  1. So excited that the Spirit is returning to our shores. She was our very first cruise out of NY and I can't wait to revisit her again in PC. I just hope she hasn't changed that much.

The Spirit will be in Port Canaveral and will be alternating the exact same itineraries as the Escape and Getaway. I like that because I like the Spirt, and I like leaving from PC.
  2. Thank you. I will definitely check the forum. So looking forward to this port as we have never been there before.

I am providing a link to the Cozumel Port of Call forum because I honestly do not know if there is a beach near the dock or not

I found some great tips from that forum. Cozumel is one of our Ports of Call on our upcoming cruise, and based on the tips from the board and some other research we opted to book a private beach excursion. There's so much to choose from though so I highly recommend that you check out the Cozumel board.

I hope you have a great cruise!

  3. Wow, thanks so much...I will definitely try this :)

We always pack a couple hats. Try putting some clothing in suitcase leaving hollowed out space for the hat to go in upside down. Fill the head opening area with underwear or something soft, then continue packing as usual. Hopefully you can put the two hats together and just do the process once.
  4. With the few cruises we have taken I have wanted to bring a wide brimmed sunhat or two but haven't because I can't figure out how to pack them without them getting crushed or out of shape. Can anyone offer a suggestion on how I can pack them? I know there are crushable hats but the ones I have are not like that. It's a dumb question but I have definite brain freeze about this. Thanks for any help you can give.

  5. Thank you so much for posting this. It is great that NCL is making an effort to help.

I am hoping this is OK to post here...If it's not (for some reason) I am sure the moderators will delete it.

    Norwegian Cruise Line

Everyone at Norwegian Cruise Line is truly saddened to hear of the significant devastation in the Philippines caused by Typhoon Haiyan. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and friends of our crew members from the Philippines who have been impacted.

We have been in constant contact with our partners in Manila, who are actively reaching out to contact crew members and their families located around Manila and outlying provinces. Crew members on board are being supported to help make contact with their families and we are making arrangements for those who need to return home to do so.

If you wish to contribute to Norwegian’s Support Fund for our Filipino crew members, we welcome your contributions, no matter how big or small. We are currently collecting funds throughout the company and throughout our fleet. Guests currently onboard our ships can make donations through the Guest Services Desk. Past guests who wish to contribute can send... a check (payable to Norwegian Cruise Line) to:

  6. Well, I hope this tour gives you a feeling for the Spirit. It is not for the Mega-Ship fans... but if you are a romantic cruiser, the size feels just right, in every way.

You really cannot truly feel the "Spirit" until you sail on her.

When you do, you'll know what we mean when we say there is just something special about her.

Our very first cruise ever was on the Spirit. Your photo tour brought back such wonderful memories of a truly beautiful ship. I have been hoping she would return to us here in NY but I don't think that is in her future. Thank you for the great pics :)

  7. Mike, this note is actually for Tracy.

Tracy, thank you so very much for allowing Mike this time away from you so that he might share your family's glorious vacation. As much as it was a wonderful vacation for you and your family it has been an incredible journey for all of us here. As I mentioned to Mike (Gee, I feel like I know you guys personally) we will never be the same again not just for the review but for the powerful love story behind it. Thank you again and big hugs to all of you. And, congratulations on your decision to become a RCMP.

  8. I'm glad it shows because we are very much in love. Can we sail off into the sunset instead. :D

You most certainly can SAIL off into the sunset...either way it is a beautiful thing. BTW, the second photo of your original wedding has such an old world European charm to it and is so lovely that I cannot find the words. I think that you and Tracy are probably the envy of every couple on CC in more ways than one. May you always be as blessed as you are today.

  9. The afternoon was spent packing, doing laundry and getting ready for the renewal.

The reception took place in the Betsy Ross Room, Atlantic Deck, next to the Lincoln Dining Room. All nine of us arrived at 3:55 p.m. Present in the room were Captain Piertuigi Barille, group coordinator Maserame, photographer Andrew and a server.

Maserame introduced us to the Captain, I was glad that he did not have a strong Italian accent, I was dreading having difficulty repeating my vows. Unfortunately the Captain could not stay for very long because he had to attend the Fun Farewell Celebration at 4:30 p.m. with his officers. The ceremony started within 5 minutes of getting there.

Tracy looked very beautiful in the dress I had envisioned her wearing and eventually helped to pick out. It’s unfortunate that what the photographs do not show, was that it was an open back dress.

Tracy loves to have everyone color coordinated for photographs. Mitchel and Grampy were wearing white. I was wearing black with a white shirt and I had insisted that we get a nice long black dress for Arielle ( she likes her dresses short), that only left Nanny and she had brought a nice black outfit.

The ceremony started with Grampy walking Tracy down the aisle accompanied by music to where Mitchel, Arielle and I were standing, in front of the Captain.

It was funny when she told him " I bet you never thought you’d be walking me down the aisle again, especially to the same man, hey Dad?".

After we exchanged our vows, I took the ring from inside a rose petal that Mitchel was proudly holding and placed it on her finger. Arielle and Grampy were crying. Believe it or not but Tracy and Mitchel swears that the Captain shed a few tears during the ceremony. At one point I got emotional saying my vows (choked up) but I got through it. Tracy always says that I’m a big softy like her dad.

Then we watched with pride as Arielle and Mitchel signed our renewal of marriage vows certificate. Following this was photographs with the captain and the cutting of the cake.

    .

This did it....I am now crying. How beautiful and how very romantic. My husband and I have been married 40 years and I wish we could have done something like this. Maybe on the 50th? You two look so happy and Tracy looks gorgeous standing next to her handsome husband who by the way reminds me of Yul Bryner.

  10. It looks like you have a lot of wonderful memories.

Yes, we lucked out, 1/2 day of rain at our last port and that's out of 21 days.:)

Why Baltimore and why January? Several reasons, Tracy as you may or may not know is a Paramedic, however, she's also a final candidate to become a Mountie. (I'm a Mountie)

It's a life long dream of her to become a police officer. She became a duel citizen last year and she applied and got accepted. She wanted to wait until the kids were older before going away.

Chances are she will be leaving for 6 months of training sometimes after January and thus no summer vacations next year. As a new recruit, you do not get any vacation time.

Therefore we wanted to go on one more cruise before she leaves. Baltimore is the closest port to where we live. In addition, it's during Christmas break and the kids will not miss any school.

When she goes away I will miss her dearly, by proposing and renewing our vows again was my way of showing her how much I love her and support her.

You two are the most loving couple I have ever encountered. I can't thank you enough for sharing your private lives with all of us here on CC. Congratulations to Tracy for her decision to become a Mountie....I picture you two on horses riding off into the sunset..Pardon me while I read on.
