Ooooo.. I wouldn't do that.  After calling PCL, if no satisfaction, I would at least book 2 couples at a 4-top and the other can book themselves at a 2-top.  And then visit CG on Day 1 and explain the situation,  They can likely combine the tables and free up the 2-top.  At worst, you could be seated next to each other.  I am sure it can work out for the OP, but I wouldn't look for them to book up three tables.

We did this very thing (4-top and 2-top) at Crown Grill for a party of six and then met with the CG Host on the first day to combine the reservations. We had a nice round 6-top.

Since your cabin is not “loaded” on your medallion, that would not be an impediment to shipping it or moving you to the green lane. But I have no idea why they are doing this, but that’s not the reason.  You’ve already PIF?

Yes, paid in full at time of booking.

All boxes "checked". Just did not get an option for shipping.

  3. Does booking a Guarantee (cabin to be assigned later; no Plus or Premium package) automatically put you in the Blue Lane?

When doing our check-in on the app and ordering the Medallion, it did not give us an option to even pay the $10 to ship. It just said to pick up the medallion at the port.

I would have thought the cabin information could be automatically loaded on the medallion later, even if it had been shipped to us beforehand.

Not a big deal, just wondered why we were not given the option to ship. We are in the US and it was 75 days out when I ordered.

    Thank you for any insight.

  4. Question about the $10 shipping fee for the medallion.

I just booked a cruise, while on a cruise, for next month. It includes the Plus Package and states that the medallion shipping is free.

But when I went on the app to complete ordering our medallions, it added the $10 shipping. I paused the order and called the Medallion Fix It People, and she claimed there was nothing she could do to remove the shipping and I should complete the order and go to Guest Services once onboard to get the $10 credit on my folio.

Does this sound right? And has this worked for anyone (getting the $10 credit once onboard)?

    Thanks.

I’m curious.  Did you book the dinner using the app?  How did you receive this coupon?  Email? Are you using a TA that arranged it?
    thanks

    All good questions.

Yes, the dining was booked in the app awhile ago. About four weeks before  our upcoming sailing, I received an email from Princess with my "digital coupons." There are 19 discount coupons covering the shops, casino, spa, photo gallery, etc. The only one that will interest us is the free bottle of wine with an embarkation day specialty dinner, which we had already booked.

We are booked with a TA, and the email made reference to "more than $900 in savings from Princess and your travel advisor."

  6. For our upcoming Royal cruise we have booked embarkation day specialty dining and have received the coupon for a free bottle of "wine of the day."

What exactly does that mean? Will we have a choice of at least red or white?

What wine have you received with your embarkation day specialty dining?

  7. Darn!

I thought I finally found someone else that had the same experience as me.

I booked specialty dining in the app for both us and travel companions (party of 4) and it did NOT charge me at all. This was two months ago and the charge never showed on my credit card. It is for Crown Grill and was at $29 at that time.

None of us have any dining credits (we booked under the most basic fare).

I constantly check my DMW reservations to make sure the SD is still there, and it is. The cruise is in just a couple of weeks on Royal so I am prepared to have them ask me for payment when we show up for our reservation. But I have never heard of this scenario happening to anyone else.

I am not sure how you managed to use true OBC to book and pay for SD.  That is not an option in MC App (DMW), nor is it allowed by policy.

That said, you DO have two separate reservations and are occupying two tables.  You need to visit the SD location soon after boarding and speak to the host to fix it (or cancel one now and still see the host).  In my experience over the past month on two ships, there is a host at each SD venue during the afternoon of boarding.  OR, you can call the DINE line from cabin or any public phone on board and discuss the change with the person who answers.

When I reserved SD in DMW app, it did say something like "$116 credit" after the $116 charge and a net of $0 due. However, I know you are right about OBC should not be able to be used when booking in the app. Now I am not sure that the reservations are actually paid for. No charges have hit my credit card and it's been several weeks since the reservation was made. The reservation is still showing in the app correctly.

