The Medallion and the wonky app seem to have only complicated booking and taking a cruise with Princess. I've tried to work with the app, but I have little patience for having to enter information multiple times because it disappears the next time I open it. And I do not like trying to decide what time and where I want to eat weeks, even months ahead.
For my next Princess cruise, I'm going old school. I'll print my booking information and show up at the pier. If I want a drink, I'll flag down a server. If I want something to eat, I'll check my watch and the Patter and see what's available. Just weeks before that cruise, I have a cruise on Viking and there is no comparison to the pre-cruise rigmarole. No wonky app and I just show up with my booking information. They even mailed me sturdy tags for my luggage. It'll be an interesting comparison.
My idea of a cruise is to relax and enjoy being at sea. Don't complicate it.

Celebrity is offering refunds on cancelled excursions and for suite guests a 200 dollar OBC. What they should do is compensate a partial refund for the cruise. Imagine only 3 hours in Ketchikan.. why bother. Sitka also a terrible reduction of time at port. Even if it was a future credit that would satisfy me.

Have a 15 night transatlantic on hold right now. How boring would 7 days at sea be in April. Are there a lot of activities or should we bring plenty of books.

Our Edge sailing is January 30th and oddly enough I went out this morning and purchased a box of N95 masks. As long as the cruise doesn't get cancelled and the US/Canada borders are open we will sail. BTW: There are fewer guests on this ship than what would be in my local mall on any given day.
Our biggest concern is Celebrity getting us home to Canada. We sail out on the 9th. Conflicting posts being made. Some are saying that the cruising with confidence applies only to Americans flying home others say it applies to all passengers. Tried to get conformation from Celebrity to no avail.

I have been told that the onboard shopping is terrible and very expensive. Can we still get our duty free liquor and tobacco?

A little concerned about Celebrity pandemic protocol. I agree that all staff and passengers need to be fully vaccinated and be tested negative to board. My concern is regarding the "approved" vaccines. Sailing out of the USA the vaccines have to be approved by the FDA. The Astra Zenica is not approved by the FDA but is approved by the World Health Org.. Many Canadians and most of Europe and Great Britain have had the Astra Zenica. This vaccine was and is approved by these countries/regions.. Will Celebrity accomodate these passengers?

I will play with your suggestion. Thank you

This one got my attention for some reason. Possibly because the first thing I thought when I saw the thread title was who's getting shoes repaired in the Caribbean? 😁
Google can be fun. The Cobbler is supposedly one of the oldest cocktails out there. Originally made with sherry, and usually with fruit (I think berries). NOT muddled! Kind of an interesting story.
For the OP, just looking at the mix, I'd start by trying:
1.5 oz Rum
0.5 oz Cognac
1.5 oz Sherry
1.0 oz lemon juice
0.5-1.0 oz Simple Sugar
Shot of bitters
Most of the recipes I've seen online go for 3-4 total ounces of liquor, BUT, sherry is around 14% ABV and the others are 40-45%. If you go too heavy on rum and cognac, you're going to have a total alcohol bomb. For the traditional Cobbler with sherry, you could go 4 ounces and not have a crazy drink. I'm guessing the drink was rum heavy on board, and I'm also guessing almost no one could actually taste the cognac for the rum and sherry. I probably wouldn't go for more than 2 ounces total of rum and cognac for a standard sized drink. There are versions online that are pure sherry, pure whiskey or bourbon, pure rum, and some mix of a couple of liquors. Some with a fruit juice, and some without.
You'll have to play with the proportions and balance of flavors to see what comes close to what you remember. I'm thinking the sherry is going to play like a vermouth in a Manhattan, so that's probably what I'd vary first if it's not close.

Celebrity served this drinks for years in the main dining room. I notice that it not on any Celebrity menu now. Does anyone know how to make one? I do have the list of ingredients but not sure of the exact measurements.

