  1. Just returned from the 3 day. The ship is pretty and new but was not a WOW for me. Felt like I was on the Epic again. The grotto was the coolest thing. And DO NOT MISS Million Dollar Quartet. So awesome ! After Midnight had great singers but too much dancing for me. Margaritaville did not have the atmosphere I thought it would have. Food and drinks were good. I wish NCL had movies under the stars like other lines. The Atrium is just too noisy. Ate at Cagneys on the waterfront. Very nice. Daughter ate atFood Republic and said it was best food she's had on a ship. We had a 10:15 flight. Got off the ship at 7:40 and was at the airport at 8:05. The ship ride was one of the smoothest I've ever had. Couldn't even tell it was moving. We had a balcony on deck 12 forward.

As for the urban comment, there was a group of 800 "urban" people onboard from a travel club who were really having a good time.

  2. I just wanted to share my experience with the tour conductor credit I just got. Booked 8 cabins under the BOGO sale on the Allure for 2 0 15. 4 balconies and 4 insides. I thought they would average the base rates for the insides as the credit.

Instead, they took the lowest rate of the half price, deducted the processing fee and gave me $299 as a credit. One person had a base rate of $411, everyone else had base rate of over $600. Plus the rates went up so high that the people booking the insides are paying the same price as my balcony even with half off. So disappointed.

  3. We did the 12 Day Rome and the Vatican Cruisetour. We spent 4 days in Rome with Gate1. We had half day tours with a guide and afternoons free. We saw most of Rome and really enjoyed it. Beware of the street vendors.

We will be doing the land based with Gate1 also. Did you think it was worth the extra money? We thought it might be a bit more but decided it would be easier than trying to book our own hotel and transfers and private tours. What hotel did you stay in? I would like a little more info on your land based tours. What kind of transportation did they use? What did you get to see? Did you have to pre purchase tickets for the sites? Any info will be great, I have been waiting for someone to return so I can drive them crazy with questions:o

I thought it was well worth the money. We stayed at the Grand Palatino hotel. Centrally located e d with shops and restaurants all around. Peter in Chains church right across the street. Walking distance to the Colosseum. We had a guide with us at all times. She took us on a walking tour with gelato stop the first evening after the welcome reception. Gate 1 Took care of all transfers in very nice comfortable, modern tour buses. We walked to the Colosseum and Roman Forum. Did not have to stand in line to get in. Tickets were included.

Tour lasted half day. Rest of day was free time. We went to Trevi fountain and dinner. The next day we went to the Vatican. Again our guide was with us the whole time. Visited the Vatican museum, St Peter's Basilica and the Sistine Chapel. We always had plenty of time for shopping. That night we went to Piazza Navona for dinner and the Spanish ste p s on our own. Some others did an optional dinner and show thru Gate1. The last day we had morning free and then we're transported to the port on the tour bus. So easy. I highly recommend Gate1 and p l an to use them next year for my trip to London and Paris.

    greetings

    thomas

Yes there was a white hot party but we missed it because we were at the Blue Man show which lasted 2 hours. They moved the party inside because of the wind. I did not care for the Blue Men

  5. That's such great information, thank you! We are doing the same winery tour in Palma and ships tours in all our other ports too. We board in Barcelona and are spending the day before there touring . Leave on Friday, can't wait!

The wine tasting was so much fun! They were NOT stingy with the wine - lol! The reason we fell behind was because so many people were buying stuff. In addition to wine they make olive oil and flavored sea salt. And the cathedral in Palma is beautiful. Just wish we could have gone in but it was closed.

