  1. Interesting. We always have plenty of space for 4 suits.

We had a promenade cabin last time and picture this, two people, two wet suits, two rash guards, two pair of board shorts wet towels AND a swimsuit top ALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL in one very small bathroom. No place to put them, which was my point in my original post as to why we prefered a Jr. Suite because it has a large walk in closet, large bathroom AND a balcony to get the damp out of everything before we go off to dinner :)

JUST swimsuits would be no problem but I don't do a bikini on the Flowrider ;)

  2. Not to get into the fray ... they do advise against leaving items on the balcony.

Oh, I get that; however, when we go back to the cabin, we put them outside while we are getting ready for dinner (securing them to a chair) and then before we leave for dinner, we bring them inside and hang them in the bathroom.

I simply took took umbrage to his snarky comments ASSUMING we think we are above others and that could not be further from the truth. Bottom line is I don't like putting on a cold wet wetsuit in the morning and an inside cabin does not have a lot of room to hang things up.

He was rather rude about many posts and me thinks he needs a drink or maybe something stronger ;)

  3. And you are the reason they repeatedly announce not to do this. You have decided it doesn't apply to you, so you know better. That applies to lesser people, not you.

And I would care about you and your silly opinion because??????????

Also, WHERE does it say in my cruise contract that I cannot put a wet towel and/or shirt on my chair on the balcony. Last time I looked, they actually PROVIDED towels for our lounge chairs on the balcony. Who are you the balcony police? You really need to take a chill pill :)

  4. We started in a balcony cabin, then went to a Jr. Suite, Grand Suite, Crown Loft Suite, back to a Jr. Suite and the last cruise we opted for a PR cabin to save money and while it was a very nice cabin, I will have to say, NEVER AGAIN. Two drawbacks were, no tub and no balcony to put wet rash guards, board shorts and shorty wet suits on. So, every morning when we got up to head to the Flowrider, we were putting wet and very cold wet suits back on (our cruise in March on the IOS was VERY windy and cold the first 4 days, brrrrrrrr, we ended up renting wetsuits from the dive shop). Raptor's DW here and I really do not like showers so a tub is a must have for me :D It is a bit more expensive but for us, well worth the cost :p

  5. Thanks,

I know that you and Frank will be in charge of all flowrider contests! If you have a preference over short or longer itineraries, just let me know. I'm think prices might be more reasonable since Anthem will debut in the spring of 2015. Looking forward to making this cruise a reality!

7 days and above works for us :) I did look into airfare to Newark and it is ONLY $210 pp from Houston so it is cheaper than flying to Ft. Lauderale or Orlando :D

  6. I don't see Anthem replacing Freedom since Anthem is designed to handle cold weather, but I can definitely see Anthem replacing Independence. That would free up Indy, but with the way the Far East market is growing, I wouldn't be surprised in the least if Indy or Anthem went out there.

We will take the Indy in Galveston or the Freedom or Liberty, any one of them would be great :D Or, if the rumors I heard about them putting a Flowrider on the Voyager are true, heck, we would be happy with the Voyager out of Galveston :p

  7. Why wouldn't you want to leave from Houston over Galveston? The reviews indicate that Galveston is a mess in terms of disembarkation, it's 45 out of the way when flying in, and Houston has a new terminal. It's a no brainer .

From what I have read and heard about that cruise terminal in the Port of Houston, it will take a cruise ship two hours just to get out of the port and into open water, there was an issue with the pilot's union (I guess that has been resolved) AND I don't believe it is large enough for a Freedom class ship and without a Flowrider, we won't be sailing on it ;)

Here is a quote from one news story as to why that cruise terminal still sits empty:

"Local 2 Investigates discovered one thing that's not going to change is the time it takes the cruise lines to get ships from the Port of Houston out to sea. Several cruise ship industry experts said they believe that's one of the main reasons why cruise lines aren't coming to Bayport.

It takes a ship just 45 minutes to get out to sea from the Port of Galveston, but it takes twice that time -- around two hours -- to get from the Port of Houston through the ship channel and out to sea."

