  1. I've really been enjoying your posts and am envious of the warm weather you've been experiencing! Your posts have been a great introduction to the Ryndam for us - we'll be sailing on her on April 6 for a transatlantic and then again in June for a trip to Norway's North Cape. Thanks so much for helping us to get orientated before we actually board! Now I want to do your cruise too!:D

  2. Thanks for the information. It didn't look like a house wine was offered by the glass on the wine menu. I'm good with either a Merlot or Cab. - both sound good to me!

House Merlot & House Cabernet Sauvignon are under $7. They're by Vina Santa Carolina of Chile. I've seen people post that those wines are no good, but the wine magazines I read give them mid to upper 80s on a 100 point scale. That equates to Good to Very Good. The Cabernet has been the better of the two, ratings wise.
  3. From your last post, it looks like we won't be able to order 'wine by the glass' from the Beverage Card we were given as a perk for our cruise later this Spring. With the only wine under $7.00 being a white wine, red wine lovers will be left out in the cold! At least my husband will be able to get a beer!

Loving your posts, and looking forward to our transatlantic on the Ryndam in a few weeks' time! Thanks for providing us with lots of relevant information!

  4. We just returned from a Western Med Cruise on the Eurodam, and we had the pleasure of experiencing a semi-private half-day tour of Barcelona booked with Barcelona Day Tours.

I was the 'tour organizer', having posted the information and enlisted another 10 people to join us. We had an excellent guide, Marc, who was very knowledgeable about Barcelona and its history, and provided us with insight from a Catalunyan point of view. One of our 'musts' was a visit inside the Sagrada Familia, which we paid for in advance.

Our group ended up being 14, and we had the use of a large tour bus, so everyone had their own seat - no crowding. The smaller group size made waiting times minimal. The longest delay was picking up the pre-paid tickets at La Sagrada Familia, but the visit inside the Church was worth the wait.

The booking process was smooth and efficient, and I can certainly recommend Barcelona Daily Tours for the quality of the guide and driver. Both were excellent, and we all enjoyed our afternoon on this tour.

  5. My first cruise was in September 1970 on the K Lines' "TSS Orion" on a 7-day round-trip cruise from Athens to Crete, Santorini, Rhodes, Kusadasi, Istanbul, Mykonos and back to Athens. It got me hooked, but unfortunately things like marriage, kids and mortgage prevented me from taking any other cruises over the intervening years. Now that we're retired from work, we're planning our first cruise on HAL in September to Alaska. Hopefully I'll get husband hooked too, and this will be the start of many wonderful cruises to come!:)
