I have a dilemma with my disability. We have booked 34 night cruise on Norwegian Sun and have a regular cabin. My question is this, in June we went on the Pride of America and took my wheelchair for the first time and had a problem storing it in the cabin. I try when possible not to use it, but found in June that I got to see more by going out with The husband supplying the 'engine' power. I do not want to take the Disabled cabin from anyone more needy than I, but the thought of having more room and better bathroom for my needs is compelling. I can walk around the cabin with my stick and some days venture out with just that. Other days, such as the June cruise, the wheelchair was used constantly. Do I morally qualify for a disabled cabin do you think? Or should I just battle through?

We're booked on Indy for mid April. Thanks for the comments, can't wait to board for the 8 day itin.
Joe
Boarding 12th April, disembarking 26th April. Our first RCL cruise (although our 12 cruise) and have been hearing/reading many good reviews of IOS so very much looking forward to the experience. A week tomorrow we fly out....Woohoo!

My DH absolutely hates long trousers, but does dress for dinner in long ones on a cruise. He wears shorts all year with the exception of perhaps 10 mornings thru winter. (He claims that only the top half gets cold) What I have bought for him are the 'zip 0ff' leg trousers. He boards in shorts and I carry the zip off pieces in the carry-on luggage and for dinner he zips 'em on. This also works for Mosques, Temples etc. where he is expected to cover up. Comes in handy when travelling and saves carrying an extra pair of trousers for him, thereby giving me that extra few grams for my clothes:D

Two weeks to go and we will get to experience the Indy. First time on RCL, but thanks to your review I feel I will know what to expect. Thank you.

I believe they ask you not to for safety reasons, but heaps of people do regardless. We personally don't take anything like that onboard, but plan our clothing around it. I also believe there is a product available that you can spray on your clothes that remove wrinkles.
-
Did you book this tour through RCCL? I could not find it there. Found one in San Juan though. Thanks

Thank you so much for the photos. We will be on Indy for 14 nights in April. Never cruised RCL previously and your photos and reviews have impressed me. Thank you once again.

Hubby is doing a 3 night 4 day shore excursion from Shanghai - Beijing - Xian - Hong Kong. Nothing has been said about the weight of the carry-on, but after reading the above reports I may have to rethink which carry-on he will use.... Our wheelie is already 4 kilos (8 pounds?) and they say it will be cold weather and that equates to heavier clothing..... Have been very interested in the earlier posts and appreciate the opinions given. Thank you.

We can relax as it won't be happening to us. Air fares are paid waaaay in advance and non-refundable, along with visas etc.... Has to be some perks to living so far from the embarkation ports:)

Have been following your travels and we are doing the same cruise in May next year. PROBLEM, you have made us so excited by your reports/photos, that the time seems to have slowed down dramatically for our countdown:D Thanks for your wonderful posts.

It certainly is a great cruise. Your reviews saves me from doing one. Thanks Dave.

I've been led to believe that laundry and pressing is unlimited. Obviously I will not abuse the use, but it will certainly be nice to know that it is available when required. Packing has been made easier for us as we only have limited weight allowance on the flight, and our cruise will be requiring some warm clothing which equals more weight.
-
To be honest, I only came across the package by accident one day and Hubby was in a good mood and said 'go for it' and so I did. Now I know about them I may do it more often if this coming trip is successful.

I have a package paid for, but have been told that only a limited number are available per cruise. The cost for a 29 night cruise for us was US$670 for double. It may not be a GREAT bargain, but the laundry/tea/etc is good for us and also heaps cheaper than paying for a Suite. I'm still unsure when we get to select drink choices, but assume it will be once we board. Am becoming excited now as only 2 weeks of waiting remain...:D:D It has been a long 15 months.
-
Am enjoying your review very much thank you. We will be there in August, so am taking notes.

We have paid for the Suite Amenities Package for our cruise on the Eurodam in August for 29 nights. I found it in 'Indulgences' then under 'Packages'. The laundry got me and the tea/canapes quickly followed. Have not done it before, so am keen to see just how good it is.

For Hubby, was the maiden voyage of the P & O Oriana 1962? maybe 63? For me was P & O Fairstar, 10 nights to Pacific Islands with DH & two kids. Has become a favourite past time, just not frequent enough. Should have married a millionaire;)
Who cruises with a scooter and walker?

Thank you all for your input. I have decided to stay in a normal balcony cabin for this cruise as I will not be taking my travel scooter, only the wheelchair. The cruise is 34 nights and Hubby is quite happy to lift the wheelchair over any obstacles to store it. As stated above, I also would prefer to continue travelling as long as possible despite my disability. Happy cruising everyone:)
