Least favourite, the hotel beach day in Puerto Plata that we didn’t go on…we were in the Haven on the Encore, and the concierge wouldn’t let us book it, basically said (without actually saying it straight out) it was terrible and the place was a dump.  🙂  We loved the mudbug excursion we booked there instead.

I guess we’ve been lucky, we enjoyed the vast majority of the excursions we’ve booked over the years.  There’s been a few that we maybe wouldn’t do a second time, but I can’t remember any where we actually had to complain about it to the shore excursions folks afterwards.

Would you mind sharing the name of the hotel? I was looking at one for our November cruise, to the the “All inclusive Day Pass by Emotions” in Puerto plata. Anyone have any experience with this all inclusive beach hotel… through NCL?

  2. Yes many changes without any dated notification of the revisions.

It appears (from Below attachment) ,that they are no longer testing at pier (12 and over,US Citizen, for Bahamas) ,with your proof of vaccinations and 48 hour negative Covid test. States that those 12 and under must still submit to the pre embarkation testing  ( with their 3 day negative Covid test in hand).

Can anyone confirm? May be a change due to the CSO’s expiration on the 15th?

US residents do not need insurance.

Thank You and I agree that it does say that the Covid insurance is only needed if non US residents... but they contradict this in my e-cruise ticket. See my post # 5 above and the contents in "main steps for embarkation " #4. My concern is that once at the pier,  they may enforce this at will, without recourse if they point to this caveat.

  4. Really confusing! One page of e ticket says recommended and then next page, as above, looks like required! Customer service was very sweet but apparently not confident in her response of " Don't think you need it". Was that an ? or !

Don't want to get to the port, having made it through all the other hoops we met jump through to travel these days, only to find out they are now enforcing this insurance🙄

  5. Help Please! Have I missed this change ?

Finally able to obtain my e cruise ticket for end of month 4 nighter, on Meraviglia ,out of port Canaveral.

BUT……Under “Main steps for Embarkation” page 15 ,  #4 states that I have ….proof of a travel protection plan with coverage for Covid -19.

I thought this was just for travel outside of US and/or non US citizens? Has this requirement changed recently?

I had some transportation issues getting from Orlando to Port Canaveral so I was hungry and cranky when I got to this ship lol.  I dropped some stuff off in my room and headed straight to the buffet for something to eat, unfortunately I didn’t check anywhere else.

We will be probably traveling from our overnight hotel in Orlando to port Canaveral, the next morning , end of January .  Mind if I ask what the issue was? Thinking I should perhaps stay near the port instead?

I have sailed out of Canaveral several times.  If you don't have a rental car, there is very little to do, and it can be difficult to find a place to eat.  Nothing is really walkable.  I have stayed twice at Radisson at the Port, and I do not recommend that one.  It is very difficult to navigate due to the fact that there are very few elevators and those they have are inconvenient-not generally a problem because I like to take the stairs, but it is an issue with luggage.

We are sailing on Meraviglia on January 2.  I love Disney World, although I don't want to go to the parks before our trip due to crowds.  I found a great rate for one night at the Swan hotel.  Our plan is to uber from the airport to the hotel.  After we check in, we will use Disney transportation to visit several hotel lobbies to view the Christmas decorations, which supposedly remain up until January 2.  I also hope to be able to see the fireworks from somewhere.  (I think checking out the lobbies might be fun even if they aren't decorated) We have a car service picking us up at the Swan the next morning to take us to the port.

Thank You for your input! We are big fans of Disney as well! Although we are not planning to visit the parks for one day, it would be nice to stay in the area. I just worry about getting to the port the next day. Which car service do you use and have they been reliable. The lobbies at Disney are amazing during Christmas, we especially Love the Gingerbread house at the Grand Floridian.

Cheers! Hope you have a wonderful trip!

GoPortCanaveral has packages that include hotels and transportation to / from the airport, hotel & ship. They offer hotel options at multiple price points  in Orlando & Cocoa Beach near the port. You may be able to book the options individually a little cheaper, but the convenience of having everything in one package is nice.  Note that GoPort has had a policy of offering a future credit rather than a refund if your cruise is canceled.

Thank You, Great suggestions! Several options here! Should start with deciding on Orlando or Cocoa beach and go from there.

  9. I know there is a port board BUT ….since this is so close, would like MCS cruisers input.

Flying into Orlando the day before and leaving on the meraviglia the next day,  from Port Canaveral, for our first Yacht club experience. We have only cruised from Miami in the past. It’s an Early morning flight , so will have the whole day. Would really appreciate any input as to Hotels (Orlando or Canaveral), transfer options and restaurants. We are celebrating our milestone birthdays and anniversary from 2020. Very excited for this opportunity… as our NCL Encore cruise in November, was cancelled by NCL ,5 days before the cruise(weewaa).

Talked to a couple of crew…..2 more Alaska sailings after this one.  Then, off to the Caribbean!

That’s good to hear! We are on the Nov. 14th Encore cruise and at the time of booking, it was the first Caribbean sailing. Would Love to get some feedback, regarding shows, ports and happenings , prior to sailing! Can anyone that is booked earlier confirm the sailings?

Beautiful photos! Thanks for taking the time to share, I may be closer to convincing my husband to try a cruise to Alaska.