I haven’t heard anything on my May 16 Alaska. Can no longer find it on Celebrity’s site, though. However, they do show five other Alaska cruises in May, 2021. I wish they would be more up front about things.
They are the worst for being upfront. I have been told different "tales" by Celebrity. I was told the Eclipse was going into dry dock for updating, then told no, the Eclipse has already been updated (false), that our May cruise was still a go regardless of the fact that it was more then 7 nights (false), then told that they have not officially cancelled this cruise. Its bad enough that we are kept in the dark but terrible that their staff that have direct contact with guests and/or TA's are also misinformed.

I agree 100%. We will be moving on

I just finished new email from X. All I can say is Wow. After reading all the great new benefits given to me as an Elite Plus with over 60 cruises, I can only say that I have only 1 more cruise left on X. I have been very loyal for the last 25 years, but this is the worst marketing move the CEO has ever made. I will be going back to being open to cruising with others after I use my credit voucher. I knew she would take this opportunity to use Covid as an excuse to reduce perks and sky lounge use. Extra parties and discounts on spa and photos and laundry pressing are not benefits. I just heard Princess Ceo yell with thanks to Lisa. Happy sailing to all when it starts.

Which cruise?
Alaska Cruise May 07/2021. It is for 9 nights
-
I have not received any word about cancelled cruises etc. Friends have told me that out May 07/2021 Alaskan cruise has been cancelled due to the length of the cruise. Celebrity does not show it on future cruises any longer but are still offering excursions at a reduced rate.
Also our Panama cruise for February 2022 has also been cancelled apparently. Again no word from Celebrity. Friends have received notification that it has been cancelled but again Celebrity has chosen to keep us out of the loop for both vacations. We are beyond frustrated
-
Has anyone been notified that this cruise has been cancelled? I have heard conflicting reports. Apparently it was because of the length of the cruise. Authorities have restricted the length to 7 nights.
So disappointed if this is the case. Booked this a year ago. We have had three cruises cancelled so far this year.

Boarding will be denied to any person with a severe, chronic medical condition, including those specified by the CDC. Guests of all ages will be screened prior to boarding, regarding underlying health issues that may prevent them from sailing. My question is if I am a type II diabetic that is healthy and only take oral medication will I be denied boarding for my cruise? I don't want to show up and be asked if I'm diabetic and be denied boarding. There are many diabetics who exercise, don't smoke and control their sugar levels and are healthier than non-diabetics.
I too have type 2 and controlled by diet and exercise. No drugs . The protocol is for 30 days and will be reviewed at that time. I am wondering if a doctor writes a note stating that you are healthy enough to take this trip will suffice

We are doing a back to back cruise and wonder if we have to get off our ship and retrieve our luggage or will our luggage be delivered to our suite. Celebrity cannot give us the same suite for both cruises.

We booked a Celebrity excursion (balcony for Mardi Gras parade) months ago. It has been paid for. When reviewing our account I see that we are booked for the excursion but there is a note that states "check onboard". I called Celebrity and the young lady said that we are to check onboard regarding the times and transportation. I am very suspicious. On previous cruises Celebrity cancelled some of our excursions once we were on board and never got to book anything else of interest to replace the cancelled ones. Has anyone else experienced this? Should we be concerned?

Are these city stays prior to a cruise worth reserving? We are thinking of London England.
-
We are thinking of doing the pre cruise package for three nights offered by Celebrity. We are considering the London England city stay. Has anyone tried this and what was it like?

just left Miami on January 21st. What a wonderful ship and crew. Our Cruise Connections meet and great was yesterday morning (the first sea day). Great turnout. Huge thanks to the Cruise Critic member who organized it. I did not get to thank you in person. The Eclipse Master of the Vessel and many of the Senior Staff attended and we were all warmly greeted and made to feel very welcome on board. It was a lovely event, greatly enhanced by the Captain and Senior Staff engaged presence. The Eclipse provided beautiful pastries and coffee and tea. We have attended quite a few Cruise Connections events. This was, by far, the best.
Who is the Captain and cruise director on this trip
Wasn't Cruising Easier Pre-Medallion?

I totally agree. Have cruised 23 times with Celebrity with no need of a medallion or an Iphone. Don't own one and don't plan on getting one. I will also go old school and if that does not work for us we will be going back to Celebrity. Wanted to try Princess but now not so sure
