I see on the website embarkation is at 3pm. Do they ever allow getting on the ship earlier? Also, how is the boarding process?

We showed up at 11 and it was a firm no. We waited at a bar across the drinks and walked over at 2:30 with our luggage. We still had to wait until they started boarding at 3.

  2. My husband and I bought the Laundry Package and it was well worth it. We sent our clothes and rash gaurds, etc. out every day. IT was always returned that evening washed and folded. From what I recall, the package seemed like a better deal than a' la Carte.

  3. I had read bad reviews about the condition of the ship and was worried before we sailed. But I have to say, I have no idea what those people were talking about. Sure, this is a small cruise-line, so I do not expect it to have water slides, flo-riders, etc. But everything was clean, modern and in great condition. I never once saw something that I did not like. It was also, such a treat to have a tub and not a tiny corner shower as on some of the larger ships.

  4. My husband and I booked the November 11th sailing for our honeymoon. We booked in March 2016, so we definitely had a long wait. I read the cruise critic boards like an addict prior to departure, and some of what I read concerned me. I began to question our decision. However, I am glad to report we had had a fantastic time and wouldn't hesitate to go back.

My husband and I drove 4 hours to the Saskatoon airport (We live in Northern Canada). We then boarded a flight to LAX and stayed overnight. We arranged for a car service to pick us up at the airport. We used MGCLS, they were great, they texted me when I arrived and arranged pickup at a door outside the baggage pickup.

We stayed at the Courtyard Marriott Santa Monica. It was a newer hotel, used points to get it and it was right next to the pier which was great. We also used the same car service the next day to go back to LAX. We arrived at the airport and their was a PG rep (Lois) waiting for us. What a great start! Security line was long, but that is to be expected. Boarded the flight, have to say I was pleasantly suprised with the food on Air Tahiti Nui.. the reviews were not good, but it wasn't bad at all. The complimentary wine was also good. 8 hour flight went by pretty fast, we landed in Tahiti around 10:40 PM.

We did not book our Pre-Stay through the PG. I acutally booked a catarman through AIrbnb and it was fantastic. Eric, the owner picked us up at the airport and drove us to the marina. We stayed on his CAT for 3 nights, eating, sun bathing and snorkelling. (Highly recommedn, it was a fraction of the cost of the IC)

Embarkation day came, we had to be out of the CAT at 11am, so Eric's wife ALic dropped us off at the PG. We couldn't board yet, so we walked across the street sat at a bar. I enjoyed some Mai Tai's while my husband enjoyed beer and soccer.

At 2:40 we walked across the street, and we were on board at 3:00 sharp. Having cruised larger ships, this was by far the easiest embarkation ever. Glass of champagne, swipe you AMEX and then our cabin steward Rona escorted us to out cabin.

Cabin was great, were in 606 a D class balcony. Bathroom was bigger than previous cruises which was great. Bed was comfy and mini bar was stocked well.

Dinner every night was fantastic! I had fresh fish every night (Get the Wahoo & the Red Snapper) and the wine service was fantastic. we elected to sit at large tables to meet new people. We had a 7 course meal every night, I miss that already.

Lunch was just as good, everyday was a themed buffet, I elected t visit Sammy the chef for the make your own pasta station. Always enjoyable.

Can't really comment on breakfast, we never made it. We ordered croissants and fruit from room service every morning. It was prompt and good.

Don't miss going to Tea every afternoon, it was a hidden gem.

I had three massages at the spa and they were all fantastic. I also had my hair curled there and I was also satisfied. (Note: The spa is a little overpriced though)

The dive team was great, very patient as I am a new diver.

In Bora Bora we did an excursion through Pure Snorkeling and it was excellent. A must do.

We saw a hammerhead shark from our balcony in Moorea. Highlight for us.

The ship was well layed out. Easy to find everything and never a line. We would absolutely return!

The guest speakers were great. I only wish there were more lectures.

A dead whale washed up on the reef when we were at Motu Mahana, so they advised us to stay out of the water.

I would highly recommend this cruise, the food was great, staff were great!:)

  5. My husband and I were on the November 11th sailing. I believe there were 160 Americans, 28 Canadians, 2 Argentinians, 6 Australians, 4 New Zealand, 2 Switzerland, 4 Japanese, etc.. There were definitely a lot of Americans, and the majority of people seemed to be over 50 for sure. But there were a few people our age, and a large group in there 40's.

  6. Good Morning,

I am looking for places to shop while on a layover in LA. I am heading to Tahiti for a Paul Gauguin cruise in November and I have a 1.5 day layover. I am looking for somewhere to find some "Country Club Casual" type of clothing for the cruise. I have never been to LA before, any suggestions would be appreciated.

  7. Good Morning,

My husband and I are sailing on November 11th. We have a full day layover in LA before we depart for Tahiti. I was just wondering if anyone had any recommendations for a place to buy summer clothes (Or appropriate clothes to wear on the PG). As we are coming from Canada, so only winter clothes are instock right now.

    Thanks.

    Morgan

  8. Thank you! My trick is that I always try to keep the sun behind me when I take photos underwater. It's not always possible, but I rarely like the photos when I am shooting into the sun. As with on land, the colors look brighter and the water looks clearer when you shoot away from the sun

    Hi,

I was wondering what camera do you use for underwater shots? I am in the market for a new one and yours takes great pictures.

  9. Good Afternoon,

My husband and I are going on our very first PG cruise on November 11th. I noticed that there will be a guest host and it says that she will be hosting some excursions. Are these excursions available to book in advance? Or do I have to wait until we are onboard to find out what she will be doing?

    Thanks,

    Morgan

  10. Good Afternoon,

Could anyone tell me if it is possible to downgrade after final paymnet has been made? We have a SPA Balcony but are wondering if it is possible to switch to an inside to save money? Or would that be considered a cancellation and we would not get any money back?

    Thanks!

  11. Hi, I was just wondering if anyone out there has had room 15730 on the Norwegian Escape? I have reading multiple reviews that state some cabins have the bed by the closet and some have the bed by the balcony. If anyone has had this cabin and could let me know which configuration it is that would be great!

  12. Hi Can anyone tell me their expereince with Spa balconies are the breeze? I am currently booked in room 11218 but I am wondering if there is any difference between the spa balconies on floor 11 and 12? Would the 12th floor be better? Or would those be less private?

  13. Hi,

I have sailed on the Liberty twice and I will be sailing the breeze for the 2nd time in December.

I loved both, the only thing I like more about the Breeze is better decor, better water park and the Spa. They thermal loungers and steam rooms in the spa on the BReeze are far superior to the spa on the liberty.

You will have a great time on either though.
