  1. Karen, I'm not sure when you are traveling or how long but here is some of my past experiences. I shipped an unopened wedge that was adjustable to differing positions in a moving box with other cruise items. It was a 99$ investment and I did not bring it back home (passed it on to a staff member and they were very thankful). This type of wedge combined with the HAL ones and pillows may be able to create chair like position on the bed. I plan on doing the same for my next long cruise. Also, if you can get something from his Dr. in writing that may go a long way. Companies have too try and accommodate handicaps and medical needs. Hope this can help you.

  2. I've taken a few solo cruises but never went to any of these events. I just figured they would be mostly single women looking for men. Not the scene I would be looking for.

Please don't let the idea that the women are all looking for men stop you. I am a single female who is looking for nothing more than some interesting people to meet. In my experience there are those female on the prowl but they are fairly far and few between. Most of the singles are pretty comfortable with being single and really just like to meet new friends. I for one like meeting anyone with an interesting and easy going way. Just a thought.

  3. I am on the 2017 world cruise and am boarding in San Diego. Two reasons; west coast resident that would rather fly to San Diego than Fort Lauderdale in the winter (possible missed connections, like what happened to many on my 2014 WC; and reason two is that I now have no family and this add-in is a holiday cruise that allows me some privacy to learn to cope. All in all it seemed like a good idea. HAL informed me that upon reaching FL I would have to disembark but all my stuff could stay in my stateroom. I figure I can use the FL time to make a quick run to store to grab anything I may have forgotten.

  4. Did a world cruise in 2014 and agree that $$ is the bet gift but I also would bring back edible treats such as candy or local specialty sweets for my cabin guys. They really liked getting a chocolate bar or the local nougat. I also gave them some cash with instructions to do something fun when I found out they were actually going to get off the ship. They took a tram ride and were so excited. Usually their extra money goes home to family, they get rare time off the ship and even more rare to have extra $$ to just blow on themselves.

  5. I have successfully had my luggage shipped to and from the HAL ship but I used suitcases. What I am trying to locate are the names of the hard sided, trunk like containers that some passengers on my last voyage used in place of suitcases. It looked like they were able to get a lot more into their containers than I could get into my suitcases, especially the odd shaped items.

  6. I am a firm believer in shipping my luggage to/from the ship for long cruises. My last world cruise I noticed some passengers shipping in containers rather than suitcases. Does anyone have any information on the types of trunks/containers.
