Possibly your reference is out of date.   The UK has no regulations on covid and isolation.    I was advised of this when I left the ship.   It is totally voluntary if you choose to isolate.  I personally don't agree with this.      The "Recommended" isolation period is 7 day in England and 10 days in Scotland.

Even though we tested negative we decided to rent an AirBnB in Scotland and abide by the 10 days isolation period before we socialize with family.

Sorry, think we have crossed lines. I am from UK (hence my reference to the gov.uk website advice on overseas travel) but my post was referring to Italy not UK

If you are positive on the ship Celebrity have to follow the Italian protocols.  Therefore they tell the Italian authorities you have covid and you are placed in an approved Italian hotel for I believe 10 days.  You would not get a choice, it is Italian law.  If however you tested positive after your disembarkation it would be on your conscience as to if you were prepared to board your Easyjet flight knowing you are positive.  I assume being British you wouldn't actually need to test once you've left the ship so could happily fly with no worries.

Basically everyone travelling at present needs to make themselves aware of the country requirements where they are disembarking.  Rule of thumb: if you are positive tested onboard and quarantined once your cruise ends you are following the rules and laws of that country for if you need quarantine ashore.

May I just check the 10 days ? My understanding, from the gov.uk website is that it is 7 days if you are fully vaccinated. I think it is 10 days if you are not vaccinated. I also understand from discussions I've seen on another board that, if you have arranged your own accomodation where you can self isolate such as an appartment or airBnN, that may be possible. I guess who knows until we hear of specific cases in Italy and what has happened to them.

I haven’t read all the posts here, so not fully up to speed. We are spending 3 days in Civitavecchia prior so had planned on testing at the hotel with our on-line test kits when it was 1 day prior and then 2 days prior, now back to 1 day.

But since they are testing the ‘Fully-Vaccinated’, those that took the vaccines later than 270days prior and no booster At the terminal, I was wondering if that suffices for us who are designed ‘Up to Date’. It says

    • Up to Date* Guests: Must present a negative Antigen test taken within 1 day prior to sailing. Testing at the terminal will not be required.

Just asking if anyone knows if we have ‘issues’ with taking our tests the day prior, if we can be tested at the terminal as a back up? Realize there will be time tied up in all that, but would be good as a back up.

    den

We are hoping the same as an emergency back-up if there is a problem with the online supervised tests we will now have to take with us to use 1 day prior to cruise. The online tests look reliable but if there is a problem with that testing process then there is no pharmacy back-up in Civi on a Sunday so we will have no choice but to go to the port on the Monday and explain. Surely they wouldn't refuse to test you and let you board ???

I've just seen it too !!  This is getting past a joke. We have changed our travel arrangements on the basis of the 2 day change. Just feel so stressed by all of this. The problem is you can't even get through to anyone to have a sensible conversation

Can’t wait for that first cocktail!

Not sure if this changes anything for you but Celebrity have now updated the Healthy At Sea page on their website to say testing is now 2 days before sailing. It will for us as we can now get test led in the Uk

Yes, I've just seen it ! It means we will probably now get tested at Mcr airport on Saturday before we fly. What a relief ! Planning my cocktails now 🙂

    Hi

We are one the same sailing as you and flying from Manchester on the Sunday morning. We had an email from Dave in Celebrity Protocol Queries as below:

"Following your covid related query I can confirm that Celebrity Cruises are looking for something called a 'fit to fly' certificate dated the day before you sail.

This can be any kind of covid test as long as it is observed by a healthcare professional. As you may be required to take the test whilst in Italy, below are some options available to you.
The companies in the following list can deliver a test to you, which you can take with you to Italy, then you can schedule a video call for a time that suits you and get the certficate digitally
Below that I have also included a link to a worldwide portal for finding test locations which you can book online

Please see below for a list of options for suppliers of antigen tests and 'fit to fly' certificates.

Hi s100onn, thank you very much for posting that. It is re-assuring to know that uk based online supervised will be fine but it's put me in a bit of a quandry re which supplier. We have used C19 testing a few times and they have been superb and quick so we had confidence that they wouldn't let us down. Surprised why they are not on the list as they are the which? recommended provider. I'll have a look at the ones on your list........We are flying into Pisa on the Saturday and getting the train to Civi on the Sunday so intend to do our online supervised test from hotel in Pisa before we get the train. We will all deserve a massive cocktail once on board, after all of this !! Hope everything goes well for you.

I looked at C19 but they don't seem to have a video supervised test on their website. I am Italy for a number of  days before so essential I have one to take with me. Quite a lot of companies could not do the video link.

If you are at home in UK the day before sailing it's much easier with more choice.

Thanks for your good wishes, I hope you too have great trip.

Hi, C19 definitely do supervised. I have put the link below for you. I also exchanged emails with them to check how the video link worked. Collinsons are one of the big test providers though so I am sure that will be just fine, I think they provide testing at a lot of the UK airports. Best wishes

I'm using Collinson as they offer the correct test with a guaranteed time. For what it's worth they are also recommended on P&O site. My T/A checked and apparently they are reliable.

OK thank you. Good luck, hope everything goes well for you and you have a great holiday

Yes that's correct. They told me it was easiest thing to do.  I've booked tests for the Friday midmorning.

If it goes wrong my hotel indicates a walk in at Central Station as a backup.

OK thank you very much. Who did you decide to buy your tests from ? We feel happy with C19 as we have used them before. All so stressful this !

We have been directed to the UK Government site by Celebrity to purchase video tests to take with us.  My hotel in Rome has offered to book us a Friday test at a local testing clinic at the main railway station if we need it.  I also understand you can book tests via some websites such as Firstmed or Doctors in Rome.

Megabear, just read your post. So, did Celebrity say to you that you can use an video supervised test as long as the provider is on the Gov.uk recommended list ? Many thanks

  11. Hi

We are starting cruise on Monday 16th May from Civitavecchia. We are flying from the UK in to Pisa on the Saturday, so 2 days before. It is our intention to take tests with us that will be done supervised online from our hotel on the Sunday morning. We intend to buy them from C19 testing who we have used before, and we know are easy to use and reliable, and are the Which? recommended provider in the UK and on the UK government approved list. They are not, however, on the US FDA list. We can't get an answer from Celebrity as to whether that provider is acceptable. Which tests are others from UK taking to use ? Does anyone know if it matters who you get the tests from as long as they are supervised ?

    Many thanks

  12. Thank you for your advice Hlitner. We love walking and like to take in the natural scenery as well as city sights. I guess we will see how the weather is.

May I also echo your sentiment. We are parents of young teenagers and can only imagine the unbearable pain and suffering of Friday's events. In our own personal way we would like to show our support for Oslo by continuing with our plans to fully explore this wonderful city without any fear or reservations. We will not allow our impressions and memories of such a beautiful country be overshadowed by this mindless act.

    Thank you again.
