  1. Congrats on winning the Princess cruise! Princess is my personal favourite line and a few things I love specific to Princess are:

-International Cafe - delicious baked goods, snacks, and open 24 hours

-Movies Under the Stars - they have popcorn and blankets

-Crown Grill - this is a specialty restaurant so you pay extra for this, but well worth it!

    -Pub lunch

    -Afternoon tea

If you are a coffee drinker (or enjoy specialty coffees/teas), the coffee card is well worth purchasing for your cruise.

  2. I'm curious about the Enclave on the Regal. What does it all include and what are the prices like? I'm not looking at getting any spa services done on the ship but the Enclave looks appealing for some relaxation time. Thanks!

  3. When Freedom comes back from drydock, does anyone know if the dining times in the main dining room will be 5:30 & 8:00pm or if it will be 6:00 & 8:30pm?

We were on a few different cruises last year including the Freedom. Some had the earlier sets of times... others had the later sets of times. I can't remember which set of times the dining was on the Freedom. Thanks.

I'll be on Freedom right after she comes out of dry dock and I have the 8pm traditional dining time.

  4. I really enjoyed Roatan when we visited. It is not the safest island, but we traveled with Victor Bodden tours which has a great reputation, and we felt safe. I would stick to a tour with this island and wouldn't venture out alone. We did an awesome ziplining and snorkeling tour and really enjoyed it. I find Roatan is not as touristy as many of the ports. It's still relatively undeveloped and is a beautiful green, lush island.

  5. I have been told in the past by the kids club staff that the tips are pooled. Also, they have regular salaried positions and are not part of the tipping pool.... this is not to discourage people from tipping, we always have, but just to point out that it's not a position "dependent" on tips to earn a wage. We typically tip about $20 per kid for the week.

Thank you! I'm glad to hear that the tips are pooled. :)

  6. Thank you both... that is exactly what I was wondering. If you tip the staff in the kid's club at the end of the cruise, do you know if it will be split amongst the kid's club staff? I know they will have a lot of great people working in the kid's club and I don't want to only end up tipping one person.

  7. We did the UDP this spring, our first time with NCL. Did not regret it for a minute. We ate at O'Sheehan's for breakfast and lunch the majority of the time and only did the buffet a couple of times for breakfast/lunch (and late at night for bed lunch).

Is O'Sheehan's a complimentary restaurant or one you pay extra for?

  8. Thanks for all the opinions and advice! I would be fine with just eating in the main dining rooms, grills, buffet, etc. but the guys seem to really want the Ultimate Dining so I think we're leaning toward that. I do like the fact that Illusionarium is included on the first night and there are a few restaurants that they just 'have to try' so it might end up worth out while for the ultimate dining.

  9. Great review! Thanks for sharing! We'll be on the Getaway in January and this will be our first cruise with NCL so looking forward to it! I am wondering about the Junkanoo Beach you mentioned in Nassau. How long is the walk to this beach and would it be a good one for swimming/snorkelling? We normally just go shopping in Nassau, but would love to explore a little further this time. Also, how long of a taxi ride is it from where the ship docks in St Thomas to Magen's Bay? Thanks!

  10. That can change within a couple of days. Just returned from 10 days on Oahu and Maui. Snorkeling was doable probably all but 2 or 3 days. Have been in Hawaii virtually all months of the year, and snorkeled in every month we have been there.

Yes, there were reports of whales off Lahaina, and Pacific Whale Foundation was starting whale watching trips on or about Nov 15, earliest ever.

Thanks for the info! Well, maybe we should keep some room in the luggage for our snorkeling gear then!

I am keeping my fingers crossed for some whale sightings. :)
