    Open app

You should be able to fiddle with dates/times and restaurants

Thank you for this. I swear I looked through the entire app and didn't see where the restaurants were listed, but yup under the ship section. I was messing around a couple days before asking and I'm assuming it's been there the whole time and I just missed it.

Also it says on 2/10 I can book so that is the 45 day mark I was looking for confirmation on. Thanks all for your replies.

I don't mid the app, but I really wish they would allow people to do more then book through the website. Making everything exclusively through the app which isn't always as intuitive as I would think to find things is my only complaint so far with this cruise line. I've had no issues with the app crashing.

Now I can't wait to receive our bands.

  2. We sail on March 27th and are now 48 days out from our sailing. I'm pretty sure I've seen on the forum somewhere that you can start booking restaurants at 45 days for non rockstars. However, I can't find this on Virgin's website at all. It is 45 days out that you can start selecting restaurants, correct? If not then what is the days before sailing that restaurants can be booked?

Also what part of the app do these appear in? Is it under the "discover" section? The restaurants are currently not showing up anywhere in the app that I'm seeing. Seems weird that they don't discuss/promote the restaurants in better detail prior to sailing since that is one of the main ways they appear to be setting their line apart from the typical cruise lines.

  3. you can do a lot for your spouse as mentioned above, but we found that I couldn't do the Sign the Voyage Well form for my wife and she needed the app to complete that part. I'm guessing you could just wait until the cruise port to finish, but I'd recommend just both getting the app. As soon as my wife created an account it pulled in our reservation to her app without having to do anything and was simple to complete given it linked automatically.

  4. We are cruising out of Miami in March (Virgin Voyages) and will be arrive back in Miami on a Friday. The ship is scheduled to arrive to back in Miami at 6:30 am and we have a disembarkation time of 10:45 to 11:00 am (could move earlier if needed). Our plane doesn't depart until 7:30 pm.

We have never visited the Everglades and would be interested in doing an airboat tour if possible. Is anyone familiar with a company that does these tours with a pick up at the cruise port? Another option is to just taxi/uber to one of the companies we are interested in, but we will have luggage. Probably just two carry on suitcases, but may have a small checked back too. Before I start reaching out to our top companies, does anyone know of any of the tour companies that have lockers or some type of luggage storage?

I'm hoping other's have done something similar and have some insight on making this work. thanks

  5. We are booked for March and I have completed all the check in stuff and signed the Voyage Well form (vaccination status). However, when I go to the section to "give your friend a hand" to do the pre-voyage checklist for my spouse I can complete everything except the payment method. I select for her to use the credit card I entered it says I need to confirm her on my account. I've looked everywhere on he app and the website (useless) and can't figure out how confirm her.

Also, is there a way to complete the Voyage Well form (vaccination status) for her through my app? Or is the only way to complete this for her to download the app and create account? I did see the QR code that I'm assuming she could use to link to our trip.

I really wish they made the website usable for these things instead of doing everything in the app.

  6. The earliest

2 pm is the earliest appointment for check in, and the ship sails at 7:00 pm... The reason for this, is their relaxed debarkation process, where you have more time to have a nice breakfast prior to leaving the ship...

This appears to be changing. We sail out on March 27th and yesterday selected our arrival time slot as 12:00. The earliest it would let us select was 11:45 am.

None of the hotels offer secured/fenced parking. The 4points has a garage and will be most secure.

But I 've not heard of anyone getting a car damaged or stolen from hotel sites in the area.

Most of the hotels here offer parking during the cruise. Just pick one you like. Country Inn is a great choice and one of the most popular cruise/park hotels. The lot is huge. See this - Country Inn for Cruisers

The goportcanaveral site is not fenced either but it is cheap. You can park there and Uber after your cruise and still save $$$$

Read here: Cruise Parking at or near Port Canaveral

How do you find out if the hotels to a sleep and cruise if it's not listed on their website? I've looked at many sites and don't see a mention of parking during the cruise which will cost more then a room. Not sure how to compare prices in my spreadsheet if they aren't listed on their sites.

  8. We cruise out of Port Canaveral on DCL in October and this will be our first time out of this port and our fist time driving to a cruise port. We are spending Sunday night in Port Canaveral and our cruise leaves on Monday. Looking to probably do Kennedy Space Center on Sunday if it matters. I have only found 4 hotels that seem to offer sleep & cruise packages which are the Country Inn & Suits near the port, the Radisson near the port, the Best Western in Cocoa Beach and the Holiday Inn Express in Cocoa Beach. Are these the only 4? If I book with Country Inn & Suites and pre-pay the room is $164 for the night.

I did find some sleep & cruise packages through goportcanaveral.com which has you parking in their lot off site of the hotel, but their site says they only have one shuttle that leaves the port upon returning and they "advise self-disembarking" so you don't miss it. So we aren't looking at this option.

