1. Be aware regardless of age you will have to pay for a 3rd person fare, Princess does not give any additional discounts for infants.

We have a family cruise scheduled for my inlaws 50th anniversary this summer, the fair for my 1 yoa granddaughter is $874 plus $125 port fees. Pretty outrageous if you ask me but my MIL wanted everyone to go.

I agree it's crazy, I guess their way or looking at it is they could sell that spot to an adult that would bring in more revenue buying things onboard.

  2. Thanks, I've booked several cruises for my gf (whose daughter was about 8 months old when they took the cruise) so I know how expensive it can be.

I have people I can trust to leave the baby with, but after 6 years of trying I doubt I'll be letting my little one out of my sight for more then a night out.

I'm waiting to do anything cause you never know. It's still very early. I have until Dec 8th to cancel.

  3. I just booked a cruise a few weeks ago for next February. I've since found out I'm pregnant. I'm not quite sure wether we're cancelling or if we're going to take the baby. I'm just wondering if we can be in a two person cabin with the baby or would we have to change cabins. We got an awesome aft balcony cabin that I really don't want to give up. Anyone who's travelled with a baby have the answer to this question. The baby will only be around 4 months at the time.

  4. Congrats!!! What a blessing!!!! That is the only reason I would cancel a cruise, how exciting!! I wish you the best and pray it all goes well for you!! Keep us posted!!

Thanks, we've been trying for a long time. It's really funny cause as I was booking the cruise I thought a year is a long ways away. I could get pregnant before the cruise. I was already pregnant when I booked the cruise and didn't know. We're thrilled and nervous at the same time.

  5. CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!! :D That is wonderful news please continue to chat with us as keeping a healthy life during pregnancy is a good thing for you and baby as well as recovery.

Thanks, I will still be around. I'm still wanting to be active but I'm a little nervous after my previous miscarriage. I'm diabetic so I'll definitely be watching what I eat. I think my weight loss helped, which makes all the sacrifices worth it!

  6. I'm guessing my weight loss journey has come to a pleasant but unexpected end. My future cruise looks like it's coming to an end as well. I just found out I'm 5-6 weeks pregnant. I'm thrilled since we've been trying now for 6 1/2 years. I won't be loosing any weight but I'll still be eating healthy. I've had one mis-carriage last year so I won't feel secure until I hit the 12 week mark. I'm not cancelling my cruise just yet, I don't think I'll want to travel with a new baby but I have until Dec 8th to cancel.

  8. :D Some women told me she didn't want to brag ... but had been on five cruises so if I had any questions to ask her.

I just said "Thank You" and did not tell her I'd been on 80+ cruises and had been cruising for 52 years. Sort of though it was nice of her to want to help those new to cruising ... but assuming too much about anyone was sort of funny. :D

You should have told her just to see the look on her face!

  9. I was going somewhere on formal night and i was in my tux. The elevator came and there was just one lady aboard. The doors closed and we started moving. She looked at me and broke out in a big smile and said "you look sooooo handsome!!!"

I just smiled back....but of course nobody believes me.....

Lol I believe you! Luckily my hubby was standing right beside me when the man approached me, otherwise I don't know if he would believe me either!

  10. It wasn't funny but it made my day. I was walking to meet my friend who was by the pool. This random lady came over to me to ask me if I'd seen my pictures? I kinda gave her a funny look and said umm not yet, she then told me my pictures were beautiful and I had to see them! I don't get random compliments often so I was pretty happy. My pictures were pretty nice, mostly cause the sombrero I put on exactly matched my shirt.

On my 2nd cruise I was standing by the elevator with my hubby and this older gentleman came up to me to tell me I looked beautiful. I couldn't stop smiling! It made my evening!

Cruising is good for my ego lol!

  11. We have always wanted to try an aft balcony. We were recently upgraded to a mini suite on our Pacific Coastal cruise. There is one aft balcony left E730 on Grand. Would you try and move over to that last aft balcony? Or stay with the mini suite on Dolphin deck?

I've never been in a mini or an aft cabin. That would be a tough one cause a mini would be nice but I can't wait to be in an aft cabin.

  12. Wow, lots of nice losses on here. Congrats to all.

Bahama Mama, I think I found your cold. I had a headcold last week that turned into Bronchitis this week. No excuses, but I only got in 2 workouts and even they were pretty pathetic as I felt so lousy.

