  1. We have never had a bad meal in the MDR and think they offer a good choice. considering the number of meals they have to serve all at the same time, i think they do a great job.

We were on a cruise once and there was this older couple, on a table for two and every evening they complained about something or other and the head waiter would be back and forth with meals for them. It became a sorce of amusement for us and our table mates!

  2. With 1344 posts on this site I expect the OP knows exactly how the system works and what 'gratitudes' are for.... If you can't afford the 'gratitudes' then don't cruise. Don't stiff the crew.

    Well spotted Little Britain!

Its not fair to take it out in the staff who do a great job!

  3. We love the FOS and are sailing on it again in Feb. we have never encountered any staff member being rude, they always say 'hi' and are friendly. The only complaint I have is nobody is in charge of enforcing the deck rules e.g. Towels cannot be left on sunloungers for longer than 40mins unaccompanied. I have seen towels left all afternoon and nobody using the lounger :(

  4. Hi everyone myself and soon to be husband will be sailing on Harmony next June 12th for our honeymoon. We don't have a credit card and I know we can use a debit card, but is there anything we need to know about that? Will the pre-authorise a certain amount to ensure the funds are there? Also I see from other posts here that we should too the porters and for room service but what currency would that be in? Were from Ireland and cruising in the Med so euros is what I would imagine but will I have to get dollars for those particular tips? Thanks in advance. Aoife x

I have used a Visa Debit card on a couple of cruises, no problem. The only time you will need to tip the Porter is when you drop off your cases, a couple of Euros are fine fir this, as after your cruise they are on a carosel and you collect them yourself. Normally you pre pay your gratutues for the onboard tips, so inless you want to give extra then you dont need any extra cash for this.

  5. Getting stung with 'The Welcome Aboard Cocktail'..... you know that nice one many people think is free when the waiter with the tray of nice drinks approaches you prior to sailaway and your just finding you way round.

'Welcome Aboard Cocktail Mam / Sir'...... Oh yes please - how wonderful .... how nice ....... 'Sign here please Mam / Sir'...... ouch too late you've taken a large sip through the straw..... $6.95 plus tip ..... make that times 2 as your better half has done likewise.....

Lol yes It's those flashing cups that entice you!!
