  1. I just got off the regal yesterday and it was a great time, you will love it. I had a guarantee and wish I had picked instead. I can't really say why, but I just booked 3/7 on the Crown and did not go for the guarantee. One of the things about the guarantee is that you may not know until you get there, or as was in our case they night before you leave you find out that they assigned you an upgrade that didn't feel much like an upgrade. It felt like they the ship fill up and just gave us what they had left. I had asked for higher and toward the back and ended up lower and just above the princess theatre. I wasn't bad, but it wasn't what I asked for.

when you book a guarantee you really cant pick and choose your cabin, you get whats available

  2. I am ONE point away from platinum level. Will I switch over during the cruise like on Princess or do they make you wait until the end of the cruise? Also, does anyone know if you get any points for shore excursions?

you will have to complete the cruise to move up to the next level and princess does that too...no points for shore excurions

  3. I was upgraded from a cabin marked do not upgrade...so wondering if that really makes a difference? It turned out fine, as the upgrade was from an inside, right next to our family members cabins to a nearby balcony, but had that balcony been at the other end of the ship or on another deck, we probably not have been as happy. It was at the last minute as neither me or my TA received any notifications.

As said, I'm not sure marking it do not upgrade has much impact!

as been mentioned before in marking your booking no upgrade is a request and not guaranteed as the cabin can be changed for operational resons

  4. Anytime we have booked via a TA from the EU in the US we paid the TA the price quoted and that's it.

All you need to book directly with RC USA is an address in the US or Canada.

The price difference from the UK to the US website certainly warrants finding a solution.

from australia we can book using a US TA and we dont need an address in the US, wouldnt the UK be the same

any extra we are charged the conversion fee plus what our bank charges for using our credit card

  5. We boarded the Allure this year on the Sunday the time change took affect and boarding was slowed because passengers were late disembarking. You could watch a lot of passengers leaving the ship after 10 am. We were told that many of the passengers did not change their clocks and slept in. So don,t. Be surprised if boarding is a little late next March.

the ones that slept in they didnt check the newsletter and change their watches

  6. Have booked a one night from Seattle and want to make sure we are not bothered by smoke. Does anyone know if there are smoking areas on lido deck? Thank you!

Sent from my iPad using Forums

if you stay on the non smoking side you'll be fine

  7. One of the perks of being in a suite is priority boarding. You will be able to by-pass the long lines and check-in at a separate area or go to the front of the line . We have encountered both scenarios.

if you are in a suite and there's people in the priority line i wouldnt like to jump the queue, you might be told off

  8. sellwingri...there are many more perks then free pictures, on ships with a Diamond lounge, and ships that don't have one they designate a specific lounge for the Diamond events in the Morning they offer continental breakfast with specialty coffee's in the evening they have a Diamond Event (happy hour) where you get all the wine, beer, soft drinks that you want. They have a new program now that 3 drinks a day of a specific list of alcoholic beverages that you can get at any bar or lounge. the drinks are loaded on your seapass card and are available during the same hours as the Diamond Event, hours vary from ship to ship, some are 4pm to 8pm or 5pm to 8pm.and the best part is ...it's all free... :D

you also get priority waitlist for shore excursions and spa services, and a private departure lounge with continental breakfast. hope you get to use theses perks because you have earned them.....happy cruising

    please disregard, made an error

  9. Does anyone know exactly where on the open decks on the Caribbean Princess is smoking allowed? I know where on the Ruby and on the Emerald but want to double check on the Caribbean before I book a cabin.

    Thank you

i would say the smoking area would be the same on all princess ships

  10. I have seen some posts about people not being able to use balconies due to their neighbors smoking constantly on them because of RCIs smoking policy. I am looking at upgrading to balcony cabins on a future cruise as the price is the same as our ocean view room- should I be concerned about the smoking issue? It would be nice to sit out on a balcony, but not if I have to inhale my neighbors smoke the whole trip!

If we do get balconies and have smoke issues, is there anything RCI can do or do we just have to suck it up? (Pun intended...)

    Thanks

going by your signature you cruise in 23 days so if you're talking about that cruise you can enjoy your balcony and hope you dont get a chain smoker, nothing RCI can do if there is a smoker as a neighbour

  11. I have done some reseach and on 3rd Nov 2015 she is in Fremantle-Perth WA.

I am wondering if RCL are moving her between Australia and Europe as at the moment only Princess do 'world' cruises out of Australia each May to Europe and/or Nth America and these are so popular. I did speak to the C & A lady on the 'Voyager' and mentioned how popular these world (half world) cruise are with the 'baby boomers' in Australia and fill very quickly each year. This year I sailed Sydney to Venice along with 1928 other passengers and true the average age was 78!!! This cruise was not only Australians but 500 from NZ and quite a few Brits who had come out on PO UK (Aurora) plus Canadians,Italians and US folk. I think this would be a great move for RCL as they are chasing the $$$ and these type of long cruises are very popular from Sydney.

i think you can take the port authority what they say with a grain of salt, if you check Sydney ports the Rhapsody leaves Sydney on the 29th oct 2015 and returns to Sydney on the 8th nov 2015 so i doubt she'll be in Freo on the 3rd nov 2015, its booked into Sydney ports until 22nd april 2018 but we know that can be changed as they only book the spot
