Thank you all!

A question for those experienced HAL cruisers….
Does the casino levy a surcharge on funds applied to the room?
Much appreciated!

I'm in a Lyft car, in line to board Connie. Been in line for over an hour barely moving.
People getting impatient and getting out of their ride vehicles and walking the rest of the way, suitcases in tow. Mid 80s, sun shining bright and hot.
I hope they get this fixed before these oldsters start dropping.

Madera1,
I am assuming you are in the Central Valley of Ca. We are from Sacramento area and agree about “warm” temps. We have only done a late November TA and are scheduled to do another one on Riviera leaving Rome Nov. 17. Our experience was fantastic, 5 days of 2-3’ waves and comfortable temperatures. If you have a balcony room, you will have a cashmere lap blanket if it is a bit cool as you are sitting out and sailing. Besides the pool deck area, a great place to enjoy the sun is on the Spa deck because the glass wall blocks the winds. Even if it is a bit cool, you have plenty of large pool towels to cover up with and let the sun warm you.
You should have a wonderful trip and enjoy your first Oceania experience. Keep reading the posts and learn about the wonderful dining and cooking and art classes to wile away your idle time. Oh yes, definitely hang out in Barista’s for coffees and teas and hot chocolate and lattes and evening wine and enjoy High Tea at 4:00 daily in Horizons. You will just have to tough it out! 🤪🛳👍

Hi Babes! My wife and I will be with you on Riviera, certainly hope we sail.
Be well.

As previously stated, about time. Oceania has been doing this for years.

Back to Herd Immunity. A nice piece in the NY Times on the impossible task of getting to COVID ZERO.

Just another nonsense, no fact, BS article about how COVID is unbeatable. Ridiculous.

I don't see how the cruise lines, (Big 3), can make a vaccine a requirement. They would lose a large portion of their customer base because kids under 16 are not being vaccinated. This would also mean cruising will not start until late this year. They maybe bankrupt by then.
They will certainly be bankrupt if they can’t begin sailing with at least a reduced customer base soon. Bring the kids back when it’s appropriate.

Are you suggesting that a cruise line will begin operating before everyone has had a legitimate opportunity to get vaccinated?

Exactly! Why not? Wouldn’t it be better for them to start up whenever there are enough “immune” passengers than to wait till everyone has had an opportunity? I don’t understand your trepidation.

Agree, but change ‘people’ to Media, who seem to be shaping our lives, making Leaders (and vanquished), winners & Losers, for or against at the moment with their 24/7 coverage. And not for the good I fear.
You sir, are a wise man.

Such a lovely thread! It seems we all can agree that Regent has pretty good food. And now we are wiser thanks to Flossie!

IMO they are keeping them up on the hope they actually can sail, however simply 'resetting' them to a 7 day itinerary in an environment where there is major uncertainty what ports will accept ships is quite a challenge.
On the other hand, if someone is ignorant (or hopeful?) enough to actually book that cruise with the impression it sails at all, in March, with a 10 day intinerary, is quite delusional 😀
That last sentence is a vivid reflection of the way the some of the people board have sunken into nastiness. Just a reflection of society at large though. Merry Christmas Jeremiah.

If I ever have this situation and it isn't very quickly fixed by the staff, I'm looking for a new cruise line.
-
X is still showing multiple cruises on their website on Connie out of Tampa that are 10 and 11 nights beginning in March. I chatted with a very nice lady (using the chat feature) and she told me that these cruises were still scheduled to sail as listed. We all know that at least, these cruises will be shortened to 7 nights as mandated and with all of the uncertainty surrounding the Constellation, these cruises will possibly not sail at all.
If they really intend to bring Connie to Tampa and begin sailing in March, why wouldn't they reset those cruises on the website to reflect the actual 7 day itinerary?

Do you think regular non-senior folks will be able to get in April/May?
Would love to have it before my cruise in June
Pretty certain it will be required before being allowed on board. I’m hearing that by “spring”, any American that wants it will be able to get it.

Certainly very soon, likely very limited. My thought is that if everything goes very well on start up, it will take 3 to 6 months before more normal, regularly scheduled cruises begin. Just one guy’s opinion...

Some you folks need to titrate the wine dosage a bit.

Well, there's nothing much new about cruising to talk about so the mods are being very generous.
I and others have likely mentioned that I can't imagine NO bars but I can easily picture no sitting or standing at bars. Table service only. I see it here and it seems fine. And maybe they'll have additional smaller bars.

We'd love to come to Canada but can't do that either. And that's how it should be. A lot of the US has proven themselves unworthy of travel.
Who gets to determine if one is “unworthy of travel”? Very curious....

I see elevators being a problem. I was at a resort hotel in Fla a couple of weeks ago and one of the social distance requirements was no more than 2 people could ride at a time. Families, of course were allowed. This hotel had only 2 elevators, 5 floors and I'm guessing less than 200 guests. Riding the elevator was an adventure.
On a ship with 16 elevators and 3,000 passengers and maybe 15 decks will be far more challenging.Add to that the average age difference in my example. Not sure exactly what the ave age on a ship would be but far older than the ave age at this Reddington Beach hotel. This means more walkers and scooters and fewer stair climbers.
I can't picture how this issue gets addressed.

Why is there another " Feature Thread " ( ??? ) on Buffets ?
Buffets are offered in land restaurants also, yet, I never saw any " Letters to the Editor " about them .
Big deal-- either go or don't go-- We all have a " story " about them and know what people are like whether on a ship or in a restaurant on land. Even when additional " precautions " are in place, " Slobs " with hygiene and food handling will still be " Slobs ".
How about a new topic, like , '' When am I getting MY refund " or " When will we be able to cruise again " ???
Or you could opt to not even open another tedious "buffet" thread and let the rest of us that see this thread as more pertinent now than ever, talk about this.

Wow you got a great deal. I reserved the Caribbean Princess for January and as I said I am waiting for a call back for the upgrade. I had to pay port charges and taxes plus $100 per person which is applied as a credit so my invoice was $500. Just thinking I bet the $200 I paid will hopefully go toward an upgrade. I hope I can get a minisuite for $200.
Full disclosure, I had 600 FCC from a cruise on Caribbean Princess this past Feb. The cruise was shortened 1 day due to norovirus.
In room entertainment…

First cruise on Odyssey in a few days, first RC trip in a couple of years. What can one expect for in room entertainment on the TV? I assume the 3 alphabet news channels, a couple of sports channels and such….. Any movies available?
Thank you in advance!
