  1. I'm going to be a bit more pragmatic - Coming from someone who given a choice would go for a red wine (pretty much any red wine > £5 a bottle) in preference to (any) champagne all I can say is that real Champagne and Pol Acker are both drinkable! I wouldn't buy a bottle of either for myself ... but If I had too ... then I would buy the Pol Acker over the Champagne, save a bit of money and get a nice bottle of red with the change ;-)

  2. I ordered the cappuccino in the MDR after every meal and the quality did vary a bit. I got the impression that it depended on how busy the waiter was and whether it was your own waiter from evening meals. Sometimes I thought it was from a proper machine but on others it definitely wasn't - as could be told from the partially dissolved cappuccino powered at the bottom of the cup. Having said that I still prefer either to the standard coffee.

  3. > We are on that cruise (actually the round trip

You know, I think at least one other passenger who hasn't received the email is on a back-to-back. Are you booked on M745, or some other cruise number? I'm wondering if Cunard only sent the "premier email" to those booked specifically on M745.

We are booked on M743B and I got an Email from them yesterday - they must be reading cruise critic after all.

  4. We are on that cruise (actually the round trip from Southampton) but as of tonight we haven't heard a peep from Cunard - not even the letter everyone else seems to have received by email - Cruise Critic should bill them for the communication service ;)

  5. Although there is a list of which keynote speakers there will be on a Cunard cruise ahead of the sailing date, the corresponding list of names of professional ballroom dancers who will offer the show dances in the Queens Room, and offer ballroom lessons, is not generally available until embarkation and you are on board and look at the daily news. It is always possible for both the keynote speakers as well as the professional dancers that the schedule can change at short notice for a variety of reasons, but it would be really nice to know ahead of boarding who the professional dancers will be.

Does anyone know which dance pros will be on board the QM2 on cruise M743B in November?

We are on M743B as well. Sorry I don't know who the pros are; but we will find out in a couple of weeks.

  6. I also got the impression that the Crystal Room was for dancing only - I'm disco only I'm afraid. We dined in the Limelight but never tried it at night, we always got a seat in the Crows Nest - loved Joe on the piano. Was the Limelight lively at night?

There wasn't any disco dancing in the Crystal Room all week during the evenings - that was covered by plenty of other venues on board (Live Lounge etc). I got the impression that lots of people were in just listening to the music.

  7. Why does a dance band have a singer

If there was singing i might have gone in for a listen.

Maybe people are getting the impression that the Crystal Room is only for dancing, i did!

ps - they opened the Limelight club bar to all from 11pm, maybe because the Crows Nest was packed late evenings.

Why should a dance band not have a singer. its true that many (myself included) usually find the singer off-putting but on this occasion the blend was perfect.

The crystal room music is suitable for ballroom / latin dancing but I suspect that many people in there were either socialising, watching or listening rather than just dancing.

  8. The public areas were all very clean and we particularly liked the live band in the Crystal Room

Couldn't agree with you more - the band and singer (Rachel Hockley) were nothing short of exceptional and were perfect for ballroom dancing. Incidentally, on paper the Queens Room on Cunard QV and QE are a lot bigger ... but it certainly didn't feel that way since the the dance floor doesn't suffer from the dreaded semi-circle at the end :D
