I think a massive outbreak on a seven day cruise where almost everyone is vaccinated and tested prior to boarding is small.   It hasn't happened yet.

I understand that if a passenger tests positive during the cruise, Celebrity will fly the passenger home on a private plane at their expense.   The passenger is not dumped on an island (like Crystal does).

Wear a mask indoors, regardless of whether it is a requirement.  And avoid indoor  crowded places if you can.

I'm pretty sure this is Royal Caribbean’s policy concerning the private plane and that Celebrity will pay your expenses if you need to be quarantined before testing negative and then will pay your expenses for air travel to your home destination.

  2. Both my wife and I are disappointed and upset. We both know that NCL doesn't control the weather but that doesn't change the fact that fact that months of planning and thousands of dollars have now been spent on what may turn out to be an incredibly disappointing trip. Are we going to try and make the best of it? Absolutely, but at this point we don't know anything about what the future holds for our trip. We haven't gone down to Guest Services, we haven't yelled and screamed at anyone. Currently we're sitting in our cabin licking our wounds.

To those that are saying, "this is what you get when you book during hurricane season" please take a moment to realize what a jerk you sound like. The cruise lines obviously offer itineraries during times of the year that they feel they can safely sail. I'm sure most of realize that nothing is certain, weather is unpredictable but to essentially say, "you're getting what you deserve" is pretty tactless. None of us asked for this to happen, we picked a sailing date that was offered to us, we didn't force NCL to offer October Bermuda dates.

My wife and I booked this trip ten months ago. Since then she's been laid off from her job, gone on unemployment and found a new job. Somehow we've still managed to make this trip happen despite her not having any vacation days at her new job, this entire week off for her is unpaid. We scrapped every penny we had and fought hard for months for this one week of fun in Bermuda and a few expensive days in NYC.

So yeah, it's a lot easier said than done to be super happy about the possibility of heading to Florida and the Bahamas at this point. I could have planned that trip on my own with a lot less effort and expense.

All that being said, please take a deep breath, sit back, have a cocktail and enjoy yourselves. You’re together, you’re safe, and people are going to wait on you for a week. As they say...sh.... happens. I know how disappointing this is, but it is. Next cruise will be a dream come true....I feel it.

  3. I don't believe anyone can disembark but I could be wrong. If you do disembark you will lose your money. NCL is within its rights to change the itinerary in circumstances such as this.

OH....I understand; however, if your wife is that upset, maybe it wouldn’t hurt to ask some questions. Maybe in these circumstances, they would offer you either a full refund or at least a partial refund.

  4. Too early to say ... I saw some upset folks when the Getaway was diverted due to hurricane, but nothing like what I saw today at customer service here on the Breakaway. I thought there were going to be fists flying. I don't know if it is the election, the economy, or something in the water, but there just seems to be a whole lot of anger in society lately.

OK, enough of this stuff ... I'm going to use my UBP!!

Have a wonderful time and keep your great attitude!!!

  5. I'm on this cruise right now. Never been to Bermuda and was excited to go. But oh well, just another reason to come back. I'm sure we will get some sort of credit. Plus I had insurance so I'm getting $500 for the port change.

This is what happens when you sail during hurricane season. Not going to stop me from having fun! :D

That’s the attitude of a true cruise lover!!! Have a wonderful time.

  6. Mine is throwing things. They could have told us before they closed the door an hour ago.

I’m a little confused. Is there any reason why you can’t get off the ship now since they haven’t sailed and won’t sail until tomorrow? I’d be willing to bet you would be compensated for choosing not to sail anywhere but Bermuda on this cruise even if it was a decision made by NCL in the interests of safety.

It was interesting to see our route and where we were at the moment. (they had this on a TV station in the room as well)

We could’ve spent more time in there looking everything over but Claire was not quite as interested as us. And there were others in there so we didn’t want to block their views of everything. The room is fairly small.

We separated again with plans to meet up for the pizza making at 3.

Claire and I headed to the room. Our tickets were there! Yay!!!!!

