Just received 7 separate Email confirmations from the Steakhouse Manager on the Liberty Nisa Novita. Also received a confirmation Email from Ms. Novita for the Chefs Table. I'll have to cancel one of the Steakhouse reservations when I find out the date of the Chefs Table. In the Emails it states that my Sail & Sign account will be charged once on the ship. This was also in the Email....

P.S. We are having a promotion in the Steakhouse on Embarkation and the first Cruise Elegant nights of the cruise! Guests booking a reservation on either night will receive a complimentary bottle of house wine or 50% off any bottle from our wine list!

    Nice!

Everyplace that I've tried to book the steakhouse (Liberty) it's wanting me to pay. Just for the hell of it I tried the Hub again. This time it let me make 7 reservations (doing a back to back) without paying upfront. Lets see if I get the Email from the Steakhouse Manager. I let ya'll know.

I haven't gotten a confirmation yet. Did it late Friday night (Sunrise). Keep us posted!

I just checked since people, myself included, did not receive an email confirming my steakhouse reservation. It shows up under your booking & order details tab under your planner on the website.

I was thinking that's where it should be since I saw my spa booking there but figured since so many people complained that it wasn't. Maybe the majority are just missing it. The website can be a bit confusing. I reserved the steakhouse the old way so it's not there. But I bet that's the benefit of booking it the new way.

No, I'm at home. I logged into the Hub app because my trip is next month. Under my countdown it has the packages and deals. I clicked onto specialty dining reservations.  It did redirect me to the Carnival website but, that is where I clicked on Specialty dining again and it had the old way to request a reservation. It did not make me add it to my cart or prepay.

How long after did you get the confirmation?

Are you aboard a ship, as the Hub app does not work until you board

It works in that it brings you to the Carnival website which I'm noticing always seems different from when you go on the website directly. Especially in this case of the dining reservations. I think what's really happening is the app is bringing us to the "old way" of doing dining reservations. Of course when on the ship you get the full capacity of the app. Looks cool. They didn't have it the last time I cruised!

Since you pulled up a thread that is over a year old.....

The new system people are complaining about because it requires prepaying will confirm a time immediately (supposedly).

Yes I know it was a year old and before the new system. It still applies, lol. Apparently you still can't see dining reservations online in your account even with the new system. Some ppl aren't even getting email confirmations. The money comes right out though 😁

It took me about a week and a half, but they were full for the day I requested, so I was given the option to either be wait-listed or pick another day. I just chose another day and was emailed a confirmation within 12 hours.

Of course after a week and a half the options decrease 😩. Wish they had an automated system like how Opentable works. At least they got back to you quickly after that!

Woah Nellie! That's a new revelation! Never heard that one before! Maybe you stumbled onto something. Thanks so much meltissa! 👍

Did you get an email confirmation? Carnival needs to work on their website, we should also be able to see dining reservations. Pending and confirmed if done online. Even like Opentable with real time avails. When we get drink packages and wifi, etc. where does that show up?

Actually I just made a steakhouse reservation today for my cruise and I did not have to pay. I did receive a confirmation e-mail from the steakhouse manager. I booked it through the Hub app under speciality dining. It did take me to the Carnival website but it did not ask for payment.

You're right! The other way adds it as an item in your cart like anything else, drink packages, wifi, etc. I did it right when you posted this but my phone died as I was responding then I fell asleep 🤣 It was at 10:55pm EST though, so no confirmation yet.

When I booked ours for  panorama in March I had to prepay.  The interesting thing is I did not get an email.  I see the date in my bookings and it has been charged but it does not give me a confirmation on the time I had picked.  Does anybody else have this problem or should I call carnival.

I've seen people say they didn't get an email. Based on Carnival's website they say you can change or cancel reservations online, so not seeing the time doesn't sound like it's right to me. Now to Carnival may be another story!

It was real food, much of it cooked to order. Things like lasagne would have been pre-frozen, but the steaks were cooked to order and probably some of the other items. I once had lunch from the kids' menu because there was grilled cheese, and it was definitely right off the griddle. Breakfast was cooked to order. Fresh eggs, omelets cooked to order. Now the hot breakfast is a pre-frozen egg mc-muffin kind of thing out of the microwave.

West of the Mississippi, where the route is two nights, the train still has real food. Here's one of the menus.

Not impressed. I know that's how the food is in the Cafe car but for some reason when I read about the sleeping car I thought it was a different experience. Since this post though I'm more inclined not to book the Silver Meteor because I don't like the idea of the toilet being smack in the middle of the room with no privacy in their roomettes. So weird.

I've heard mixed things on these. Doesn't appear to be quite the same as the steakhouse. I think I'm actually going to try this on the Sunrise in about a month.

Hmmm. I guess the ambiance of the steakhouse adds to it. This would have been good even if our 12 yr old son wanted a steak, still would be $60. Especially since I'm now realizing that "adult" for them means 12 and up so when I initially calculated $100 for all 4 of us it would really be $126. I mean still good for a steakhouse but I sometimes in the back of my mind feel like, heck, do the stuff that's included! Let us know how it is! What's your cruise date?

  13. 46 minutes ago, Florings said:

It's a fairly recent change - I think due to no-shows.   We have Breeze and Legend future steakhouse reservations, made the old way and I will just take my confirmation emails when I board.

Still, I wouldn't mind paying for it in advance either.  We always book the first night in steakhouse as a "kick-off" to our vacation.

As in embarkation day? I figured everyone would be tired but maybe we should do that. I was thinking the first sea day but apparently that's elegant night on a 5-day cruise.

