We received a conformation email at 9:15 this morning stating that we have a stateroom reserved and to proceed with making our travel plans.  I'm going to risk it and fly in early on the 6th (r/t BWI $350).  If I miss the ship, I'll just head to St Pete Beach for a few days!

Just a little reading down the board will find many suggestions, including our preference, the wonderful Rome in Limo.

$300 is extremely expensive, unless there is something we don't know here.

I tried them but they are booked for my dates.  Thanks all for the suggestions!

  3. Im also on the Jun 14 Anthem as well, me and my wife are looking for something other than walking old san juan. We went to some beach years ago, and it wasn't that great. So we decided to give Vivo beach club a try. Since my wife doesn't want to do the hand gliding excursion.

While trying to get some info on the beach club I noticed Carnival charges $30 less for the same excursion, and $50 less if you don't want the lunch option.

I'm on the June 14 on Anthem as well. We have 6 in our party and since we get in so early we decided it wasnt worth $95pp. Be sure to post how the excursion is!

  4. Beach itself is nice. Nothing much to see snorkeling there. Ample beach chairs, maybe not beds. Buccaneer Beach Bar is right there. Great drinks. You'd enjoy your day there. There's plenty other beaches to pick from also.

What other beaches would you recommend?

  5. highly recommend going here - http://karakterstmaarten.com/ - we were just there in April from AOS

absolutely beautiful, chairs and umbrellas are free (try to get there early) and food and booze is good and relatively inexpensive

We will be there in June on Anthem and the ship doesnt arrive till around noon. How was the traffic getting there and coming back? Wondering how much time we should plan for each way.

  6. We are a family of 6 adults. We are stopping in San Juan on a cruise and will be in port from 7am-2:30pm. Could someone recommend a nearby beach that we could taxi to? Looking for facilities, food/drink, chairs and umbrellas. Not interested in VIVO beach club which is like $95pp to go. Thanks!

  7. Thanks for the information. If you decide that you don't need a room and are looking for a beach day with food and drinks and a better beach I would suggest Karakter beach bar on Simpson Bay beach.

Anyone know how much a taxi from the port to Karakter Beach would cost for 6 people?
