    It was not on this forum (FB) and when no facts or first person accounts were put forth the moderator shut down the discussion. It involved two employees.  So having heard nothing further I assume it was an unfounded rumor. Unfounded rumors are common on social media, unfortunately.

    I think you may have misunderstood the previous poster. A good TA will charge you the same price as the cruise line and then throw you some extra benefits. Mine rebates part of his commission to me. He also watches for price drops and automatically applies them for me. Why would I want to book direct and not get these things when the direct price would be the same to me and the cruise line gets to keep the difference?

  4. Oh, OK. I read some of the posts differently. I guess then he will be getting on when we get on on the 16th. My signature Chocolate Martini will be on his desk when he arrives at his desk, assuming he starts his shift at 12 noon, which is customary.

     

     

     

    CptSticky, are you on-board this week, and continuing next week? Eloise and I will be on for three weeks starting this Sunday.

     

     

     

    We get off for one week but will be back on the 23rd and the 30th.

  5. hold on folks, straight line 70 mph winds last night, we have many downed trees and power went out about 8 pm...not supposed to get it back until 11:30 pm Friday night. Good thing we have a generator but we don't run it all the time. The farm's tool shed was blown onto the neighbors garage, both demolished and the irrigation pivot is all twisted, good thing there's insurance. Calf hutches blew away, leaving the calves. They're not hurt but we had to round them up to put in an extra pen. Good thing we had an empty one. I'll post the chart when we get power back.

     

     

     

    Wow. Sorry to hear. Makes me more and more thankful that I found a sucker, er I mean buyer for my avocado grove last Spring. Got really tired of winds, frost, fires and the list used to go on and on.

    Anyway, glad you are safe and yes, great to have insurance. Not everything we went through was covered but it was really nice when they were. And thanks to the taxpayers who helped with the insurance.

    I'll find out for sure on 09/02 because I'll visit both lounges (or this weekend when I get the concierge welcome letter).....and yes, she goes by Beatrice. Just checked the spreadsheet and it looks like Lyli is up there now......It was Claudine & Lyli last time for me and Beatrice was in the DL....

     

     

     

    Last week it was Claudine in the DL, Lyli & Beatrice in the SL. Fredirico on vacation. Last Sunday Lyli left for vacation and Fredirico was scheduled to return. So this week it should be Beatrice in DL. If it didn’t happen this way I can correct on the 9th (my next).

  7. My partners and I have limited posting access to the Google Doc to the 3 of us. It is read-only to everyone else.

     

    We had some problems with people adding pages and other stuff by mistake or even putting nasty stuff on the Google Doc like "Piss of the Seas."

     

    If you have updates or changes, please post them on this Cruise Critic Thread and we will update the Google Doc.

     

    I'm sure your intentions are good but we have been maintaining the thread and the Google Doc and have found that limiting posting access to the 3 of us is the best way to keep the Google Doc clean.

  8. I changed the rotation date to the 19th...there have been some 11 week and 13 week rotations recently with this ship so it must be payback time

     

     

     

    This is his last week. Quite a show at top tier. They turned the fountains on him. Then ice buckets and finally handed him a Speedo. Which he put on over his uniform. Then postured.

  9. Is anyone else having trouble getting email to/from Concierge? I have emailed two different ships and have not gotten a reply from either. I would think it was in my end but I know other emails I sent around that time did transmit. So just curious if anyone else was having an issue.

  10. You would want to check HAL's site for forbidden items, but based on other lines I've sailed the issue is surge protection and a non-surge protected strip would be fine. You will likely need an extension cord for the CPAP machine too, but again double check what is allowed on HAL (also if you can carry-on the distilled water or need to purchase from the ship).

     

     

     

    Don’t know about HAL but Royal will provide an extension cord for a CPAP if requested through special needs ahead of time.
