  1. In our experience, no grandfathering…we have a short cruise on the Majestic in a couple of months that we’d literally upgraded to the now-old Premier right before the latest change.  We were told we can leave it that way or pay the difference, so we’re leaving it.  Then we have a B2B2B coming up about a year from now on the Sun…already have old Premier and going to pay to upgrade as soon as they’ll let us. All of these are casino offer cruises.

Enjoy the Sun, hope it’s a great time! ☀️

  2. Not sure what products are available for use in the laundry room on the ships, but we always take some laundry detergent sheets that you can buy on Amazon - specifically the unscented/free & clear kind (because I’m allergic to many things and cannot have scents on my clothing/soap/etc - plus the sheets travel SO much better than other options).   I can also say that we used the laundry service on our last cruise on the Regal and I didn’t have any issues with scents from that either.   Hope that helps!

  3. I’ve always had ATD and have gluten/egg issues. Because they assign me a “head waiter” on the first night and I order for the next evening after my dinner each night, wherever I’m seated I just tell the waiter “I have food allergies, so [name of head waiter] has my order.” Then my head waiter is alerted that I’ve been seated and he comes by the table to confirm my order...and all is well! (haven’t gotten sick on Princess or Norwegian using the same ordering method, so something must be working!) [emoji4]

  4. I used one like Pescado showed in their post for a 15 day Panama Canal cruise on the Coral Princess and it worked great! So nice to free up space and I didn’t have to wait to access something if the bathroom was in use. I’ve also used them since that cruise, but mostly on 7-days or longer cruises.

  5. My parents cruised a lot in the 80s, always on Princess. My mom always took plenty of formal dresses and semi-formal outfits and dad had his tuxedo and nice suits. While I’m thankful that I can wear more casual dresses to dinner in the MDR nowadays, I always loved looking at the beautiful cruise photos of my parents when they returned from their adventures. The one time they left out of San Francisco, they reserved one of the lounges and had a bon voyage party with lots of our friends and family. As the ship was leaving, they tossed streamers at those of us on shore...I was probably 10 or 11 at the time and thought it was pretty darn cool. (I found out later that my older siblings short-sheeted my parents’ bed in their cabin, which dad deemed not so cool!). [emoji6]

  6. Lots of great suggestions/ideas...just wanted to throw my two cents into the mix as well.

I have a couple different kinds of chronic pain going on and being cold makes everything worse for me. So layers of clothing are my friend...thin sweaters, a couple of pashmina scarves, and my favorite thick hooded sweatshirt always cruise with me. I also tend to bring a small heating pad with me in case I need to warm up my lower back, shoulders, or other painful spots.

  7. To the OP:

Your cabin C420 is right next door to "our" cabin on the Crown, C424. One year we spent 4 different cruises on the Crown in C424. We decided that we had spent more days in that cabin that year than any other passengers. (we take longer cruises). And we book insides more often than not. That way we can cruise more and see the world! Enjoy your cruise!

OH! We're going to be in C424 on the Crown in March! It looks great location wise, but I wonder if you can hear any noise from the elevators. Since you've booked it more than once, I'm going to guess that you felt it wasn't noisy...is that correct? Thanks so much for lending us your cabin for a week! ;) We promise to leave it in good shape!

  8. We stayed at the Edgewater last summer before our cruise to Alaska and we loved it! We upgraded to the water view and took advantage of the tub and the fireplace...and we woke up to the Norwegian Jewel, right outside our window. :)

Another way to get around...we took the free hotel shuttle to Pike Market and then walked back to the hotel after eating/shopping...and we even found a Cost Plus for some local wine and snacks on our way back.

    Enjoy your stay there!

  9. Priceline

    Date: Friday, July 26, 2013

Number of nights: 1 (pre cruise)

    Hotel: The Edgewater

Stars in bid: 4 star (or higher)

    Area: Seattle, WA

    Winning Bid: $195

    Taxes & Service Fees: $38.53

Coupon (5% off): summer (saved $9.75)

    Total Price: $223.78

I'd been bidding twice daily for the last few weeks...still feel like it's expensive, but keep reminding myself that it IS a "big city" and saw that there's some music festival going on that same weekend. There were a ton of hotels with no vacancy, so am very happy to have this off of my to-do list.