I forgot to mention that when I talked to Florentina earlier today that she apologized for everything that went on yesterday. This was a heartfelt one and it meant a lot to me now. She was honest and told me she had never had an issue like this happen before and she didn’t know what to do. I hope that NCL now trains her on what to do, but the fact that she apologized and told me she was in a panic did smooth things over with me much more.

I don’t remember why we went back to the room, but I know I needed to take an ibuprofen. I didn’t have a drink with me…and why would I drink water? LOL. I really don’t know why I didn’t drink the water, but the sparkling wine bottle was there so I decided to try to open it. Let’s just say I rarely drink this stuff and had no clue how to open it. I started twisting off the wire and Claire had her head right over it watching. I said to her “you better back off as I don’t know how to open this and for all I know this thing is going to go poof”. At that exact moment Claire slightly backed up and the cork just went flying with a lot of force. I asked Claire if she got hit and she said no, but it just missed her. She said she felt the wind of it pass her forehead. Knowing that no one got hurt we then laughed about it. I poured myself a glass and it was pretty tasty. I am not sure if this is “good” stuff or not, but I liked it.

I sipped on this all through the week. Skip never had any.

It was time to head to La Cucina for Family Pizza Making. Surprisingly, Skip was there waiting for us.

It filled up fast and soon there were no tables left.

I am loving every minute of this review. I’m in love with your family already.

  8. We are a large group soon to sail on the Constellation. Our TA reserved a couple of large tables every night in the MDR for our group at a specific time. My question is if some or all of us decide to use one of the other restaurants during our sailing, is this permitted by Celebrity? This is my first time on Celebrity.:)

  9. Maybe you should have read the terms for the Ultimate Beverage Package, they are easily found on the NCL Home Page, and actually I copied it for you

The Ultimate Beverage Package does not include room service, package sales, ship specific promotions or beer buckets, designated Super Premium brands (subject to change), bottled wine, mini bar purchases, bottled water

Next week we are boarding the Star for our 3rd cruise with the UBP, other 2 were on the Breakaway, and we have never had a problem getting a drink at any bar.

What I really find interesting is the fact that in years past people were complaining about how they felt hounded on the pool decks with servers for drinks, now that they aren't being hounded that's a problem too.

Have all my cruises been perfect no, in fact our worst was the Sky and we have never sailed her again, nor do I plan to but others love it. It's all a matter of opinion and NCL isn't for every cruiser but we love it. I've always addressed in writing upon my return any issues we have had and NCL has always responded and done right by me.

I leave on the Star next Sunday and cant wait to get onboard, 7 days of no cooking or cleaning!

Please post your review of the Star when you get back. I’ll be really interested to hear about your experience. I hope they have done complete turnaround since we disembarked for your sake. Bon Voyage.

  10. Just wondering what time people were able to disembark the ship in Tampa (Star).

We have a very early flight- not our choice but the flight was a gift. We can't afford to change it so we're crossing our fingers we'll make it, just trying to get a sense of exactly what time you were cleared to disembark? We plan to wake up at 5am to wait in line and be among the first off.

We didn’t dock until 8:00 am. Not sure an early flight would be advisable.

  11. I was on the phone with NCL today as well. We are sailing her on October 25th. The agent hadn’t heard anything about it, and as we were talking the memo came in. She said they probably will be able to fix this without dry docking her again, and all is expected to be fixed in a day. We’ll see.

  12. We're taking that cruise as well on the Star. We mostly sail with NCL and have never been disappointed. My friend has been on the Star, and she really liked it, so I'm assuming we'll have another great experience. Entertainment and food is always good on NCL. Pool looks interesting, although I'm too old for those huge slides, but if you have kids, they'll love it . I've never met a casino I didn't like. :D

  13. Hi, does anyone know if we can use an independent travel agent to book us on a Norwegian cruise through Casinos at Sea? I somehow think we'd get better service with a TA but I don't want to book without the benefits of being a CAS member.

  14. Locanda Vivaldi. Very nice small hotel right on the Grand Canal, a short walk from St. Marks. If you get a room with a view of the Grand Canal, it's fascinating -- as are the mechanized blackout shades which come down to block out light and noise in the morning! Very nice breakfast.

:) How did you get from the airport to the Locanda Vivaldi?
