We are considering doing this as well. Would you mind telling me what all that you were able to see? I really don't care about seeing the Apes, but I want to see everything else. 🙂

Also, is there a great place to eat in town? Thank you!

Wow…this was awhile ago, but I do have some notes and a brochure filed.

    I found this link - https://gibraltarinfo.gi/top-10-attractions/

At the bottom is a map.  I think we visited most listed on our walk down.

We walked from the ship to the cable car base station and took the cable car to the top.

We headed in the direction of the Skywalk first.  Then we did the side-hike to O’hara’s battery.  After that we headed down towards St Michael’s Cave.  Then we headed back towards the other side to visit the tunnels.  I believe we saw the Moorish Castle, but were pretty hot and tired, and I don’t think we visited it.  From that point we just went down lots of stairs to get back to the main town.

We did encounter apes along our route.

I can’t advise on eating.  We stopped at a pub for a beer and then headed back to the ship.

Enjoy your time.  It was a fun day!

  2. We have been to Bonaire twice.  The first time, a number of years ago, we booked with Woodwind for snorkelling and it was excellent.

Last week, we booked a Twizy tour with Roadrunner-Bonaire.  It was a lot of fun and we got to see the wild flamingoes!  A highlight!

  3. We stayed at the Ikonik Ramblas at the end of May.  It was a nice place to stay and the location was convenient.  It is near the end of Las Ramblas closest to the waterfront.  We were travelling carry-on and were able to walk to the shuttle bus which takes you out to the cruise ships.

  4. We were in La Coruna at the beginning of June.

We chose to get off the ship and walk along the paved sea-front walkway up to the Tower of Hercules and continued around to the beach on the other side of town from where the ship docked.  We then cut back through the town to the ship.  After a bit of a break, we headed back out to the old town which is within walking distance of the ship and explored it for a bit before stopping for a bite to eat.  We enjoy walking so this worked for us!  I have a map of the city, so they must have been available when we got off the ship.

As we were starting our walk a few minutes from the ship, we were handed a flyer for a 2 hour sightseeing tour with 4 stops.  We didn't take this so I can't comment on what it's like.  Just letting you know that this exists!

  5. Have you considered the Ardastra Gardens and zoo?

The flamingo show and feeding the lorikeets are the highlights.  Check the website to be there at the correct times for these events!

Last time we were in Nassau, we took a taxi to the gardens, but walked back.

On the way back, you go past the the Fish Fry area where there are lots of choices for food and drinks.

I believe we also walked past a beach area.

  6. We just did a cave tubing/howler monkey excursion with King David last week.  We were a group of 7, so had a van to ourselves.  It was a long day though as these 2 things aren't close together and neither are they near the port - so a lot of driving.  (Maybe 45-60 min to the monkeys, then another 45-60 min to the tubing, then another 45-60 min back to port....best guess!)  We did all thoroughly enjoy our time though.

If you wanted to limit the driving, then I would recommend the cave tubing only.  Our excursion also included lunch at a really cute little restaurant close to the cave tubing.  I would highly recommend including that in your day!

Another thought is the Belize Zoo.  I have visited there a few times.  All of the animals are native to Belize and it's a bit like exploring in the jungle!

  7. I have not done this specific excursion, but I have gone to the Belize zoo multiple times with Carnival.

The zoo is a bit of a drive (maybe 45 min or so?) outside of the city, but the guides talk a lot about Belize so the time passes quickly.  The zoo itself contains only animals native to Belize in their natural habitat.  I have always enjoyed it and if your 4-year old likes looking at animals, I'm sure they will too!  The tours that I have been on, they guide you through the zoo, so you get some more detailed information and history about the specific animals rather than just reading signs.

  8. We just returned from a cruise that started in Salerno and ended in Athens. It included Corfu, Mykonos and Crete. While we enjoyed the cruise, we found it VERY HOT. We normally do a lot of walking and try to see as much as possible in the port time available, but it was just too hot to do that.

