we have no plans to do formal night.

I'd like to know this as well. This, being our 9th cruise, we're kind of over the MDR, and want to travel light and not worry about getting dressed for a 2 hour dinner. We've enjoyed it at times in the past, but we're looking forward to a "simpler" cruise this time. I've been wondering if the lobster is available in the WindJammer. I'm sure like with anything else, if you make nice with the waitstaff, they'll help you out, but it would be nice to know if it's available without a special request.

  14. I had a bad experience with a staff member accusing me of something that I had not done, so I wrote it in on my survey. I expected to at least get an email or a phone call saying that they were sorry that I was treated in such a manner.

I received nothing. Because of that, I feel that these surveys are worthless. Most of the cruise was great, and we're easy to please for the most part, but i detest being accused of wrong doing, and it REALLY rubbed me the wrong way. I'm not holding it against the cruiseline, and I understand that on the last day (when this occurred) everyone is stressed out and things happen, but at the time, I was seeing red.

    Rant finished.... :)
