  1. 20.1 MP

    24-600 f/2.4 - f/4

24 FPS (JPEG or RAW) with tracking and exposure up to 249 frames

    Stupid fast AF .03 sec

Stacked 1" sensor with increased readout speed to reduce video panning distortion

    315 Phase-detect points with 65% coverage

    Full sensor oversampled 4K video

$1699 (ouch!) - But, it could conceivably replace a lot of equipment.

Still not for me, but if one does a lot of still plus video, this is the premier camera in it's class.

    Dave

It is a fabulous camera, perfect for travel. :)

  2. We are new to Oceania and have read great reviews and we are looking forwards to our first O cruise. This cruise is going to have many sea days and we would like to find out the following information

    1. How are the lectures in O cruises? We are used to have magnificent lecturers for topics related to the places we will be visiting while traveling with other cruise lines. Also we enjoy very much the port lectures who provide not only history but also very useful information about each port for the passengers who like to travel independently.

    2. We have heard great reviews about the food and realize that we need to keep a good exercise program for our own health. Does O provides a free classes program (for example Zumba) for their passengers? I am aware of the gym but would like information about free classes.

    3. Does O offer free Crafts, photography classes, etc?

Can someone share their experience? Thanks

  3. Just off the Marina 12 day Baltic cruise.

Yes, robes and slippers in every cabin. One large golf umbrella in each cabin- we used only 1 day when we had rain- but if windy, it does not have wind vents- and with the big "O" trademark on it. Always carried a small compact umbrella in a backpack for showers, plus hooded windbreaker jackets. Binoculars not available in PH and below.

Made our specialty restaurant reservations on line- targeted sea nights in the advance reservations. But were able to get additional reservations for all specialties on the cruise, especially the nights we were in port- the additional were tables for 4 or 6. Was extremely satisfied with all of the food served in all of the restaurants- quality and served HOT! Often tried multiple appetizers for the flavors and in Toscana you could get an appetizer portion of pasta. Polo and Toscana also have the quintet dessert tasters. Try it all - you will not be unhappy with the food.

Although, I did prefer the rack of lamb served in the specialties vs. Terrace- in the latter I thought the "lollipops" were too thin compared to the large rack sections served elsewhere where you could get medium rare to rare doneness and cut this portion down the middle to have a nice chop seared on one side, and red on the other. Yes, you could get medium rare to rare doneness on all meats on this cruise. We don't get very much veal in the NW, so veal was special for us- especially the veal chop in Polo- 12 ounces of meat with a 12 inch rib bone- a very impressive presentation on a rectangular plate-rivaled the veal chops I've had in NY, Dallas and Chicago restaurants (I know, heresy to some of you on this board). So...with veal and lamb everywhere, we didn't do too much beef but what I saw others eating, it looked great. And... lobster, prawns and fish are also available everywhere and done perfectly.

    Thank you sor sharing!

  4. We decided to go in their first O World cruise because their passengers trust their management and like quality of their product; we have never sailed with O but have the most wonderful memories from the now extinct Renaissance cruises. After hearing the news about the merger, I am not sure that we would had booked the World Cruise if we knew that before doing it. I would appreciate very much hearing from Frank Del Rio to tell us what to expect from the merger. It is not that much to ask.

  5. We took cruise in 2011 on Nautica. Bangkok no shuttle needed we were right there, Saigon docks right in the city, Ko Samui able to walk to the town, Hanoi we docked in Ha Long Bay and were three hours from Hanoi however they did have a shuttle from the dock to a little market place and where you can take a tour of Ha Long

    Bay.

    Hope this helps

Thank you very much for your response. It really helps:)!

  6. Just back from our Aug 5-15 Barcelona-Lisbon cruise on Insignia. Our 4th trip with Oceania. Once again a great way to visit new places for us. As usual loved the food, the service and the size of Insignia. We were able to list a number of folks to give kudos to due to their attention during our cruise. We can confirm that the bars and restaurants on board are indeed having to charge the 10% tax on alcohol purchases when cruising from ports in Spain. So calculate that into your costs, and perhaps opt to bring on board a local bottle of wine for dinner and pay the corkage. It was also great to be docked at each port we visited so that tendering (and all that goes along with that) did not factor into our time ashore.

Now for the not so good parts of our experience that Oceania has been pretty much unresponsive to. The cabin air-conditioning was not working properly on embarkation day and that night along with night #3 (a night so bad that what I wore to bed was soaked through as were the bed sheets and pillows) and others. After bringing this to the attention of the staff as of day one and hearing that other cabins were having the same problems, the ship issued notification cards that regular maintenance would be having an impact to the a/c functionality.

We also expressed our displeasure with a trend that occurred on a number of shore excursions in Spanish ports. In Ibiza we were on Wine Tasting at Sa Cova – my recommendation is to avoid this one. The winery was nice enough but the tasting was poorly paced, taking way too long to work through 4-5 wines. The wines were lacking in any character that would inspire a purchase – and we purchased at every other winery we visited during the cruise. Actually out of our entire bus, no one purchased a bottle here. Hoping to salvage the excursion we looked forward to the next stop on the tour, a visit to the village of Santa Gertrudis, looking forward to capturing some photos and a taste of village atmosphere. But for some reason this stop was eliminated as the guide kept referencing a dinner back on the ship.

In the port of Valencia we took Explore Sagunto and Valencia – again a part of the excursion description was not delivered on. After visiting the Roman Theater we were supposed to head further up to the castle complex. Our guided opted out of the castle complex citing the distance and amount of time required to reach it and nothing really being there. Again not delivering all of what Oceania used to help us decide which excursions to book.

In the port of Malaga, we booked Mijas: The Charm of Village Life. What a cute place that we enjoyed walking around and photographing. Even stopped for a glass of wine at a lovely venue. However the excursion was listed as being a 5-hour tour, yet the guide showed us her paperwork from Oceania to be back at the ship in 4 hours. This amounts to a 20% deduction of time, yet no corresponding 20% deduction in cost of the excursion.

We still love Oceania and will be back for a 5th cruise on one of their ships, we’ve now been on all but Riveria. Just wish that the company had not been impacted by these fumbles and a lack of responsiveness to our insights and complaints. We expected more from Oceania in terms of some kind of resolution when paying a good deal of money for something not delivered as described.

For those who fly out from Lisbon, if you have not done so before, allow extra 30 minutes or so to make it through passport security which comes up the last thing prior to getting to your gate. Also know that you will print your boarding passes prior to approaching baggage check-in.

Thank you! We will be sailing on Insignia in January, can you share with us if the A/C problem was solved and how fast or slow was the Internet service? Thank you
