Aw, the view of the wake is so relaxing 👣🧘🏼‍♀️

Hope the save those M class wood tables when the ship is retrofitted. They are the best!

  2. Thanks for the info. I’ll definately go back and read it. I never did this type of cruise but it looks like so much fun. In 97, we sailed Royal Majesty,  and once on board, found out the Drifters were on it. Well their shows were fabulous and I bought the tape (back then it was still a tape).  Although the musicians were older, they were still so entertaining and of. course we know all the words. I’m so excited for you. So where do you hear about all these special cruises ?

We booked NCL getaway Feb 24 to March 3 so would not be able to join this cruise anyway. But maybe next year. We are enjoying all the reviews and  also researching the Apex. Best to you both. 😍😍😍😍

In the last week since getting home, we have had snowstorms, below zero weather almost every day and tonight an ice storm for my drive home from work. The Edge cruise feels like a distant memory. Really looking forward to Spring or the Flower Power Cruise in March (on the Infinity), whichever comes first. 🙂

Back to the freezing cold and the grind. What a shock. 😩

You are a wealth of information. I never heard of the Flower Power Cruise and looked it up.  Oh my goodness. So many amazing performers. Love Melanie and Tommy James.  All the rooms are booked I see. Will you be doing a live cruise recap?

Your comparison review of the RCI CL is appealing, with the balcony loungers. Can  you order a drink to be delivered to the  RCI  CL cabin or order a bottle of scotch for the cabin?  My DH likes to have a scotch (single malt) on his balcony. On Celebrity and NCL, we can get a bottle of scotch. Sad to say but this is an important cruise selection decision for us. Loungers and scotch.  😂😂

Typically, the "sewer" smells you experience on ships comes from deck drain U-traps (just like the traps in the drain lines under your sink at home) that dries out due to the low humidity in the AC air.  This can happen in your cabin bathroom as well, where the floor drain (not the one in the shower, there will be either one under the toilet or a gutter type at the door) that does not regularly see water down it to replenish the trap, dries out.  A glass of water down this every couple of days takes care of it.  My guess is that as the Edge is a new vessel, the crew have not located all the deck drains in the back of bar service areas, or in technical lockers around the ship, and have not learned they need to refill these traps regularly.  Typically, within a few seconds of filling the trap, the odor goes away.

Concur!  Love reading your posts. 👍

VT cruising - Thanks for your efforts to write to X, and including thoughts on the IV cabin as well.

At the very least, the veranda chairs can have a recline on them, and a foot rest that can be stored under the chair.

Go back to  the queen size bed in the IV, and you gain 18 inches (I think Queen is 60 and King is 78 if my memory is correct). Then, just makes the veranda 18 inches more deep, problem solved!  If you want the King size bed, then get a suite.  Personally, had no issue with the bed size on the M or S class.

    These are two great solutions!

You can see it in the link below. When you enter the Retreat Lounge there is a door to the far left of the room. This is the access to the bar and the stairway to the Retreat pool. It is actually located on the Starboard side of the ship. You can see it on the Celebrity website deck plans for the Edge. Sorry I can’t get the deck plan to post.

Oh yes, we know about at the retreat bar at the retreat pool deck deck 16.  Sorry, I misunderstood, your post, I thought you meant a bar on deck 15 near the retreat lounge.

Also the Porch is well protected on the Silhouette and Reflection.  Seems like a very solvable problem and a surprising oversight.

Agree on the oversight. It’s not like they didn’t know. We loved the Porch on Silhouette and had many panini lunches there. We were sad when they changed the Porch menu the the Reflection, but it was very good.

Keep an eye out for updates on the Rooftop Grill.  The current wind issues need to be addressed.  If they put a wind barrier up it will make for a pleasant evening out.  The food is very good.  A couple of nights ago I ended up wearing my husband’s beer after a big gust of wind, and later a couple a few tables down saw our salads coming their way.

Thats terrible. Hope they fix it. The lawn club grill on S class ships had nice wind screens so you could dine without the wind issues. Just had to face the wind when walking to the restaurant.

We never walk off, way to much “stuff” when we arrive by car.  Having a relaxing breakfast Luminae/Blu is a good way to end a cruise.

Staying on board today was a great decision.  We had a drink on the MC then lunch outside Eden Cafe.  MC is a wonderful outdoor bar weather permitting and EC is great.

Now we are enjoying some R&R on the Edge ramp.

I smile when I see the people walk off with 1 suitcase each. We will never be that couple.  Love your photos of the MC and swinging chairs. Looks so luxurious and tropical.

The officer's party was not on Chic night. That is tonight.

It is lovely in Grand Cayman today - sunny and no wind. I plan to enjoy the RTG and MC while it is calm.

This is my view from the balcony:

Empress of the Seas - we have so many good memories of that ship!! Our first Royal cruise - we sailed her when she was shiny and new. 🙂

Don’t forget to get a picture of Henry enjoying that wonderful lounger, for posterity 😎
