Finally, DW doesn’t drink any alcohol for medical reasons, I imbibe a bit, a cocktail by the pool and before dinner, a glass or two of wine, we won’t stress SB in this regard.  DW does enjoy a few root beers here and there, we made an advance request which was confirmed in writing, a most impressive feat, which carries the expectation the fridge will be suitably stocked.

Wi-Fi permitting expect a few words from me day by day.  I won’t post any food porn, that’s just not my thing, but I will highlight meals or choices that especially impress or disappoint.  Likewise onboard service.

  2. Hi T

Glad that you included the Friends of Dorothy background.  My partner and I were recently having drinks with some twenty something gays who did not know what Stonewall was.  History is important.  We embark on our first Seabourn cruise in 26 days and are looking forward to it.

  3. Don't be afraid to stay up late!   We did this cruise a few years ago and the highlight was sitting on the deck outside La Terraza drinking wine with another couple until 2 in the morning the evening after we had been to Honningsvag .  Ship was completely quiet and as you sail through the islands in the twilight total peace.  Early morning sails into fjords are very special too.  You will have a wonderful time.

  4. I am not about to read through all the responses but a two day tour booked and customized through Dancing Bear Tours was the highlight of our Baltic Cruise.  We were so much happier touring as a couple instead of as part of a group.  Highly recommended

  5. I am worried, the last we EMBT was "Upon returning to the suite we noticed that serious measures have been taken to secure things in the event the weather does indeed turn rough.  More tomorrow..." that was on Saturday?  Where are they?  How are they and how is the Whisper???

  6. A wonderful two weeks from Tower Bridge to Stockholm. Our fifth Silversea Cruise, first on the Wind. Crew were fabulous, food best we have encountered on a ship. MAIN DINING ROOM PARTICULARLY GOOD. Bar staff is fabulous, friendly and anxious to serve. Our butler Diepke was always anxious to help.

A negative for us was the early morning sailout from Tower Bridge. This was a non event, yes it was 5am but it warranted champagne, coffee and maybe a poolside breakfast. Nothing was available until 7:30. I was told the timing was not convenient for the crew who work long hours. Not a luxury response.

Greatly enjoyed the ports, did not do any ship tours. Highly recommend Dancing Bear Tours in SPB, reasonable and wonderful to deal with.

The ship is somewhat tired and our sixth floor hallway somewhat smelly, but...

nothing is perfect and i would gladly return tomorrow.

  7. Disembarked yesterday, wonderful Cruise, great crew and very good food. Is the ship looking a little worse for wear, yes - but that applied to most of us on the cruise too!! Highly recommend.

  8. Thanks for the excellent review of recent Spirit experience and pleased you found the majority of luxury cruising requirements to your liking. We are currently on the Wind on a Norwegian only cruise which has produced fabulous scenery, weather (not needed the many jumpers and coats packed for usual Norway weather and our favourite Wind is perfect with a great crew as usual and th e food in all restaurants is top class and much more variety than expected. The ship is in excellent condition. We have a new to SSHotel Director from a previous line with a fleet of ships that carry Thousands rather than the 290 passengers size we prefer. At dinner last night with him he tried without success to reassure us on the subject of the SS take over by a mass market cruise line which concerns us as long term SS clients.

Look forward to meeting up again on theWind next year.

Thank you for the positive words on the Wind we leave in three weeks for the Baltic and while looking forward to the ship, our first trip on the Wind, concerned about some of the critics. We have always enjoyed Silversea and are hopeful that it is not going to change too much.

  9. We are on the Baltic Cruise boarding August 15 to sail on August 16. We are making plans for our time in London including purchasing theatre tickets. How early can one board on the 15th and what time would the mandatory life boat drill occur? Hoping that this does not interfere a lot with limited time in London.

  10. My partner and I, a middle aged gay couple, have done four Silversea cruises. We have always found fellow passengers welcoming and have never experienced a problem. We are not usually the only gay couple on the ship.
