  1. I am booked on the Emerald for September 25, 2017 on a 6 night wine cruise along the California coast. I cannot find a review on any prior wine cruises. Are there any special events on the ship? Any information would be appreciated.

  2. Just got back from NCL POA cruise in a regular cabin. NCL provided a shower stool and raised toilet seat. Getting into the bathroom was a problem since I could not put any weight on my left foot. NCL sent up various items to help but none did. I ended up hopping up the 6'' ledge. Cabin was so small that I had to use the walker sideways which was also difficult. Even with all of this, I did enjoy the cruise.

  3. I get into the shower at home which is raised without too much trouble. I will have a wheel chair for outside the cabin and a walker for inside the cabin. I do not plan on doing excursions but have rented cars on each of the islands except for Kona where I plan to stay on the ship and enjoy its amenities. I have requested a stool for the shower and a raised toilet seat which should help.

  4. Thank you for your helpful hints on the POA. I do not intend to get off at Kona. This will help me limit my shopping. I am not too concerned about Aulani as Disney resorts are very handicapped accessible. Aulani does have the pool aid that Marriott has. We are Marriott Vacation Club owners so I am sure we will spend some time at the Marriott. When the grandchildren are with us we do Disney.

When you flew did the airline allow you to bring a walker or other mobility device to use for visits to the washroom?

    Thanks again for your help!

  5. Thank you all for all your help. I know my husband will not be able to do everything that the kids do but if he wants to just the 2 of us can go back. Since retirement we are fortunate to take 4 vacations a year - 2 for a week driving and the other 2 for at least 2 weeks flying so he is not concerned.

  6. After a great deal of consideration I do not intend to hike, tube or swing through trees. My sons family do all of these. My husband and I will tour the island, stopping at lockout points just to view from the lookout, have a nice lunch and do some shopping. This was not my original plans but they will do considering the circumstance. The surgeon will allow me to go in the water but I cannot put any weight on the foot. Aulani has the chair that puts people in and out of the pool.

  7. A year ago I booked the POA and 6 nights at Aulani to celebrate our 50th Anniversary. Last week I fell and fractured ankle and tore ligaments. Tomorrow I am scheduled for surgery. My son and family is going with us. My son keeps telling me to cancel but I am determined to do it since I am sure my grandchildren are really looking forward to it. I figure I will have a wheelchair and I have a walker. I know the tender port might be a problem but has anyone in a wheelchair had other problems.

  8. A year ago I reserved 2 balcony cabins on NCL and six nights at Aulani. I fell and did big time damage to my ankle. I am having surgery tomorrow and will not be able to put weight on that foot. I feel that a wheelchair would be my best bet as my sense of balance is not great. We are leaving June 27th for the 28th cruise and then 6 nights in Aulani. Has anyone toured Hawaii in a wheelchair and if you did what problems did you encounter. Thanks for your help!!!

  9. A year ago I booked our cabin and a cabin for my son, wife and 2 children, 12 and 14. Last week I fell and broke my ankle and did further damage requiring surgery. They all want to cancel, I do not. Has anyone taken this cruise using a wheelchair? I know I cannot get off in Kona but did you have any other difficulties?

  10. We will be at Aulani from July 5-11, 2014. We are a party of 10. There are no tickets left for our dates so now I figure we will have to do a tour. On Aulani's webpage Pearl Harbour is not listed as a tour. What tour companies that provide tickets can anyone recommend. We have a car but if we have to take a bus in order to do the tour that will be OK. I found some tours but they do not pick up at Aulani. HELP!!!

  11. Does anyone know who does a Pearl Harbour tour with a pickup at Aulani. We are a party of 6-10 and want to do the complete tour. Would a private tour be our best option or is there an excellent tour that does our pickup? Your help is appreciated.

  12. We have taken our grandchildren on five Disney cruises and yes they are expensive but are worth it. On our first cruise they were 3 1/2 and 1 1/2. The oldest is a girl and the first time she saw Mickey in the lobby when we first entered the ship, the look in her eyes was worth a million dollars. They are now 12 and 14 and I suggested a RC cruise because of the many things for their age groups to do but all they want is Disney. The 12 year old still spends time in the Club but the 14 year old does not but they both still enjoy their Disney Cruises. My husband and I also enjoy them as it is the only cruise line that enforces "Adult Only" areas. The service is exceptional and we find the food to have more healthy options than other cruise lines. Yet, the grandchildren still love their chicken nuggets and hamburgers. The entertainment is Broadway on a Ship. When my husband and I cruise alone we do not do Disney but with the kids as long as they want it, it will be Disney.

  13. I would like the Westin in downtown Seattle but could accept the Sheraton or the Marriott Waterfront. The motel on hotwire is 4* Pikes - is this the Westin??? As you can see I am new to the whole process. It seems that everyone either gets the Sheraton or the Westin - true or false - if you search for a 4*.
