    Hi

    I need your advice.

I am booked on the Panama Canal Cruise December 20, 2020 from LA down the Mexican coast thru the Canal and back to FTL.  I know our ports here in South Florida are not open yet but I think the Mexican ports are.. I don;t think LA port is open yet.

I am bored out of mind and want to do something over the holidays.  Yes I know I live in Ft. Lauderdale and will be where a lot of people wish to be.............lol  Our % of virus is way down to less than 5%. I predict if after 14 days if there is not a spike after the Labor Day holiday weekend we will move into phase 2.

I want to plan a trip somewhere over the holidays once I decide what to do about this cruise. Our final payment is not until Oct 21. I want to start to look at places to go like maybe the Caribbean or even Mexico as much as I hate Mexico but don;t want to waste my time looking. Thought I might look for a resort all inclusive where i don;t have to go anywhere but relax. I asked my cruise planner at Princess and she has no idea and I asked her if it was selling and she said a little.

    Here is my question.

Do you think based on where the cruise is going do you think it will go? I am not asking if you think cruises will go by my travel date. I am asking based on where the cruise is going do you think it will go?

Thank you in advance for your kindness and advice

    Kathy

    Hi Kathy,
We are booked on this same cruise.
Assuming it’s not going to sail, I also looked at different types of vacations, places etc
Husband Is adamant we are staying home this year 😢

Which is probably a smart idea.......

I haven’t cancelled the cruise......waiting for Princess to cancel.

I don't know how you would define "many"..  We were on an Azamara cruise and those ships hold 700 passengers.  I would say 6 couples were there.  We had six hours in port and the cruise line ran their own excursion to the W Resort for $159 per person.  $318 per couple for a three hour beach day with lunch seemed crazy to us, so we searched Cruise Critic and Trip Advisor forums  and found Nikki.  Taxis were only $15 each way, if that.  The staff at Nikki is very welcoming and the beach is great.  I would guess the W is somewhat nicer and they do sell day passes for $60 or $70 per person, but they might not be available on days where they have deals with cruise lines.  Also, why pay $70 when you can pay nothing?

We went to the Nikki Beach Club & Resort. They don't charge entrance fees or beach chairs or hammocks.  The beach is beautiful and massages in the spa are cheap (and the spa is nice).  You can take a taxi up and back.  We walked outside the port to town to grab a taxi for less than what they charge at the port where your tender gets in.

The drinks aren't cheap, but they're good.  They also have an outdoor shower to clean off by the beach.  We ate lunch in town from the street vendors back in town.

Did many cruise passengers go to Nikki Beach Club & Resort?

  5. We were concerned about the same thing, so I just arranged for private car with Welcome Pickups (after reading many positive reviews). Costs 76 Euro, includes gratuity, and the driver will meet us in the Arrivals area of the airport. Gonna be too jet-lagged to worry about taxis, etc. Oh, and paid with credit card---I read that many taxis do not accept them.

    Thank you for your reply.

I think we will do the same. I like the idea of being able to pay with a CC.

  6. Sounds like there is always lots of taxis waiting at the airport.

Are mini van taxis common to be waiting?

Or if we require something abit larger than a sedan we should book a private transfer?

    Thank you

**** there are 4 adults but we will have more than 4 luggage.

  7. On one of our NCL cruises about a year ago we had a VERY new stateroom attendant.

He was always working late into the evening as he didn't have the speed like the experienced stateroom attendants.

One evening it was like 9:30 pm and along he comes and we just ask for the bathroom to be restocked.

He said he wanted to change our sheets, I insisted they were fine.....

He nicely explained they are required to change the sheets every two days!

He being so new he was going by the book
