We are looking for a close, nice safe beach to swim and do a little snorkeling for about 5 hours. I would like it safe for my wife while in the water. Does anyplace like that exist?

Nice shorts polo and leather sandals is what I wore 15 years ago on a 7 day and people i know were shocked that they let me in the dining room, I had better clothes that i for formal night. We had an aft cabin and front dining and did not want to walk all back to change each night after dinner. Is this just a Carnival thing? A friend of mine around the same time had his 18yr daughter turned away with dress shorts on Royal C. 

As far as the boozers I sometimes like the entertainment of those as long as they are not too obnoxious. We will see. 

We are doing a 3 day on Carnival Glory, it's been 15 years since we did a 7 day. We are traveling with just carry on's.  What's the dress code for dinner, can i get away with nice shorts and a button up shirt slip on canvas shoes ? The only long pants as was going to have are a thin pair of cargo type pants and not sure i can wear those to dinner either.