  8. So Galveston just needs to get an Airport:rolleyes:

Same thing when you sail on the Freedom, you have to fly into Orlando and then drive 45 minutes to an hour to Port Canaveral :) Granted, Galveston beaches are not NEAR as nice as Florida, but for us, it would be great to have a Freedom class in Galveston because then we could simply drive 45 minutes to Galveston and go on a cruise :p

  9. I don't know I don't have access :(. I'm assuming the same old itineraries, this is Royal Caribbean we're talking about ;). They said they are loaded into groups in Cruisingpower, so we should know soon.

I was hoping they would leave Galveston for Houston, but on well.

Why does everyone want to see RCCL leave Galveston? If you don't want to cruise out of Galveston, then simply don't ;) There are PLENTY of options from Florida and also ships in the UK to cruise on. Personally, I hope they bring a Freedom class ship to Galveston because, for us, we don't care where it goes, as long as we are on a ship and that ship has a Flowrider :D

The cruise terminal in the Port of Houston will be getting NCL and Caribbean Princess cruises in 2014 and 2015.

  10. I read that you can only purchase ONE drink at a time... how strict are they with this rule? I'm just thinking that between my husband and I, we would jointly share the responsibility of getting drinks. I may go to the bar once and get a cocktail and him a beer (2 drinks).... then the next time, he would go and get 2 drinks (his beer and my cocktail) and vice versa.... That way someone could be sitting with our stuff if we were at the pool or in another area of the ship.

That is a really good question. Usually, if we are out by the pool, I will order drinks for both of us and put it on my Seapass. Will we now be required to both give our Seapasses to the server so they can both be scanned?

  11. I have been looking forward to buying a watch on my next cruise. I know the watches are real but it’s always hard to know if you got the best price. On prices on the watches firm or will they negotiate a bit? Also do watches stay the same price through the whole week or get cheaper towards the end? Just a few things I have been wondering about.

I purchased a Tissot T-Touch watch in Grand Cayman last year and it was about $100 cheaper than it was on the ship. They will barter a little bit on the ship but not as much as the stores in port.

  12. If you ever wanted to see the truth of the old adage "one man's meat is another man's poison" just compare this response with a recently-posted review in the member review section about the March 5 sailing. The reviewer says it was their worst cruise ever and gives the ship one star MAINLY BASED ON HOW MUCH THEY HATED THE VIEW IN THEIR CABIN -- 1730!!!! In fact, the reviewer notes that once they saw the "horrible" view they asked guest services to change their cabin (apparently they thought they were in a hotel, where rooms are just sitting there vacant). According to the reviewer, their view was just of a big smokestack and people ziplining all day, with no real view of the ocean.

Not to take sides, but we just got off the Oasis where we had cabin 1738, just a few doors down, and the one-star reviewer is out of his or her mind (so I guess I AM taking sides). Raptor2010 is correct -- those crown loft balconies along the aft of the ship have GREAT views. You get to see everything going on on the sports deck, while at the same time you get sweeping sea views to the sides and off the back of the ship all around you.

But the single best views on the ship are at the two corners of loft suite section -- the sky suites on the port side and the Royal Loft on the starboard. Just breathtaking.

However, I assume the original poster was talking about regular balcony cabins or junior suites and, no, I don't think there are any aft balconies other than aqua suites on various decks and the loft suites on deck 17.

I agree with you, that one star poster is WAY off. Here is a picture from our balcony and we thought it was the best of both worlds, getting to see the ocean and everything going on on the sports deck, Boardwalk AND the Aqua Theater.

  13. I tried searching the board but I couldn't find the answer. Maybe it's too early in the morning and I missed it :p

I am wondering what is considered the "best" balcony room on Oasis. Is it true there are no afts? We normally go for those corner afts so this time I am at a loss. Any advice or tips would be much appreciated.

Crown Loft Suite 1730, smack dab in the middle of the back of the ship and GREAT views ;) We enjoyed it :D

  14. On our cruise in 2008 we saw a woman that had to be 80+ if she was a day and every morning her family would sit her in a chair by the pool and leave her there until the afternoon. Now, that in and of itself was not that odd but she had obviously enjoyed many many MANY years in the sun and it showed on her skin. She had the old 50s/60s style teased updo (what were those called bouffant?) AND she wore a different BIKINI (yes bikini ) every day. Every time we saw her, she was checking her watch and looking around.