  6. I loved the Epic. She is big and beautiful but more like a hotel than a ship as you can't see water unless you go up on the pool decks. The weather was quite cool so I didn't spend a lot of time there. I would have lived to spend more time at Spice h2o but it was too cold. I think this was one of the smoothest rides I have ever had on a ship. We had cabin 12096 with a larger balcony. Btw I didn't learn about the extra storage in the sofa back and drawers under the sofa until later in the cruise. My dtr and some others in our group had studios and they loved them. So cute and comfy and they loved the coffee and cookies in the lounge. We ate breakfast in the buffet because of the early excursion times. Lunch at O'sheehans - great wings, fish and chips, pot pies and strawberry pound cake. We had my retirement dinner at Cagney's. Very nice. The rest of the time we ate at Taste and Manhattan room. Had a service problem at Taste but the maître de apologized and paid for our wine. We didn't go back. My dtr did the Cirque show and resale enjoyed it. We had our muster drill there and it felt really small and claustrophobic to me. We had our own wacky pants night where we all wore those soft printed pants and had dinner and bowling at O'sheehans. Such fun! Really enjoyed Legends. Shakira was good. Diana Ross was very good. Prince was Amazing! The Supreme Dreamgirls in Headline were beautiful and talented. Everyone was up dancing at the end. Blue Man was about the most stupid thing I have ever seen. Made us miss the White Hot party. Fat Cats blues band was really good but there were few people there. The Manhattan band played in the Atrium most nights. You could sit upstairs in O'sheehans and see them. Nice.

Since we embarked in Rome getting on and off the ship was easy. We used RomeCabs. We got off the ship at 7. Our luggage was waiting (except for my dtr but they found it). Our pick up time was 8 but he was there at 7:30. No customs to go thru at the port and we were at the airport before 9. Great trip!

  7. We did the 12 Day Rome and the Vatican Cruisetour. We spent 4 days in Rome with Gate1. We had half day tours with a guide and afternoons free. We saw most of Rome and really enjoyed it. Beware of the street vendors. They are very aggressive. On the cruise we booked all excursions thru NCL. All were half days tours except Bacelona which was 7 hours. In Livorno we did Pisa and Trolley Ride which was very enjoyable. Really enjoyed the Leaning Tower and the Cathedral plus plenty of time for shopping. In Cannes we did Nice and the little Train. It started off really nice but because of the heavy traffic getting to Nice the last part of the tour was rushed and we did not get to spend time at the flower market. In Palma we did Local Wines and Panarama. The winery tour and wine tasting party was awesome as was the tour of Palma but once again we ran out of time and there was no time for shopping. In Barcelona we did the Best of Barcelona and Gaudi. This was my favorite tour. Along with a tour of Barcelona and the Spanish Village we toured La Sagrada Familia. Simply amazing! And we had plenty of time for shopping. We cancelled our last tour in Naples and did the HoHo bus instead. Loved it. We did both lines and went all the way up the coast to the top of Posillipo with beautiful views over Naples and Mt Vesuvius. Part of our group did the Leisurely Sorrento tour and really enjoyed it.

  8. We just returned from a western Med cruise on the Epic. We used RomeCabs for our transfer and they were excellent. Our pick up time was 8:00 but he got there at 7:30 which was great because we were off the ship by 7:15 and thought we were going to have to stand outside waiting for 45 minutes. We were at the airport before 8:30. Could have taken an earlier flight if I had known there was not customs to go through.Another group of our friends used them for tours of Rome before the cruise and were really pleased. I booked back in February I think and didn't hear back from them again. But they were right there on time. The driver even called the office to make sure our group were going to the right terminal since one of us had a different flight. Our fee was $200 for eight people.

  9. I called back this morning at 7:30 (no wait) and the agent fixed the problem with the C&A discount. He couldn't figure out at first why it didn't work and told me to call back in 15 minutes after that dept opened. When I called back it had already been fixed. So the agent my friend talked to yesterday didn't know what she was talking about. I got a D1 balcony for $1043 per person and a M inside for $732 per person.

  10. I received quotes yesterday for the Allure which included the BOGOHO discount plus C&A discount. My friend also received same quote. When she called back to book she was told you can't have the C&A discount with the BOGOHO sale. I tried to get thru last nigh but stayed on hold for an hour and a half and finally gave up. Any one else have this happen? Should I push the issue since I have a written quote?
