  1. Royal Caribbean doesn't even allow kids in Specialty Restaurants. I have older teens and have to sneak them in like they are doing me a big favor.

    Would you rather that?

I like the idea of NCL allowing kids but charging full price. You better really want to have your young child dine with you because you are paying full price for their meal. I think it encourages the best behaved kids in the venues, the kids that want to be eating there. If parents know their kids won't eat a thing and will be difficult to keep contained, they will think twice before paying full price.

My son (10 at the time) was allowed in two specialty restaurants on the Navigator of the Seas. No issue at all.

  2. Thank you so much for your review! We are sailing on the Dawn next March in a Family Suite (no balcony) and an inside cabin across the hall. We are not sure what to expect so I have been combing the cruise critic boards. Your post has been the most helpful by far! Thank you!

  3. Hi,

We are sailing in a suite next March for the first time and newcomers to NCL (my two NCL cruises were charters).

I read here that dining reservations can be made 90 days head of time but I also read about the concierge making dining reservations for suite guests. Which is the best way to go? In advance or with the concierge? It's a little confusing. We will have the UDP and most likely take advantage of it for dinner each and every night.

    Thank you!

  4. I've done both the Rhapsody of the Seas and the Golden Princess...both round trip from Seattle and with the Tracy Arm itinerary. Princess was SUPERIOR to RCCL in EVERY possible category. Both times we were able to get very close to Sawyer Glacier. It was awesome.

We are going this summer on the Crown Princess with the Glacier Bay itinerary. I don't think I would sail to Alaska on RCCL again...

    Good Luck!

  5. I've done both the Rhapsody of the Seas and the Golden Princess...both round trip from Seattle and with the Tracy Arm itinerary. Princess was SUPERIOR to RCCL in EVERY possible category. We are looking into maybe going again next summer and aren't even considering RCCL. I think we've narrowed it down to Princess or Celebrity this time around.

  6. I wish Carnival would hurry up!

I've already priced out a trip on Princess that we'll take unless Carnival is drastically cheaper and has the ports I want for 2015. We've never cruised on anything else though, so it kind of feels like we're cheating.

Our Princess Alaskan cruise is probably my favorite cruise to date...you won't be disappointed if you end up with Princess.

  7. I have been to Alaska on both RCCL and Princess. We have a family of 13 trying to plan a vacation together and we were hoping that the Carnival cruise to Alaska was more affordable than the others we have priced (Celebrity, HAL, and Princess). I'm not anxious to do RCCL again to Alaska as I was far from impressed.

You don't think Carnival would be more affordable then Princess or HAL?

  8. Actually, anyone can walk if they want but the t-shirts cost $10 each. That's where the fund raising happens. You can also buy a t-shirt and not walk at all.

We did this event on the Navigator last month and it was a highlight for me. It was the "Oil Spill - almost didn't go anywhere - finally went to Cozumel" cruise. :)

We walked with the Captain and many others. Great event.

  9. Has anyone had or seen a table for 12 in the MDR on the Oasis? Travel agent says we can only have 2 tables of 6. It is 6 couples cruising and we really wanted to all eat together each night.

    Thanks!!!!

We had a table for 13 on the Oasis in the summer of 2012. It's definitely possible.

    Good luck!

  10. We were on the Navigator 3/23/14 and I am pretty sure the 8x10's were $29.99. I refused to spend that on one photo and I ALWAYS buy the photos.

My mom asked if they could make smaller sized copies and they said no.

If the photos had been $22 or even $25 I would have bought one but $30 for one photo seemed unreasonable to me.