All my OBC is still showing in my account (I did a mock booking of some excursions and it let me apply the entire amount of my OBC, including the amount I had thought had gone to pay for the SD).

    I am definitely confused.

As for joining our reservations, I will be visiting the SD host first thing on boarding day.

    Thank you for your insight.

There have been several larger tables in every specialty dining room I haven't been in on a princess ship, so I would notice overstress on this. That being said, I do like having everything all in order beforehand, so I would probably stress some. If you can't get it fixed before stop by or call once you are on-board & they will sort it for you.

    Thank you!

Are you actually using OBC or specialty dining credits?  I booked Sabatini's on DMW with complimentary dining credits for my cabin plus our linked traveling companion, and it used each of our credits, no charge.

If that doesn't work (or you don't want to risk the reservation getting deleted) they should be able to seat you together.  You can stop by when you board and let them know.

I booked with actual OBC, not dining credit, for us and one of the linked couples. It took $116 out of my OBC. Then another couple has since joined the cruise and booked on their own. I'm not sure if they used OBC or $.

I can wait until we board, though we booked this for Night 1 so have to get it straightened out right away. I thought most of the tables/booths would easily seat 2 or 4, but I was just concerned that it might be more difficult to get a 6-top as they may be more limited. I'm pretty sure I am over-thinking this!

    Thank you for your input.

  11. What is the best way to combine specialty dining reservations with another couple listed as a Traveling Companion? We each made our own reservations in DMW for the same reservation time (so that we each paid for our own using OBC), but now it just looks like we have two separate reservations. Mine is for 4 people and the other reservation is for 2, but we need a 6-top.

Can this be resolved pre-cruise? My TA gave me the number 1-800-774-6237 to call to accomplish this, but I called the number four days ago and pressed the option for a callback, and I never received a call.

    Any other ideas?

  12. We are also onboard now and enjoying our time here.

Any idea if there are any port taxes to be refunded to us for missing Icy Strait? I asked at Guest Services and she was unsure. She went as far to say if there was, it would come in the form of a Future Cruise Credit. That doesn't seem correct to me. I would think that it should be in the form of refundable OBC or a check mailed after the cruise.

I would love to know what Princess's policy is when it comes to a cancelled port.

Your embark on September 7 (Wednesday).  You will be onboard by 2 PM at the latest.  What time did you pick on the Medallion App?

NOW...here is where you will run into problems (with both CVS and Walgreens).

    1.  Are you taking the Rapid Antigen test (2 days/results within the hour.  It is an in house test.  You said they are closed on Monday, which leaves you early Tuesday.   When are you flying out?

    2.  You can take the PCR test anytime after 12-1 PM on September 4 (Sunday).  The problem you will run into with this is when will your results be picked up and overnighted to wherever their lab is?  I was told that they do not do pickups on the weekend.  You need to call and confirm.  It will then take 24 hours once it reaches the lab for the results to be processed.

    3.  I would look for a back up.  A.  Binax Now eMed Home kit.  B.  Commercial Covid Testing site.  C.  Others have mentioned using other eMed organizes that uses your own home kits.  I have no experience with that.

You have given me a lot to think about. I live close to the port so no flying.

But I hadn't thought about the PCR test possibly not being picked up on Sunday evening for processing, and then possibly not picked up on Monday, the holiday.

I will definitely have to look into the home testing option.

Thank you for your well-thought out suggestions.

  14. We are sailing Ruby roundtrip out of San Francisco on Sept. 7 to Alaska, so touching Canada. The chart on the Princess site says 72 hours for PCR test.

I called Princess to verify "72 hours from what time? My boarding time or sailaway time (4pm)." The reply, several times, was that it is three days and I can test anytime on Sept. 4.

Now I am not sure she is correct, and my problem is that CVS only has testing appointments up to 3:50pm, technically missing the 72 hour mark. CVS isn't offering any testing on Sept. 5, Labor Day, or I would just test the next day.

What is your experience bringing a PCR result to a cruise that stops in Canada? What time did you test?

