The hostess or host checks me in at the door (PRINCESS). It's always "1 to share" at dinner but I prefer a solo table by the window at lunch. And I stop to say "hi" to my HW (food allergies) if I see him. He comes by shortly afterwards so I can order the next day's food. Unfortunately if I book same night on the MC App then I'm assigned to that weird dining room at the far back of the ship, deck 6, with other solos. Prefer off the piazza so I can go straight from Vines to dinner

So basically the 8/15/21 & 12/9/21 had little change from pre-covid. I did wear my mask until I sat down

Did they allow you to share a table?

  2. I just spent a week in Nassau w college girlfriends. We all had a blast. We were often stopped by locals and asked if we were enjoying ourselves and wishing us a nice stay.  We rode the local bus back and forth to beaches and into town.  They were super fun and friendly.  What’s not to like?  I’ve been there on cruise stops too.  I don’t understand the whole not getting off the ship thing.  Boggles my mind.

Ok before any negative nannies get on here, I've looked and haven't found the answer. My wife and I are new to Carnival and have only cruised once(RCCL). We're getting the cheers package. I understand the 15 drink limit and I know why they do it($), so all those who call me an alcoholic(I'm not, they go to meetings) or judge me get your nose out of the air. On our Royal cruise I hit 15 drinks and I wasn't remotely hammered. Had my first drink at 9 had 4 before lunch, after lunch had 5 more before dinner. Had 2 drinks at dinner with my meal, had 3 more during activities then went to the casino and had 4 more playing blackjack. So that's 18 for those that aren't great at math(I'm with you had to use my fingers, I wrote this down because we chose Royal because of the drink limit. only reason I knew how many drinks I had), and I had a good consistent buzz all day, never plastered. Full disclosure I'm 6' and 230lbs.

Now my question can I drink 13 or 14 drinks and pay with my S&S card for 2 or 3 then buy the last one or 2 with my cheers program? How would that work? Thanks for any answers/feedback.

That’s a genius question.  Smart to pay for a few less expensive drinks and save Cheers for more expensive after dinner liquors.

  4. Any of the beach clubs with the water toys - Sanchos, Playa Mia, Paradise Beach - will be good for your teens. It mostly depends upon if you want All-inclusive (food/drinks) or not.

All of the tourist spots n Coz use purified water for ice and cooking -- never had a problem with the ice. but there might have been some bad lime juice in that 12th margarita that made me feel so bad.

OMG, You just made me laugh so hard I almost dropped my 1st margarita!

  5. Has anyone looked into taxi cost from Falmouth to Jewel Runaway Bay? Curious if we could get there more cost effectively with a group in a cab?

Last time I reserved with resort for a day, I was annoyed with being seriously delayed by late arrivals for another resort. If I could get the resort day pass through the hotel, and take a cab, and come out even for three of us, I would be thrilled.

  6. I think we have decided to do Dr. Cave Beach during our trip to Montego Bay. I just have some clarifying questions. There will be six of us. 2 adults, and a 9, 7, 5, and 2 year old.

Taxi's are a van situation and are per person, correct? And I think the price is $5 per person from Montego Bay to Dr. Cave Beach, right? Do we need to also figure in a tip? Just trying to plan our cash need.

And entrance into Dr. Cave Beach is $6 a person, right? Any discount for kids?

I think umbrellas and beach chairs are also for rent, but we don't have to, right? We can just sit on the sand or on a towel, right?

Also, I know there is food to buy, but has anyone brought snacks in? Are they allowed? I am just thinking something sealed like a few granola bars to hold my boys over between meals.

I am also thinking of bringing some sand toys, shovels, pails, maybe a small blow up beach ball. Are things like this allowed?

Thanks, there is a lot of information about Dr. Cave beach, but most are for two people.

I don't know the cab fare from Montego Bay, but I strongly suggest you bring some snacks and water bottles. It was so crowded the day we were there last January that we could not get service at either the bar or restaurant in the afternoon. I'm pretty sure they would not notice anything in a tote bag. I maybe wouldn't bring in a cooler with wheels.

You don't have to rent anything. I'm sure sand toys etc., are fine. I don't recall a discount for my grandson.

  7. Do you roughly remember the cost per person? Also how did it work did the same taxi bring you back? Did and the group have to decide on a mutually agreeable time to return to the ship?

It was $20 per person in January. We had the same mini van waiting for us for the return and paid when we arrived back in port, I believe. It worked out really well for us as the whole van decided we were good for the same time and we had a full day.

  8. At Chankanaab (sp?) in Cozumel, I kept my prescription sunglasses on the whole time. The do warn you that it's possible to lose them. We always had our heads above water as we were wearing life vests and I was fine. Maybe attach them to a cord meant for glasses. You should be just fine.

  9. I tried to book both Giovanni's and Chops online for our cruise next weekend. I am bringing my 10 year old grandson. The price was not adjusted for his age although that info is all available with my booking.

Should I go ahead and book and hope they will credit back the difference, or wait and book when we are onboard? Iwould like to take advantage of the discounts. Would I still receive them if I don't make reservations before boarding? Most good times are already filled up.

    Thanks!

Ah! Never mind!! I went back and checked the fine print. I am cut off from cocktails!

  11. Even though I am not a huge fan of the Bahamas, I would be quite upset if I missed out on it on an upcoming cruise.

For some people, visiting the Caribbean and/or Bahamas is a lifetime aspiration - it's something a lot of people work for. Also, I regularly hear something like "If it's good enough for the celebrities, there has to be something there worth going for."

I try and use this mentality every time I go on vacation / get off the ship in certain ports. We are very lucky really.

I like your comment. It's also important for cruisers to realize that to color the Bahamas with just Nassau or Freeport as your point of reference is extremely sad. The beaches in the Out Islands are to die for and far exceed what the big cruise stop islands have to offer.

However, Nassau's Paradise Island beach is a lovely place to spend an afternoon, although it may be crowded, it gives someone on a cruise their first taste of the beauty beyond the popular islands. The Out Islands offer miles of gorgeous beaches all to yourself. I keep wishing for an excursion that could take me to nearby Eleuthera or Harbour Island and get me back to the ship on time!

  12. I always liked the surprise of seeing what's on the menus when you sit down for dinner.

I cannot understand why some over-plan every detail of a vacation.

All the way down to scouring the menus and figuring out what they will order for dinner every night, months ahead of time......

I totally get what you are saying, and I too love the surprise, however I don't want to miss a night in the MDR when there is something I love. Also, trusting my server is almost always the way to go. When I ask him what he recommends I am never disappointed.

Such terrible worries we have! LOL!

  13. I can't find any information on transportation to and from here. Is it included in the price? On the previous website, it ask if you wanted them to provide transportation and you could add it to the check out, but nothing like that is on here that I can find.

Transfers are included. Click on the "What's included tab". Per my email from them, they leave exactly 45 minutes after ship docks and returns 2 hours before departure.

I hope to book it today. Had an issue with the website so I need to call.

  14. I just tried to book Hilton Rose Hall thru Resortsforaday. The excursion came up as "not available" for the date I needed. (12/25) My guess is that RCCL has now put a kabash on that site selling non-cruise ship excursions on the day an RCCL ship is in port. No way I am spending $139 pp for an excursion I could have gotten for $94 pp. Will now look for an alternative....

Got an email yesterday from Resort for a Day. Rose Hall is still available through them for $94 pp on my cruise the week before. Maybe Christmas is a blackout for them? I would call Resorts for a Day directly.

BTW, Jamaica for a Day site forwards now to Resorts for a Day. The original site of Jamaica for a Day with the tons of info is gone.