We did a Med cruise in May a few years ago that ended in Athens (no Greek Islands though) and found the temperatures much more pleasant.

So....I would advise matching what you want to do with timing of the year in order to make the most of your trip.

  9. A few years ago we stayed at the Hilton on Giudecca.

The Hilton is a stop on the Alilaguna boat line. On arrival at the airport, you can walk over to the docks where the Alilaguna leave from and then get dropped in front of the hotel. The line continues to the cruise port so easy to pick up and transfer to the port.

The hotel has private boats which transfer you between Giudecca and a couple of stops on the main part of Venice.

  10. Our ship docked in Salerno on a Sunday a couple of weeks ago. I wanted to have a more adventurous day, but since it was August (busy tourist season) and Sunday (more limited transportation options) we voted for a more limited day.

(My original plan was to take the ferry to Amalfi, bus to Ravello, hike down to Minori and then ferry back to Salerno.)

We were provided a free shuttle into town from the cruise ship. From there we walked to the ferry terminal. We were able catch the 8:40am ferry (at least I think it was the 8:40am, but it seemed like it left closer to 9). It was packed!

We chose just to go to Amalfi for the day. We wandered around the town, up and down the pier, poked in some stores, stopped for a snack and then decided to head back. It was VERY hot, and normally we do a lot of walking, but a half day or so was enough for us.

I did see some golf carts heading out of town advertising a Lemon Tour. I found the store advertising it, but they said it would require phoning to see if any reservations were available. If I'd known about that ahead of time I would have looked into it. So...I can't add any info other than it exists.

We did have some lemon gelato that was awesome!

I'm sure we could have made much more of our time, but the heat just drained us. The views from the ferry were really enjoyable. We didn't do anything in Salerno other than walk to/from the shuttle stop to the ferry terminal. It was a very nice walk along the water though.

We were a group of 7, and in hindsight, my sister thought we should have booked a private boat for the day to take us to Amalfi, and then stop and swim on the return.

  11. We used PK travel about 10 days ago.

We were picked up at the port at 9am. Did a day trip along the coast up to Cape Sounion and then were dropped at the airport at 4pm.

Everything was seamless and we all enjoyed our day. We were a group of 7. The driver spoke excellent English and tailored the day to meet our needs.

  12. I can comment on your second day plans!

We just got off a cruise ship in Athens about 10 days ago. We booked a private vehicle (for 7 of us) which picked us up at the port with our luggage at 9am. We headed up the coast towards Cape Sounion. Several of our group wanted to stop for coffee, so our driver found a café right on the water/beach for a morning stop. We had a 9-year old with us, and there was a playground right next door for him.

We continued up the coast to the temple. Only 3 wanted to go to the temple, so the rest of us were dropped at the beach below. We paid for some chairs/shade and enjoyed some time at the beach. The other 3 joined us after.

When we were done with the beach we headed out for lunch. Our driver found another nice restaurant overlooking the water.

We finished with a drop-off at the airport at 4pm. We were continuing our trip to Corfu for a week.

We booked this through PK travel. Our driver spoke excellent English and totally tailored our day to what we wanted to do. We all really enjoyed the day.

  13. We were in Chania 2 weeks ago on a cruise stop.

Walking around the old town will be a good way to spend your time.

Make sure you visit the Municipal market. We took the shuttle bus into town. It was provided by the local bus company and was 1.70 euros pp each way. We were dropped off very close to the market.

The harbour is beautiful and worth walking around as well.

  14. The Dalmore Distillery is in the town of Alness near Invergordon. When I was researching, the map showed a walk along the water to the distillery. I could never quite get a handle on the distance, but believed it was 3 miles or so. We did do the distillery tour and really enjoyed it. We planned a busier day, so never tried the walk. We just used the local transit to get to Inverness, then got off at Alness on the way back. After the tour we picked up the local bus back to Invergordon.

If this interests you, you can pre-book your tour through the Dalmore Distillery website. If you wanted to walk there/back, maybe they could help you get a better handle on how to go about that.