  15. Question about changing a SD reservation in app, made with the dining credit:

I made the original reservation with no problem on future Ruby cruise, and it accepted my dining credit. If I want to change the reservation to a different night through the app, and I cancel the current reservation, does the app immediately recognize the refunded credit? I am hesitant to cancel until I know for sure how long it takes to be recognized as a credit.

My explanation doesn't work in the situation where you ought to have noticed the default res.  You will have to think back for yourself on that one.

Were you perhaps booked before June 7, 2021?  If so, and you had an Early TD dining booked in your reservation, Princess, by default, set you up at a 2-top for 5:00pm dining in the likely one DR they setup in DMW at launch.

I realize that Michelangelo DR is on Deck 5 and typically they set up the Deck 6 Mid-Ship DR in DMW (Da Vinci in your case) as it has the CC Dining section.

Da Vinci is not going to be out of use.  I would go ahead and cancel the other.  I may be wrong as it is just a guess, not knowing your situation.  It should NOT be the case that you set up both of these as DMW doesn't keep duplicates these days.  However, I can say that when those default reservations were setup in data conversion from POLAR to MC App, it was possible to have double reservations.  I booked us may back when last June and after I did, I noticed the Princess default entries when I reviewed the setup.

Your explanation makes sense. This is probably what happened. Yes, we were booked long ago as Late Traditional Dining. Therefore, Princess dropped 7pm dining in MDW for us. I made our bookings at least two months ago before any of their reservations showed up. I think I feel comfortable deleting the duplicates.

(They even dropped an MDR reservation in on a day I had a Speciality Dining already booked.)

    Thanks for the explanation.

  17. Question about being "double booked."

I was able to make my DMW reservations several months ahead on Ruby for a late dining time, private table for two, in DaVinci. Same time every night. No problem.

While checking today (we are still before final payment), "someone" has me also booked every night at an earlier time in Michelangelo, also private table for two.

I am hesitant to just go in and cancel all the Michelangelo reservations without really knowing why it happened. Maybe DaVinci is not going to be used and it will eventually be canceled by Princess? I would rather have one reservation than neither.

Any ideas before I try making a phone call?

  18. I did it once with Capitals for myself and once for DH in lower case, both in Safari.

With both of them we got the same message:

"You have completed all of the sentences! If you answered all questions correctly and will receive 10 Power Up Points."

The sentence absolutely makes no sense as it is written. Is this the statement you are getting when it is done correctly?

The last time we purchased and used the Abbott proctored home test, the test kits had a very short expiration date but I know that the dates were extended under some "emergency use" band-aid.

If anyone has recently purchased these tests, will you please let me know what expiration date was on your kit and when you purchased them?

Thanks in advance for your kind help.

I ordered our Optum tests on Tuesday this week (3/1) and received them today (3/4). The expiration date is 1/1/23.

  20. My re-fare refund took just over two months to post to my credit card.

At one month, I called and was told, "we see it there, give it another 30 days."

Then after that 30 days, I was told, "we see it there, but it hasn't been 'released' yet. Let me do that."

Two days later it posted to my credit card.

Wondering your Sail Date.  I was thinking they might be adding new inventory, but I still see only 1 DR for Regal in October.

ETA:  You must be adding friends from another cabin (as am I) to make party of 4.  I have had a lot of SPLIT issues when attempting to get PRIVATE.  IDK why they thought a dining party would accept being split up.

You are exactly right. We are adding our traveling companions from another cabin. I agree about the option to split the group--who would want that if you were trying to make a reservation for 4??

We are on Discovery March 27th. When reservations first opened up a few months ago, the aft MDR wasn't even an option.

  22. All my dining reservations returned for private 4-top at the correct times, but they changed my dining room from midship deck 6 to aft deck 6 (Discovery). When I try to change it back, private table is not available for the midship dining room. Options are "share with others" or "your party will be split."

I have no real reason to prefer the midship dining room except it seemed more convenient for getting to other venues.