Weigh-in yesterday, I was up .6 of a pound. As mentioned above, not sure how one can gain when in bed sick, but it happeded. I had been eating a lot of Cambell's Chicken Noodle soup which made me feel better but is also loaded with sodium, so no clue.

I'm still not at 100%, but will just keep on keeping on.

*** just a note, but I must be losing inches even though the scale is not budging too much. I have found that my undies, TMI I know, are now too big. They want to slip down. While at Walmart yesterday, I grabbed a few pairs in a smaller size. So woo-hoo for the small things. :D

Who ever said the last 10 lbs were the hardest was right-on.

    Wishing everyone a great weekend,

    Cari H.

    .

It's funny that you mention the undies. I was so upset when I gained weight that I had to go up a size. I felt awesome when I had to go back down to my regular size last month. It really is the small things!

  13. What I have seen happen multiple times is that when the latecomers do show up and order, service for the rest of the table slows down (stops actually) until the latecomers have caught up to the point in the meal the ontime people are at.

That isn't very fair! Usually there's something we want to catch after dinner and if we were on time we shouldn't be delayed because others weren't. One of my pet peeves is punctuality. I'm always early for everything cause I hate being late.

  14. You can use it for FREE - you just have to do your own daily checking.

The credits only cost $1.00 US and there is a discount if you buy 10 or more.

    What is your time worth;)

    Thanks!

  15. Do a Google search for "price alert cruise", choose the one that is a net.

The owner of the site lives in Canada. The alerts show US $, Canadian $, plus veterans and other categories if applicable for that cruise line.

The only one that showed up as a net wants me to buy credits. :(

    Cruise, Fish.

  16.
in fact i just did a cruise on Princess in February to test the product. i thought the product was pretty good in many areas, superior in others, and down right awful in a few limited areas that could be corrected if Princess management would elevate their demographic sights. and sorry but i don't think carrying everything but the family goat aboard is the mark of a cruise, but rather the demographics of a cattle boat crossing. Carnival fills that niche. check the other cruise line boards, they don't obsess about carrying on anything.

you will all be happy to know that i won't return to Princess but you might also want to know that better lines are not much more expensive when you factor in the beverage, tips, etc. costs.

and giving the devil its due, the food was good, the embark/debark processes world class, the decor well maintained, our mini was great except the open balcony, the bars were great and under used probably because of the cost/demographic. on the other hand the specialty restaurants were over priced and mediocre, the entertainment was abundant but low quality, and the drink and wine prices much too high. loved the international cafe and wheelhouse bar. hated the casino because of the smoking policy.

enjoy your future cruises, on whatever lines.
Princess is perfect for me. I don't drink so why would I pay higher end prices for something I'm not going to use anyway. I also don't eat in specialty restaurants. Just because we don't cruise high end doesn't mean it's not cruising. When I go out of town I take water with me, why wouldn't I take it on the ship? If that's not what you choose to do then why comment on it? It has no impact on you. You were clearly just being a snob. Enjoy your "High end" cruising, I'll stick to Princess if going high end means I have to put up snobby people!
  17. I booked my next cruise way in advance, it's my first time doing this as we usually only book a month or two ahead of time. I'm in Canada but when I tried to use my FCC the Princess TA said I need to book in US since my FCC was in US. He could have converted it to Canadian but surprisingly even with the exchange rate right now it works out to be cheaper. Who knows if that will be the case come final payment time. Right now it's close to $200 cheaper over all.

My question is when I search Princess my prices show up as Canadian, does anyone know how I can check prices in US? If not, if the price in Canadian drops that should mean the price in US drops? It would make sense that they both would drop at the same time but I'd just like to get some input from others who have been in this situation.

I don't know if it's going to drop or not but final payment isn't until Dec 8 so I'm going to be checking as much as possible. Thanks for the input :)

  18. I love that show too! If we were driving I'm sure I'd plan that out too. Unfortunately the only cruise port we could drive to is Vancouver and that's still 1580 km (980 miles) away from us. One of these days we'll take an Alaskan cruise and maybe drive, it would take my hubby a lot of convincing to get me in the truck for that long! How long is your drive Chel?
