  1. Cherry on Top doesn't sell any ice cream. Candy and gifts only. self serve softy/frozen yogurt in the Lido(24 hrs?). During lunch, they also serve you gelato @ Lido buffet, two different flavors a day! Highly recommend the gelato! As far as using app to reserve a table for breakfast, brunch, lunch or dinner, I never waited more than 10 minutes for a table using the app on my Sept 25 cruise.

Question:  Do those passengers get 39 days of extra credit toward their Captain's Circle standing???

I was on the Diamond when it got quarantined in Yokohama. I received 29 cruise days on my capt. circle acct., 15 days for the cruise and 14 days in quarantine on the ship before getting flown back to the US by the US Embassy, where I had to quarantine for 14 more days! I received full refund of cruise fare paid to my credit card, but the 100% FCC given for future booking didn't include the govt. fees/taxes!

    😏

Has anyone taken this free shuttle from Yamashita Pier to the Daikoku Pier Cruise Terminal recently?   I downloaded a map showing meeting point but was wondering if there is a sign posted at the meeting point or some other landmark???   We'll be staying at the Hotel Monterey Yokohama and walking over to the pick up spot.

I took the port shuttle 01/20/20. A short walk through the gate to the waiting buses. Buses run every 10-20 minutes and takes about 15 minutes to get to Daikoku where there is 2 large tent buildings where you drop your luggage and register.

Searching for the same information myself (on the Diamond in March).  Found this on the web which may be of some help.  We were originally coming by train to Nihon-Odori station, and this would mean only one more stop and a similar walk.

No mention of the pick-up times, but there are contact details on this page  https://www.city.yokohama.lg.jp/lang/overseas/port/cruise/cruise-en.html

Would be interested in how you get on ...

  6. Is the cabin steward allowed to accept a gift of what remains of our mini bar? Has anyone ever done that?

Yes, cabin stewards can accept & use whatever you don't want or use from your setup. I have done this several times. Just tell them and they'll be happy to oblige. If they don't use it themselves, they can trade or give away to other crew members.

  7. I always, simply take the cheap bus. I've been on 11 horn cruises. Excellent service and less than $10. From the San Antonio bus station with is only about a mile from the port, there was a free shuttle bus, this past season. I took it in both directions.

BudgetQueen, Can you give me more info on taking the public bus from San Antonio to Santiago? Do you pay on the bus or need to buy a ticket(office or Ticket machine?) Local currency or Credit Card? Asking for directions @ station, Spanish only or some English? Thanks in advancs.

  8. Al Wahda in Dubai?

If you are flying into AUH with Etihad, you are eligible for a ride on the Etihad coach service to Dubai. You can book that on line from the EY website.

I meant Al Wahda area in Abu Dhabi. Thanks for info on taxi info, but I'm still interested in taking public bus to sight-see while in Abu Dhabi,

  9. I have a quick question on disembarking in Havana on a private tour. When could you get off and how soon after docking?

Sent from my SM-T580 using Forums mobile app

When we arrived in Havana 2 weeks ago, the ship was delayed about an hour due to MSC ship leaving the dock late. Once we docked, people going on their own had to get a ticket w/ a group #. They started passing out tickets around 2:00pm, I got there around 2:20 , my ticket # was 17 and had to wait about an hour before called to disembark.Everyone getting off needs to go through Cuba immigration($75 visa) so the first day took some time for the groups to be processed.Ships tours (depending on excursion time) were called first, but on your own groups were also called 5 group #s at a time.I would allow at least 2 hours after ships arrival time to meet your guide assuming you are one of the first group #s to be called.

  10. Having just returned from this cruise I feel that Oceania's offer of $500.00 is a derogatory one, in as much as they are keeping all the compensation in house. If they had any regard for customer care and retention the offer should have been for a credit against this particular cruise and not for a future cruise. Many people for whom this was a once in a lifetime trip will not cruise again or choose to cruise again with Oceania therefore the compensation is no good what-so-ever to them. Shame on Oceania!

I was also on this cruise. Agree with you completely. First time with Oceania, most likely last one.

  11. Just because you like some features on some given ship doesn't mean that someone else will like that ship. Different tastes for different people. It's the same with ships as well as cruise lines. My wife and I spent a couple of weeks on the Island going from Florida through the Panama Canal to California. It had not been her favorite ship before but she really enjoyed that trip and the Island is now one of her favorites. That is WHY we will probably cruise on it again, given the chance. That doesn't mean that your opinion of the Island is right and ours is wrong or vice versa. It simply means that the two opinions are very different. If you don't like the Island, don't go on it but don't infer that someone else is wrong for liking that ship simply because you don't agree with their viewpoint.

    Tom

I agree! Have been on the Island multible times pre & post retrofit as well as on the Coral. Everyone has their own likes and dislikes. Having Churchill's lounge is a big plus! My 2 cents.
