  1. Yes, I've had a 3rd person who was unable to come at last minute. I prepaid service charges for the entire room. This was in 2021.

After the cruise, my credit card was reimbursed port fees, taxes and that person's service charge. I didn't make any calls to the cruise line to try and get the reimbursement, it was a pleasant surprise. I was going to just write it off.

  2. Hi,

On Great Stirrup Cay, you can't really "rent" a jet-ski. They have Wave runner excursions where you go in a group of 10 or so wave runners and tour the Island. You do get a good opportunity to ride the wave runner and open it up. But you are in a group and can't go off on your own.

You sit through a training and safety video and then your items go in a group locker and get locked up while you are on the wave runners.

    Have fun!

  3. I was told by someone who worked for NCL as recently as December 2017...

The staff must turnover the cash tip including guest information. Once the auto-gratuities have been paid, they get the cash back. If the auto-gratuity isn't paid by that guest. It goes into a pool.

No way. I have been handed sodas without my card being looked at. I handed back a dollar as a tip. That dollar went into their pocket, not a tip jar. They have no idea if I fill out a form after sailing to see if i got a refund of service charge.

Think about it logically and you will understand that the person who reported that information was not telling the real story.

  4. I hope this has happened to someone before:

I was comped a minisuite and then upgraded to a full suite. My NCL shows the proper room, but when I go to pre-pay the service charges, it is only asking for $13.99 per person, per day. There are 5 of us in the room, so they are requesting: $769.45 for 11 days. A suite would be: $16.99 per person, per day for a total of: $934.45 if paid in advance. If paid on the ship, it will be: $17.50 per person per day: $962.50.

If I pay the $769.45 now, will i be charged the additional $193.05 on the ship?

I called CAS and my rep is on vacation, but the customer rep said: Well...if that's all they are charging you, then that is all you should pay. She didn't know the real answer if i would be additionally charged onboard.

I offered to pay the $934.45, but their system wouldn't allow it.

I know this seems petty, but i am that person who hates being charged anything onboard that can be paid in advance.

So if you have upgraded your non-suite comp to a suite, what was your experience with the Service Charge price?

  5. To answer your original question, If you have purchased Norwegian’s Atlantis Excursion, you will be given the bracelet on the pier and then you can go to Atlantis on your own.

The best way to do this is be the first in line with your waivers completely filled out and you will be first to receive your bracelets. You can take your own cab to Atlantis and be there before the pool or slides are even open to get the best seats. You can take the Norwegian shuttle back to port.

Don’t worry about your reservation not being honored. I have done Atlantis with Norwegian at least 15 times, always during peak school break times. We have never been denied once it was reserved. I do know many people who have been shut out because of late bookings.

  6. Have a great time on the Jade! With 4 specialty dining choices, I would pick: 1. Teppanyaki because the steak and rice are delicious and the chefs are very entertaining. 2. Moderno, because the salad bar with Sushi and the meat is Gluttony at its highest form. 3. Cagneys because the steak are sides are delicious. 4. Le Bistro for the escargot app and chicken entree and creme brûlée I leave out the Italian place as I live in New York and I eat Italian three times a week.

For the entertainment, the main shows will be in the dailies and you can just show up and get a seat. No overcrowding like on the mega ships.

  7. I was on the Breakaway last week. I was told effective April 1st, no drinks would be served with a straw unless requested. It became pretty funny because I kept forgetting to say “with a straw” and the waiter/waitress would have to come back. It is a long walk in the casino. By day 7, I remembered more frequently, I also carried a straw in my purse for emergencies. Lol.