I have found some fenced & Secured lots and a couple would allow us to park for $53 compared to the $85 parking directly at the port would cost. Combining one of these lots with some hotels in Titusville, Cocoa or Merritt Island I can do a hotel and 3rd party parking for $135 to $153. But your awfully close to just staying right in Port Canaveral.

I'm leaning towards the cruise and sleep package with Country Inn & Suites as it's close, includes breakfast and I'm only booking one thing. I'm assuming this is not a fenced in secured parking lot, but can anyone confirm? How do most people handle a hotel and parking for a cruise out of PC? Anything I'm missing or should be looking at? Are the hotel Sleep & Cruise packages the preferred way to handle this situation? Thanks in advance for the replies.

If you are picking a guarantee category or a GS or higher they are only offered as non refundable

Ok,. I think that's what it was. They we're picking our room as it was the cheapest.

Is this for all sailings including out of the US? Or is this due to it being out of Asia?

We'll just have to wait longer to book once all of our ducks are in a row.

  10. My wife and I sat down to book a cruise in April 2020 out of Singapore. It fits with my son's spring break. However this far out we still need to see if my parents can watch my son and of course we can't start even looking at airfare. I got all the way through the entering of the info for the passengers and on the page to "Select Your Preferences" the only option is for dining and pre-paid gratuities. There is nothing for a refundable deposit. Is this new for RCCL?

I've only sailed them once last summer for AK and when I booked that cruise I had the option for a refundable or non-refundable deposit with the non-refundable deposit giving you an extra $50 or $100 on board credit (I think it was $50). I'm booked on a Disney Cruise this October and that deposit is refundable as I'd assume every cruise line does.

Is this something new where RCCL doesn't offer refundable deposits anymore? Or is it due to it embarking outside of the USA? Or is it a glitch and I should call RCCL? We think there should be no issues with taking the cruise, but this far out and not having care for our son lined up, we can't guarantee that. Any help or insight in how RCCL works is appreciated. Thanks

  11. I've never used Airbnb in Singapore and will be following as we are looking at a cruise next year out of Singapore. However, we love Airbnb and have used them many times around the world (San Diego, Stockholm, Helsinki & Hawaii) with one book for Orlando this October.

My first question is if they are legal in Singapore as some cities have banned short term rentals. I'd Google that first as you don't want something cancelled and/or an eviction by authorities as part of your vacation. If it's legal I wouldn't have any reservations.

You can message the host and ask them what is the nearest metro station and how many blocks it is etc. I always want any reviews for that property and host. Also the system will leave a review on the host if they cancelled a reservation if they do so. Look to see if they cancel often. Also good pictures are always a must for me. If it look so like they took the pics on a wind up disposable camera then I'm out.

  12. As mentioned above the card can go negative one time up to a certain amount. You can also use the stored value at multiple stores. When I was there in October (not a cruise) the night before heading to the airport I figured out my balance and what I needed for the last trip. I then visited a 7-11 for snacks and made sure I left enough as to not go negative beyond the amount allotted. The card currently has a negative balance and I kept it. I always hold on to the MTR cards as they make a nice cheap souvenir and I now have a few from multiple continents.

Sorry, but you cannot pull anything up on your app until your cruise starts. All you can do on the app is set a countdown clock. I'm looking at the app on my phone as I type this.

I'm sure she meant after the cruise started, and that's how I read it, given she talks about it disappearing after the cruise ended.

Also, be aware that cancellation/interruption insurance may not be all you need.

We buy travel insurance purely for the medical/evacuation coverage.  Many health plans here in the US do not cover "out of country" medical care.  And, once you board the ship, you are "out of country"

Correct, but above the question was regarding Disney offering trip insurance which as far as I know is only cancellation (maybe interruption too) and never includes medical. This is why the credit card coverage is a good route, but also read the fine print to understand what is covered. Medical and evacuation insurance is cheap if not combined with cancellation insurance. Well at least for us in our mid 30's with no medical conditions.

  15. Regarding trip insurance try looking into credit cards that offer it as a benefit. We have the Chase Sapphire which has a $95 annual fee, but it includes trip cancellation/interruption insurance along with primary rental car insurance. I hate annual fees but with trips once or twice a year the included insurance is a great deal. Check your cards and look at one with it included.

  16. Well, you the best of both with a one way cruise. Multiple sea days to lounge around and then spending time on Hawaii before flying back home.
What I was referring to is that instead of taking two or three days to cross the Pacific from the West coast you could fly it in about 9 hours and have an extra couple days in paradise. So the best of "both worlds" still only works if you'd prefer sea days over Hawaiian beaches. Personally, I'd take Hawaiian beaches and snorkeling with fish and turtles over a sea day, bit that might just be me.
