  1. You are right it does not make sense. Have you tried calling Princess yourself to plead your case?

Sorry that you may have to leave Princess because of this.

You would think they have exceptions to this rule. :(

My Travel Agent has been in touch with Princess Cruises who have confirmed that providing a Debit/Credit card is NOT required when making a cash deposit when embarking. This is contrary to the e-mail I originally had from Princess, but it is good news. My grateful thanks to all those who made comments/suggestions to try and help me overcome the problem.

  2. I am 83 years of age, do not use Credit/Debit Cards, and I am an Elite member of Captains Circle having cruised a total of 158 days with Princess.

When arranging my On-Board I always deposit a large amount of cash that invariably pays for whatever I purchase. In fact, there is always a considerable amount of cash left in my account at the end of the cruise. However, quite by chance, I came upon a new rule which indicated that a Credit/Debit card must always be presented even when the passenger is depositing a large cash amount to cover "On Board" purchases. My Travel Agent has contacted Princess who confirm that a Credit/Debit card must always be produced.

I am, therefore, precluded from cruising with Princess and will simply have to transfer my business to Celebrity who are quite happy to accept cash without a Credit/Debit card.

I cannot see the logic of Princess Cruises logic in this matter.

  3. My wife and I would love to cruise on Britannia departing 4 Dec 2015. Unfortunately, we are elderly and do not use Credit/Debit cards. We have been cruising for over 20 years, and always deposit a large cash sum when arriving on board, and simply "top up" as required. P & O agree that we can pay in cash, but insist that we must also have a Credit/Debit card. We are, therefore, prevented from cruising with P & O. It seems that we will now simply book with Celebrity as they only require a cash sum to be deposited, and do not insist on a Credit/Debit card. Common sense obviously prevails!

  4. Since we are all still having issues with the X website and since the other thread saying the site is up is no longer accurate, I thought we should start a thread of the issues to better inform the X IT staff of what needs fixing.

Today, I still cannot do anything with my reservations other than get to the front page. When I attempt to drill down and check out shore excursions nothing happens. Nor can I access any other function such as on-line checkin, dining, etc. clicking on the buttons does nothing. Fortunately, I had already checked in before this debacle started.

Web Site is still showing "Site Under Maintenance". This has lasted about 7 days, and I still cannot complete my Cruise details. Come on Celebrity - get your act together.
