  1. We did cave tubing with Nick at Belize Exotic Adventures     http://www.discoverbelize.bz/  It was AMAZING.  He does so much more than the bigger groups.  On the walk to the caves, he showed us all kinds of fun and interesting stuff.  Our son even ate termites!  He was so fun with the kids - he really catered the tour to them. We got off the tubes and went up into the caves to see artifacts as well as cliff jumping for those who wanted.  I can't say enough about this tour.  There is nothing wrong with the big groups, but we loved the personalized attention and "extras" that we got with these guys.

  2. Our RCCL cruise stopped in St Thomas on Nov 10. We went to Coki beach and loved it. We rented chairs and umbrellas. The restaurants on the beach are functioning, but they can only serve grilled food because they don't have power. As far as vendors go, we had no problems at all. In fact, we all commented on how nice the contrast was to all of the other islands we had visited. We did a lot of snorkeling and it was decent. Even though Coral World wasn't open, we were able to snorkel over there. We went in with uncertain expectations, but this ended up being one of our favorites of the week. Our taxi driver said they have had a lot of rain since the storms, so the island is very green. But a lot of the trees right on the beaches were destroyed. Not all of the beaches rent umbrellas because they relied on those trees for shade, so you may want to ask your driver about that if it is important to you. All of the people seemed very happy to have the tourists back.

  3. We will be visiting St Thomas on Nov 10 with RCCL. I don't know about the skyride, but this is on their website regarding St Thomas and Magen's Bay:

"Upon arrival in St. Thomas guests will be able to enjoy a vast array of activities, dining and shopping. Downtown shops are open and have full power, the majority of restaurants and bars are also open, and the boats and catamarans that are used to enjoy the waters of the Caribbean are ready for guests. We are also partnering with the USVI government to restore Magen’s Bay, one of St. Thomas’ most popular tourist attractions. The beach will have its grand re-opening coinciding with Adventure’s arrival on November 10. Magen’s Bay will be joined by Secret Sands Beach, Secret Harbor Beach Club, Lindquists Beach, Honeymoon Beach on Water Island, and Abi Beach – all open for guests to enjoy."

You will probably be able to get more accurate information after some of us get back from visiting these islands over the next couple of weeks. :)

  4. We will be there on November 5 as well, and were hoping to do the same trip through Blue Water Safaris. We are having trouble finding available options with any of the tour operators on that day, including Blue Water Safaris. They don't seem to offer tours every day of the week, and Sunday seems especially difficult to get to Nevis with the ferries also being on a limited schedule. Please share if you find a good option. :)

  5. We are not fans of the Costco snorkel gear - too much leaking and fogging. Last spring we were in Hawaii and decided to rent quality gear. We are sold on paying extra so you don't have to constantly struggle.

For that same trip, we wanted a full face mask for our 9 year old son, since this was to be his first snorkel experience. I did quite a bit of research, and had narrowed it down to the SeaView and the Tribord. We went with the Tribord because it had a smaller size for children. We were very happy with it. I tried it a couple of times and it was great - no fogging or leaking.

One disadvantage is that you can't dive down very deep. But I usually stick to the surface anyway. One other suggestion is to keep it out of the sand - it is more difficult to clean out than a regular mask and snorkel.

  6. I could be wrong about this, but I think there is only the one ATV operation on St Kitts. I know when I was booking for our group last year, I figured this out when I was gathering information from the various tour websites offering ATV tours. There are several different tour agents that advertise an ATV excursion, but they all book with the same operator: Spectrum ATV. We booked directly through Spectrum, and we had a great time. We had enough people to fill our session, so we were able to get a little wild and crazy, as we all had experience on ATV's. Just know that you will get very dusty and dirty. Take clothes specifically for this activity - and I would recommend longer shorts/pants.