Just saw this on their website but I've read that people aren't even seeing their reservations online to do this:

If you find the need to cancel or change your reservation, we appreciate you making the change online prior to your cruise. For the Chef's Table and Bonsai Teppanyaki, there is a $25 USD fee for cancellations made within 24 hours of your reservation.

You can. But for me and my DW, if we are going to pay an upcharge, we want to go somewhere "special" . But that's just us.

    have a great cruise

Totally get that and I thought of it but I'm guessing that night will be elegant night in the MDR so that will be special enough! Hehe. If it were just my husband I that would be one thing. Worse case scenario I book it on the ship, I won't stress reserving in advance. Thanks!

  15. I just read that you can get a few steakhouse selections for $20 in the MDR on all ships that have a steakhouse. Anyone do this on the Sunrise? I guess I'm paranoid of Carnival saying something is offered on all ships then it isn't (saw someone mention they didn't have the 80's party on their sailing). I was going to book the Steakhouse, family of 4, 2 adults, 2 kids, but this may be a more economical option for us since it would probably just be my husband and I eating steak. Then I wouldn't want to book the steakhouse on embarkation day nor the days we go on excursions (aka tired kids) so that leaves just Tuesday (sea day) which someone said may be elegant night. I guess I didn't realize they don't do reservations for the evening before the cruise gets back...that would have been perfect.

OP, you didn't say where you're traveling from or if it's long enough to use a sleeper, but if you have taken Amtrak to Florida in the past, be prepared for a big change in meal service! The Star has no dining car at all, just cafe food. The Meteor has a dining car, but it recently got changed to microwave "bowl" meals. Not at all like it used to be. I'm so disgusted with the change that I'm flying to Florida for my cruise this winter.

OK, rant over. If you haven't taken Amtrak to Florida in the past, be aware that it sometimes runs quite late. I have always used Uber to get to a hotel. Even the time we got there at 10:30, my Uber arrived quickly.

There are no hotels near the station. Your best bet is to choose something closer to the port. FL departures board has lots of recommendations for hotels, and there was a thread about Fort Lauderdale hotels here recently.

So glad I saw your post! I was like "No it's not microwaveable meals from what I saw!" then I went back to read their website and saw under Meteor, "A menu with hot, ready-to-serve choices for breakfast, lunch and dinner"

WTH! Granted people get ready-to-serve meals now online and even in supermarkets so it's become more popular. So how were they prepared before?

I'm annoyed because it says they will email you confirmations and they don't.  Same with fun shops, i purchased birday decor and no email or confirmation and not showing on account.  i booked 4 for steakhouse and no confirmation.

That's annoying! Did you check your spam folder?

  18. 1 hour ago, nissach said:

Yes, of course that will work,  just grumbling.   First world problems, right?  Really nothing to complain about.

Ha! I know I do the same thing and quite frankly I'm annoyed we have to prepay for the steakhouse. What is the cancellation policy? I have to look that up now! BTW, I'm from Montreal originally but I live in NYC so I was actually wondering if you had those instant easy transfer services there!

    Update...

yes, we went to royal palms had a great day!  The cost of our

cabana was $150 holds 6 people. Yes, there was a pool with

a swim up bar.  There was 4 ships that day the pool was empty

and the beach wasn’t that crowded.

Booked a Royal Beach Cabana back in October for our April cruise. Which cabana did you do?

You just slide your card through the reader and select 1 turn or 3 turns (which on most games is really 4 but for price of 3). Every ship I've been on has a daily Power Hour where games are half priced.

I want to say most games are $1 or more per turn, so power hour is definitely the way to go.

I know I mentioned earlier the ability to see sign in/out of camp ocean from the App, you can also use it to view the youth schedules and activity locations. I don't know if that was new or we just never noticed it, but it was great compared to carrying around the paper program which we constantly forgot in the room.

Man you've been so helpful! I really appreciate it.

The Messaging App in Carnival Hub.  I was just saying that I like to also get an internet plan for just one of us, so we can still connect to the outside world. You can take turns with it, just only one device can connect to the internet at a time, so it isn't useful for onboard communication unless you buy it for everybody and it is too expensive to that, IMO.

I mean a spending limit on his sign and sail card (get a lanyard that connects directly to the hole punched in the card).  It works like an allowance really and you can always add to it at Customer Service later. I usually do $25 out of fear he'll spend it all in the arcade 1st day, which happened the 1st time we cruised with him.

Your suggestion is what I'll be doing. Thanks so much!! Things have changed from the last time I cruised 9 yrs ago! I unplugged and hoped my husband and son were okay while I cruised with my Mom, lol!

I didn't realize he could have his own money on his card, thought it would have to be linked to mine since he's a minor. That's a great idea, an allowance. I already had the 2-pack of lanyards in my Carnival account for the kids so that's perfect. I know what that's like! Give this kid $20 and he blows $15 on lunch in one day then looking for more money the next day! I need to take a tally of what's around the ship that costs money and budget that way for him. Forgot about that darned arcade. How does that work, you buy credits? I can do a search but if you want to answer, lol.

  22. Thanks for this post! I'm trying to figure this out myself with a 12 yr old son. Since he can check in and out of the Circle C club on his own we would want to know where he is. He's an absolute YT addict and I think this would be prime time for him to unplug and we just do the hub chat. I also think one premium plan for the 3 of us is perfect.

I do not have a problem with paying up front, but I was trying to book for us and another couple so we could sit together and I do not want to pay for all 4.  I am just concerned if we book separate we may not be able to sit at a table for 4, if we originally book as 2 separate couples.

Can the other couple send you an e-transfer and you just book all 4? Paypal...we have Venmo and Cashapp here in the US too, not sure if you have that in Canada.
