Many thanks Bruin Steve...your response made me realize that probably we should fly back home (East Coast) through LAX and if its only 4 miles difference, then LAX it is.
I was just under the impression that LGB was much closer but you should know since you do live in LA. We do plan on buying transfers from the cruise line to get to the airport.
Again, Thanks for shedding some light into this dilemma we were facing.
This will be our very first time in LA and we are really looking forward to it.
Happy Cruising Steve :)

Will be arriving by cruise ship on May 4th ( NCL Pearl) and was just wondering which airport is closer- Long Beach or LAX
Another poster said that LAX is about 45 minutes away ( not counting traffic) from CP- whereas Long Beach Airport is only 15-18 minutes away?
Before I go and buy Airfare, I need to know which would be better for us
Both JetBlue and SWAir have nonstop flights from both airports.
Your reply is deeply appreciated.

I have researched a lot of hotels in Rome for our weekend in October pre-cruise. Several that I wanted were sold out. I am down to the following:
Hotel Nerva around 559 Euros queen room
La Clariesse al Pantheon around 475 Euros double room
Hotel Navona around 337 Euros standard room
Hotel Abruzzi around 482 Euros double room (620 for view)
Hotel Napoleon around 418 Euros for double superior room
They all sound similar in amenities and in close proximity to everything we would like to see. Is there anything good/bad I should know before I book about any of these places. I don't care so much about the money at this point when I think about how much the whole trip is.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
How many days are you staying for?
We are staying at the Albergo Cesari for 3 days and paying 686 EU and the Hotel is centrally located. You can walk to the Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps and the Pantheon and even to Vatican City. Good Luck with your search.

Hello~ I work for 7 Orthopedic Surgeons and even though you do not care for hot sneaker shoes with socks to be walking around in the islands, those are the BEST for your feet and PF.....:o...Nike's at that.....just saying.....
This is what they recommend to all patients who come in with this Dx. I too have PF.... no severe, but IT IS there!...I never travel w/o my Nikes if I plan to do that much walking. They have very thin ankle-biters out there and i wear them with the Nikes.
I leave the "cute sandals" for night time and walking through out the ship.
Have fun on your cruise ayway. I am sure you will have a blast in whatever type of shoes you decide to take. Take care. :)

I like the little Gift basket as well ;) it does come in handy when you are coming back from a tour of some kind and starving to death!
Believe it or not, I like the Diamond basket best ( see picture posted by Arzeena) instead of the D+ one, that I get and it is because of the dried fruit
I also wish they would bring back some of the other items ( towels, totes, different type of hat )

Due to go to Guatemala this coming Oct. and was also wondering how to get there and how long of a ride it is. All of you just answered that for me. Many Thanks!
Also ...was it a "safe" environment?...did they hassle you to buy their stuff?...was it a big market? ( like in the Bahamas, a straw market? )
Never been there, so I am wondering.

Thanks for all your tips and advice.
We are due to do the Freedom OTS in Sept and wanted to know where to leave the car. :)

For those of you who suffer from Sea Sickness, try a green apple. It works!
The ship has them in the Buffett line or ask your cabin Steward for one.
Good Luck and have many happy cruises.

Indiana- Love the 3 outfits!...a very "classy" look....;)..believe it or not, the capris are my favorite!
Good job! :)
-
I would suggest buying one-way bus tickets from whatever cruise line you are doing.
The Bus will be right outside as you get off the ship and luggage will be placed underneath the bus.
For the 6 people in your group and luggage, this is the only way to go and know you are still together. JMHO....

You are taking all the fun out of my post. :)
I have been following Cuizer2's posts and he does have a funny but funny sense of humor!...job well done Cuizer2...and keep the funny posts coming and enjoy your cruise....I know you are but I had to say it just the same!!!

No the Internet is fine - we are docked. Since the dock is not moving neither are we. Read the entire post and you will see that I said I was on land - meaning we are docked.
Thank you for clearing that up and also for talking with the two officers about the engine/propulsion problem.
I was on this ship back in November and the Internet was slow as molasses and it kicked you right out of whatever you were doing at the time. They really, really need to replace/fix/all those computers
Hopefully that is one of the things they will do when she goes into Dry-Dock.
Enjoy yourself on this cruise. ;)

Turns out it was not Photobucket that stopped responding, it was the ship's Internet service. I'm surprised the post survived.
My guess would be around 50 kids. It is a two week cruise and there are not many kids here.
Thanks for the quick response.

Oh- Boo-Hoo!..no more photos...:( darn Internet. Oh well...I am still enjoying your review, day by day.
Wanted to ask you....how many kids on this cruise?...remember for Feb 18th they said there were over 700, cause they were out of school.
Can't wait for your next segment.
Enjoy yourself....:)

For anyone reading this week's cruise post, I had friends on the previous cruise. Their sailing was supposed to depart at 4ish on Saturday, February 18th but did not depart until Sunday at around 11. Their stop in Key West was cancelled. Their stop at Coco Cay was cancelled. They received the aforementioned $300 OBC and then, after the second cancellation, they were refunded their cruise fare.
They did get to Port Canaveral, and they got to Nassau (she said they arrived really late in the day, so no chance to try and get over to Atlantis, but I don't know if that was impacted by the engine issues or not).
They have decided cruising is not for them (they are very active, outdoor people who like hiking, biking, etc) but the fact that they were fully refunded, got $300 OBC per cabin and then won $200 at bingo went a long way towards softening what could have been an unpleasant trip.
Hopefully Royal will get this engine issue taken care of before more people end up having scheduled cruises completely altered.
What a sweet deal they got!...I would have been very happy with that ;)

You are welcome. :)

Hi everyone.
Just got off the Enchantment OTS yesterday and Charmaine Fernandes was the Concierge, while Rayno is on Holiday.

Hi. I always fly into Fort Lauderdale when cruising out of Miami.
I also make it a habit to come in one day early and stay at a Hotel that has shuttles to and from the Airport.
I then purchase the bus service from the Cruiseline ( I cruise with RCCL) most of the time and their price is $29 per trip. ( $58 R/T )
I use the hotel shuttle to get me back to the Airport and then find the lady with the sign that says 'Royal caribbean" and check n with her and away I go to Miami. Then I reverse it once the cruise is over.
Hope this helped! :)

I would say...try it once...then if you don't care for it,..next time cruising talk come around, you simply say " No Thanks"
Enjoy your cruise!

Thanks everyone and especially Royalcruz. I booked the Fairfield Inn with lastminutetravel for $69. Other sites wanted $169 so you saved me a bunch. Beth
Ah...Yes...also owned and operated by Marriott.
That is exactly where we are staying in for the same price in January.
Some of the rates for that month are outrageous!!!!...

Marriott Courtyard is very nice. Its in Dania. Very close to the Airport and the Pier. Free Shuttle to and from airport. They will take you from the Hotel to the Port for a fee, I think it's $8 a head.
They have a real nice Bistro there, where you can get Bkfst and dinner but you do have to pay for it.
I stayed there last time and really enjoyed it. JMHO...:)

Thanks for maintaining the thread and the great information and responses.
I agree as well. Many Thanks for all that helped but especially Royalcruz
happy Sailing everyone!

Cruisers seem to like the Fairfield but I haven't been inside.
Thanks for your input.
We like Marriott, so we will probably stay there

The area is fine but not much around...you can walk to Rustic Inn or Islamorada Fish Co. but I don't know if there are any sidewalks.
Would you recommend this hotel?

Awful bedding. Also requested that they do something and all they did was stuff it with "who knows what" but it was a bit better. Had an aching back the whole time.
