  1. SHIP: SOLSTICE

    CABIN #: 8107

    DECK #: 8

    CLASS: 2B

    AREA: aft, forward

BED NEAR: small bedroom near bathroom, bedroom with double bed on the far side of the cabin

    QUIET?: YES

    BALCONY VIEW: port

BALCONY SIZE: About 1.5 times larger than normal

    WIND A PROBLEM?: No

    SOOT A PROBLEM?: No

PROBLEMS/COMMENTS: The cabin was massive and both bedrooms had enough room, the smaller cabin with the bunk beds would be a bit squishy with 2 teenagers, but with little kids it's fine, full wardrobe to use. The living area in the cabin was great, so much unutilized space though, 1 couch with a small table, no big dinning table, a bench on the left wall near the balcony, big window in the main cabin as well as the bedroom with the double bed.

As it is right at the front of the ship you do feel the ship move a fair bit, the coat hangers clanged in the wardrobe. Quite a walk from the elevator and stairs but no noise from people or activities going on, plus it means you are getting your exercise!

Gym is 4 floors up, so easy to get there and the solarium and pool, dinning room and buffet are at the far end of the ship to the cabin, but again if you walk more you can eat/drink more :)

Great family cabin, if there was 5 of you in there using the 1 bathroom would be an issue, but there is plenty of room for everything else in there.

  2. You're welcome! We have 8107 on Solstice booked in 2019. Can you do me the reverse favor and either take photos or tell me whether there's a dining room table in there? I suspect it's not there, but you never know! My email is mahdnc at yahoo dot com

By the way, here is the dining room table that our stateroom attendant brought in:

And the small dresser with drawers:

Absolutely! I plan on taking lots of photos and sharing them as I've struggled to find much information on the cabin.

  3. So grateful for the photo's of the cabin, my parents and I are in cabin 8107 and I've struggled to find pictures of it. We booked it for the 2 bedrooms, I love my parents but 19 nights is a long time for 3 of us to be crammed into 1 cabin, so to have the extra space and storage area is great.

Shame about it being quite sparse with furniture, I was looking forward to there being a dining table so we could have room service in there if we wanted and not eat off our laps!

  4. When I was in Europe I travelled for 2 weeks before my cruise and had planned on doing laundry the night before we got on the ship, but we got stuck flying out of Paris in an industrial strike so our casual flight to Rome followed by a leisurely train to the port and overnight stay never happened.. we ended up flying to Berlin, sleeping on the airport floor, flying to Rome the next day, landing and madly getting a private car to drive us, we boarded with an hour to spare.. so I did small lots of hand washing in the sink each day and I had a travel clothes line so I strung it up between the 2 balcony chairs each day and slowly managed to wash all my clothes, as I had 3 more weeks of travel after our 10 day cruise.

For my 19 night cruise this year I've bought a scrubba and we will handwash our underwear and shirts if required each night.. I plan on going to the gym so will wash my gym clothes each day.. I've purchased a cheap fold out clothes line which has pegs which you can clip onto pretty much anything, so we can hung our gear on the balcony and not have it fly off!

  5. Hi Holly.

It might be good news. I read somewhere that the times were adhered to however can't remember where. I just spoke with celebrity and they said your times were only a guide to try and stop everyone arriving at once, however you should be able to get on when you turn up.

    See you soon.

    Regards bob.:):):)

This makes me really happy as we are flying from Perth to Sydney in April next year for our cruise to Honolulu, we leave Perth at 5.15am so would have been up since probably 2.30am.. so hope to just get off the plane, taxi to circular quay and get straight on the boat so we can sit and have lunch and just relax!

  6. I'm not sure about Adelaide but Caversham is lovely, you get to pat the koalas, go into their enclosure and have photo's next to them etc. You get to touch lots of other animals which you don't get to do at some of the other animal parks. Caversham is also in Whiteman park which has other attractions to see.

I took a friend from Germany to Caversham when she was here and she said it was fantastic.

If you are hiring a car Caversham is easy to get to, it's not easy to hop on a train and get there though. Lots of tour companies go there.

  7. Thanks to all! We do plan on going to Fremantle and plan on taking Captain Cook cruise there and train back. Plan to stay at Pan Pacific. Some great rates right now!;p

Oh just saw this, the Pan Pacific used to be the Sheraton hotel in Perth, it was bought out several years ago now. One of the restaurants in the hotel does a lovely high tea on a Sun, you can get unlimited champagne with it.

You'll just have to hop on the bus to get into the cbd to catch a train, or enjoy the walk if you don't mind walking

  8. The Alex hotel is lovely, it's only a couple of years old and quite boutique, it's located in Northbridge though so you will have to cross over the train line which is fine. The Pan Pacific is a little bit further out of the CBD, it's right on the edge so depending on how mobile you are you might need to catch the bus into the cbd and then hop on the train out to places.

The buses within the CBD are free, you can catch a free bus up to Kings Park and around again, we have the CAT network which takes you to the outer edges of the CBD.

The best Western Terrace hotel is right on the main street in the CBD, and probably a 5 minute walk to one of the 2 train stations.

If it was me I'd either stay at the Alex hotel or terrace hotel as they are the newer ones.

Miss Mauds is up for sale at the moment, so I'm not sure the one that you mention above will be there.

If you want to stay at the Crown, stay at the Crown Towers, it's pretty much brand new and is beautiful and has amazing views but you will pay for it. The Crown hotel itself is okay, if you get a really good rate go for it, but it's not close to the CBD, you will have to train or bus it.

  9. From reading a post on facebook on the Celebrity fan page Australia from a lady who is currently on the Celebrity Solstice and has contracted the Noro virus all her medical visit are covered along with the medication, she is on strict quarantine and is being compensated for each day she is locked in her room, they have been providing her with a special menu to pick from, she has been given free movies etc to keep her entertained in her room, she is checked on regularly by Celebrity staff and while it's a miserable situation to be in, they have handled it very well.
