  1. At least you will be able to see all of Astoria. Not a chance you could see all of SF. Astoria also has a nice long bridge over the Columbia.

Just got my email from Norwegian that our Sept. 29,2014 Pacific Coast cruise will NOT include a stop in San Francisco. Instead we will be stopping in(hold your breath) Astoria, Oregon. I had a suite on the front of the boat just to be able to see the Goldengate Bridge and pffft, gone up in smoke. NCL says it is a berthing issue. Seems a company that size would know well in advance of this issue. I'll be suggesting to folks they try another cruise line that has a clue.
  2. You would think the risk of death caused by a fire at sea by a careless cabin smoker would be enough of a deterrent to encourage smokers to stick to the rules and stay on the balcony for their smoke! But apparently not so. IMO the $250 fine is meant as a deterrent only, not as a mere cleaning fee to remove a smell.

The fine is totally justified IMO.

Please, how many cabin fires have been caused by careless smokers? The new smoking policy is only a means of pacifying all of the non smokers. I have never been shown to a cabin that smelled of the previous occupants smoke. That said I hate cigarette smoke so have always asked DW to smoke outside.

  3. Aft suites are great and family suites usually have more room. For 2 the aft suite is probably the way to go. We have done aft suites twice and had more than enough room. The extras that come with the suite are way worth it. Anyone who says they aren't hasn't stayed in one.
