We are booked in a mini suite with 4 adults next summer. My husband, myself and 2 young adult children. I was going to put them inside across the hall but the 3rd and 4th free was too good to pass up. We have sailed many times with 4 in a balcony cabin but this will be our first NCL trip! I kind of enjoy spending the extra time with my kids (they might not agree but they don’t complain about the free trip).

We were there several years ago and for us it was also the only port I hadn't prearranged a tour. Half of our group didn't leave the ship but my husband, 2 of my kids and I walked out. There were pedi cab operators at the end of the dock and we went on a really nice tour of the city. We really didn't go in anywhere but it was a lot of fun to see the city and we were all glad we got off the ship!

I've been on lots of cruises and never missed a port - I know I'm jinxing myself for this summer!

I was on a horseback riding excursion last summer and we all had to get on a scale. My son was once on a parasailing excursion and they did not let one of the guys go up even though he was on the boat. I know both of these are different circumstances and were safety factors especially for the horses but I would definitely check before I went there and was disappointed.

I was happy. I never wanted to make the steward remove the stuff but I never once used any of it and like to put my own water in there. John Heald asked about the mini bar on his Facebook page more than once and my guess is most people didn't want it and removing and counting items was a lot of work.

We went on a New Years cruise on RC this year and my husband and son's passports expired in April and no one said a thing. I read the 6 months rule too and intended to call the cruise line and forgot......

My parents do Carnival luggage express but don't take the carnival shuttle.
I agree with airboss about doing something fun in the area but if that makes you nervous Carnival does have excursions on the last day that will drop you off at the airport. Sitting around the airport until 4:30 will get really old! -
I think the suites (even the ocean suites ) are significantly larger than the regular balcony rooms. The big difference for me is the dressing area which makes my cruise so much more pleasant (2 of my sons always stay in the room with us). It would be nice if there were extra perks but that would up the price :-)

I really liked the Jacksonville port. Parking was really easy - right there by the ship. I think we got there around 11 and drove right in!

We went June 13th and they still had the old menus.

We recently sailed out of Jacksonville (north Florida) and the vibe was definitely different. Lots of people from Georgia and the Carolinas. I've never cruised from Texas - we were supposed to go on the Triumph a couple of years back .......

The one time we asked to have the divider opened it almost totally covered up our window and we immediately had it closed again. I don't remember which ship it was or where we were located (I know I'm not very helpful). But, when we asked the cabin steward did it right away - no problem at all. I may be wrong but I don't think it could be removed - I think it's on a hinge and it would be really difficult to get through the balcony door.

I've added a person several times. Sometimes they can be added to the existing room and sometimes we have to move. Just call and they will help you! Have fun on your trip.

I came to ask a similar question today - my parents will be in a cabin with my son who is turning platinum this cruise. My parents are gold and my Dad wants to buy the faster to the fun for himself and my Mom. Is there any reason for this purchase or will he get to board with the platinum guests (will have all on the boarding pass) and get priority tender and debarkation.... Thanks!

We've done this many times. No one ever said anything!

I always book through a PVP at carnival. He always looks for the best prices and is just great! But, I had heard it was better to book through a TA for Celebrity so I tried that a couple of months ago. Her price ended up being about $300 higher for same category of room. She was doing nothing extra for me so I canceled with her and booked directly through Celebrity. I know I could have her price match but it wasn't worth it. I wanted to book through a TA to make things easier not more difficult.

Check with carnival to see if they cover pre existing conditions. I have been told in the past that they don't. The outside companies will cover pre existing conditions if you purchase the insurance within a certain time period after you book the cruise. You can also add your flights to the outside insurance if you are flying. It's cheaper for us to buy via outside company but more expensive for my parents but they have more pre existing conditions..... So, I always buy outside.

We had problems once and I couldn't figure out why. We were platinum and in a suite so there was no reason for them to be late. I had printed the tags on our laser printer so they were black and white (which the website says is ok) but from then on I used a color printer and have had no problems!

The children were around 10 years old when they went to the afternoon tea.

We have taken our kids to the teas. I think they were around 10 when they started going. They find it kind of interesting. I don't think it's their favorite thing to do but they are always willing to go - and they are boys! Have fun!!

As stated by others the regular hand sanitizers and wipes do not kill the noro virus. Do a google search for hand sanitizers and wipes that are more effective against the virus. I did this for our upcoming cruise and purchased them on amazon. Regular hand washing is best but it's nice to have the special hand sanitizer right before you eat and the special wipes to wipe down the room. I think I will also pick up a can of Lysol III in Fort Lauderdale before I board! As well as bring some Imodium just in case.....I would not discourage people from using the hand sanitizer provided by the ship - it's effective for some things - just not norovirus.

Hmm- I think my parents having the FTTF would be the only time this wouldn't upset me! I'm glad I bought it for them!!
